Met the very kind Nick (Aussie)! Super friendly, great information provided, very kind. Keep up the great work 😁
All the staff we dealt with were helpful. We initially applied for a kitten but missed out. I was contacted a short time latter by the thirsk rehoming centre and matched to a different litter and a few weeks later got to bring home our new family member.
I was kept up to date throughout and the transition was seamless I was given lots of tips on how to settle him in and meet our resident cat and he’s the absolute best friends with his big sister now.
A great service I would recommend.
We rehomed a cat from Blue Cross at Thirsk on Valentine's Day. We were so impressed by the lovely welcoming and kind staff who organised our adoption. We were given lots of advice on the day as well as information and links on how to settle Barney into our home, introduce him to our dog and support him to explore outside. This advice was invaluable - especially at the inevitably difficult moments when it was one step forward, two steps back. Barney is a fabulous, affectionate and playful addition to the family. A real love bug. Huge thanks to the Thirsk team
I rehomed a 12.2hh companion pony. The initial discussion of possibilities was extremely useful and they were very knowledgeable about the individuals and their suitability. Once the decision was made the process was very quick and straight forward, they made it very easy.
We had a great experience gaining our beautiful cat from Thirsk. I was really impressed with how much space the cats had, the cleanliness and the kindness being shown with their blankets and toys being provided. All the staff we encountered were really helpful and knowledgeable about the animals there and they clearly knew them as individuals. The whole process was efficient and thorough. I would recommend anyone to go here. A big thank you to everyone that works and volunteers here for looking after the animals so well before they go to their forever homes.
Application process was far more user friendly than some other organisations. Meeting our new dog from going to meet her, then picking her up was welcoming, clearly explained and felt like a special occasion. The centre was clean, well organised and very pleasantly located. Plenty of useful advice, and advice available afterwards too.
I've volunteered here for a few years at a local shelter and love it. Good processes, really kind people, and rewarding spending time with the animals during their transitions. I've also fostered and they are very helpful during the process. I'm not so keen on their policy of not following up after adoptions and new owners not having to give updates, so you rarely hear about your fosters or those that pass through the shelter ever again. That is very very difficult after you've cared for them and in some cases seen them go from being in an absolutely horrendous state to healthy and happy, so get very attached to them and their welfare. It's not the case in smaller rescues where you'd have more involvement with new owners and get photos and updates. I hope one day Blue Cross do review their policy as it only takes 5-10 minutes to make a follow up call to check everything is going ok with the adoption, and would give such reassurance to their fosterers. For the adopters out there please please do give updates and send photos in, I cant tell you how incredible that would be.

I am extremely disappointed with the care provided by Blue Cross Victoria Animal Hospital.
My dog has been seen multiple times with serious and worsening symptoms, yet no proper diagnosis has been made. I was explicitly told that they are only treating symptoms rather than investigating the underlying cause.
Despite paying for several consultations, my dog’s condition has not improved — in fact, new issues developed after attending the hospital, including skin problems and significant hair loss.
What is most concerning is that I was offered yet another “urgent” appointment (at additional cost), while being told that no diagnostic tests would be carried out — only more symptomatic treatment. This feels like a cycle of repeat visits without real progress.
To make matters worse, a staff member told me that if I want proper investigation, I am “free to take my dog to a private vet.” This was dismissive and unprofessional, especially given the ongoing costs I have already paid.
As a charity, I expected care to prioritise the animal’s wellbeing. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite — repeated fees without resolution, poor communication, and a lack of thorough clinical investigation.
I would not recommend this service based on my experience.

We recently adopted a lovely lurcher from the Bromsgrove rehoming centre. All the staff are incredibly helpful and kind. They made sure that is was the right thing for both pet and owners before rehoming and lots of great advice for making it a successful transition for the pet to settle in to their new home. We would recommend to anyone wanting to adopt a pet.

Extremely DISAPPOINTING experience with Blue Cross!!!
My cat was taken in with a clearly identified fracture from prior X-rays. After being handled and re-imaged at Blue Cross, her condition significantly worsened — the bone became more displaced and DISLOCATED.
The difference between the before and after X-rays is clear, which raises serious concerns about how she was handled.
Following discharge, she showed signs of excessive handling, including bruising and additional shaved areas!!!!!!!
Communication around her case was also unclear and added to an already distressing situation.
I would strongly advise others to think carefully before trusting them with complex cases.

i am a pensioner wirh arthritis in both hands and problems wirh my right hip, i am no longer in a position to look after my dog as he is a large and strong dog, i dont have family who can gelp me, and the blue crosses solution is for him to stay here with me whilst they try to rehome him, how does that work when i live around a 2 hour drive from the nearest kennels.

I’ve had such an amazing experience with Blue Cross Devon.
We actually applied for Sally (now Zyra) twice and couldn’t understand why we were being rejected, so I sent an email asking for a bit of advice. Zoe and Jess kindly replied and explained what we’d been doing wrong, and just three days later we were able to adopt this beautiful girl. We also were recommended which food, litter, toys, etc to buy for her, which was such a massive help as first time adopters.
In such a short amount of time, she’s already had such a huge impact on our lives. It’s honestly been incredible watching her settle in and start to feel at home with us.
Thank you so much to everyone at Blue Cross, and especially to the wonderful foster who cared for her before she came to us. Please know she is so deeply loved, and we’re truly grateful every day that she’s part of our family ❤️

I lost my other cat Samantha 2nd a clever beautiful short haired brown playful tabby with tinted ginger who loved looking in the mirror maybe getting ready to see Ginger due to liver and kidney disease and oral cancer for whom I had as a great companion for 20 years and 5 months. I was longing to get another cat in her likeness which I now have being Samantha 3rd and friendly sister Kitty who are now over 9 months and play like crazy chasing each other and fun to watch and very good company.
I miss my other cat Samantha 2nd whom passed away on 10 October 2025 on the vet table after two injections and it was horrible and I was in floods of tears an d for many months. I have her ashes that I will scatter in the corner near the fence she used to cut through to play with Ginger, I will scatter them on 15th April which is her birthday and she would be 21. I have a for get me not flower planted in her memory and a picture framed and she will be never forgotten and always remembered in the chambers of my heart.

We rehomed Ivy a French bulldog from Bromsgrove Rehoming Centre, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff were absolutely amazing — so friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly thorough throughout the whole process. They clearly care deeply about the animals and take the time to make sure each rehoming is the right fit. We can’t thank them enough for everything they did for us and for Ivy. Highly recommend to anyone considering rehoming.

Twice in one day 9:30 AM then 19:54 idiots from Blue cross charity knocking on door. instead of paying these dim wits a wage why don't you put the money into the cause you are begging for, Next time will not be a pleasant no thank you!

Great communication and thorough but easy process when adopting

I have recently adopted a companion pony through the Blue cross, and I have to say it was such a straightforward experience, Susie was very helpful through the process.

I applied for 3 dogs in December and January and didn’t hear back about any of them. Not even an email to acknowledge that the applications had been unsuccessful. Incredibly disappointed in the process and so I bought a puppy instead which was much more straightforward.
