Unable to deliver

Friendly support, however my delivery (custom engagement diamond ring) was 'lost in delivery' (apparently). They arranged for a replacement and I waited a month for that, but it never arrived. I was not actively contacted, I had to ask them what was going on - they didn't know. I asked them when the replacement would arrive, they didn't know. I asked them if they had started making the replacement, they didn't know.

They did know one thing - and that is that I would have to pay the tax (international delivery) which was already payed in the original purchase, but not to worry as they would reimburse me.

It's now 3 months after my purchase. I've wasted 2 holidays where I was going to propose and my relationship to my (soon to be) fiance has been damaged because I put my trust in blue nile.

Not once was I offered any compensation, and although a kind apology was offered, it was months too late. I'm now trying to get a refund, which I pray to god they can do successfully and promptly... but I am not convinced.

Amazing 10/10 first time buyer will be back ❤️

I recently purchased a 1.8 carat cushion cut diamond ring from blue Nile. I had researched a lot but took a gamble on a GIA J colour Vvs2 stone to get the most for my £. All I can say is WOW. The diamond was even more beautiful in real life and surpassed all my expectations. I saved so much money by using this company vs a high street jeweller and I will use them again. Thank you! X

UK buyer

UK buyer
UK buyer. Was recommended blue nile by a client as I noticed her very sparkly jewellrey. Purchased a 5 stone radiant cut platinum eternity ring. Its absolutely stunning. Even better than it looked online. Received within 3 days. Fits perfectly. What more can I say. I’d buy more if I had the money. Literally everyone notices how sparkly it is. What was even better was it was in the sale. No import duties or anything to pay.

Top quality, easy to use.

Great service, easy to deal with and quick to dispatch.
Fantastic choice of diamonds which can be filtered through easily. The parameters for quality are easily explained and diamonds come exactly as described. This is the best place for loose diamonds.

Dreadful returns process

It took three calls and several emails to try to arrange a return. I said I would use Royal Mail international tracked, but the agent said they would not accept that or it would be at my risk. I felt pressured by threats of customs hold ups, unless I chose their favoured couriers UPS or Fed Ex. I caved in and agreed to use their service for £20 ( the email of instructions said it would be £40!!) This doesn't include insurance; you have to insure the parcel through their recommended company Parcelpro. This alone was complicated and technically tricky to navigate, including a request for a "shipment payment" - no mention of insurance on their site! Ring worth £250 weighing 150g cost about £22 to return. I then had to have 6 copies of some customs declaration to give to the courier- not everyone has a printer at home! So much stress and hastle to send a single ring back. I have never experienced such a frustrating, time consuming, expensive and complicated returns process . Absolutely dreadful. Blue Nile's website should have a loud and clear warning-DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU THINK YOU MAY NEED TO RETURN AN ITEM!

Perfect service

Can't understand the negative reviews. I bought an engagement ring from Blue Nile and everything worked perfectly. Great customer support, ring was shipped in time as promised. I ordered the ring too large and after the proposal had to send it back for resizing which was no problem at all they returned the resized ring within a week.
Overall I could not be more happy with the service I received and would use them again any time.

Never trust them.

First I had a diamond on hold so they could check for a bow tie effect, they then sold this diamond whilst on hold. Then I put another diamond on hold for another bow tie effect check, and when I queried the check they told me the results came back as 1/5. I called to purchase and was told actually the results hadn't come back at all.
I was then told twice I wouldn't be charged duty on arrival because I purchased in time.
I bought the ring, after ensuring I received written proof I wouldn't be charged any duty, even though they'd lied to me already several times, I know my partner loves their specific ring setting.
They sent the parcel with UPS. I tracked this, obviously.
I'm vulnerable and working from home, with full view of my front door. I was planning to propose tomorrow, Valentines Day. At 3:26pm with full view of my front door, as stated, I received an email telling me I wasn't home and UPS had missed me.
After several phone calls to UPS, being told I was lying, being told their driver was correct and I could pick it up, then I couldn't pick it up, then I could pick it up today... their supervisor called me back to apologise as they checked the driver GPS and he was never even on my road.
Again I was told I could pick this up today. I just received a phone call from UPS telling me they have no idea where this parcel is. No idea. A £4k package and they have no idea.
My proposal is ruined. I don't even know if I'm going to see this ring or the £3.7k I parted with. I'm definitely not going to see the smile on my partner's face I expected tomorrow.
Never trust Blue Nile, never trust UPS. Not with something this important.

Update: BN called to tell me my parcel was ready for collection, at the exact time I was on the phone to UPS telling me the depot was shut and the parcel still not located. I had to tell my partner about the plans because hiding it whilst dealing with BN and UPS was impossible. No one apologised for absolutely destroying the entire thing. Just avoid them.

Painful - but worth it!

I have been looking at buying a diamond directly as a more cost effective way of buying something amazing and personalised and having the ring made.
Contact with the team at Blue Nile was pretty much in line with the comments of others, variable, inconsistent and it didn't fill me with much confidence. However, despite sending them a significant amount of money, which also gave concerns given it was a direct not returnable transfer, the diamond turned up about a week later and is absolutely beautiful. it was therefore worth the agro but a shame that the customer interaction element of the business left quite a bit to be desired.

Order canceled by Blue Nile

I placed an order with Blue Nile on November 20, 2020 with an expected delivery date of November 24, 2020. I checked the order status on the 24th to ensure that I would be at home for the delivery and saw the order had been canceled. I immediately contacted Blue Nile customer service and after 15 minutes on hold was informed that Blue Nile could not accept a credit card payment for the order. When I asked what the issue was with the order or method of payment, I was informed that Blue Nile wasn't at liberty to discuss their security procedures.
My guess is this is another example of a company using 'email reputation scores" to limit fraud. In this case they not only didn't mitigate their fraud risk, they lost a customer of more than 10 years. Maybe they should have checked the name and mailing address - rather than the new email - before they let a third-party database cancel an order. Guess Tiffany’s will get my cash from now on.

A disaster

This company cancelled my order 9 days after ordering and didn't even contact me about it and didn't refund the money until I later found out and complained. 11 days after ordering, I found the order status had been changed to 'cancelled' 2 days prior and I called to find out what was going on. I was told they hadn't contacted because of the christmas period and that the order had been cancelled because the diamond they'd advertised actually wasn't up to scratch. They said they'd kept the money in case I wanted to change my order, which doesn't make sense since they never contacted me about the cancelled order or the refund.

I'm now left desperately trying to order a ring from someone else in time while waiting who knows how long for the refund to now come through. The person on the phone was unapologetic for the mess this has created. I should add that they had reassured me (prior to getting my money) about the delivery date both online and over the phone.

My advice is don't take the risk. Buying a diamond ring is a big deal for most people and you should be able to trust who you are dealing with.

Couldn't recommend enough!

I can't recommend Blue Nile highly enough. Having looked at various retailers, we got so much more for our budget from them. The order was tracked all the way through to delivery, and was delivered very quickly. They were so helpful and responsive every step of the way, I would happily recommend them to everyone I know. Thank you!

Awesome price, great variety and received it in one day!

I was looking for a present for a bachelorette party and we had a limited budget so I looked online to see if we could find something better with the same money. We bought a gorgeous bracelet for an awesome price and it arrived at my place the afternoon after i bought it! Plus, I looked at other websites and I liked that this one looks very legitimate and had a huge variety but well organized. I'm definitely buying here again.

Great service.....and price

Was a little dubious spending a lot of money on a diamond online, but after seeing the selections of diamonds AND prices I was prepared to take the risk, and it definitely paid off. I built my own ring with my choice of diamond with all the help I needed from customer services. The ring arrived exactly when I was told it would, it was easily tracked online as well, And most importantly my fiancée loved it. I cannot recommend them high enough.

The personal touch

Bluenile.com has a site for Japan in Japanese advertising their price in Yen.
This site quotes the lowest prices on the internet for diamond jewelry and is very helpful because whenever I have clients , I ask them to check it and learn the lowest prices they can find. This makes my sale much easier - thank you bluenile.com !
What customers do not consider when buying from bluenile.com is issues like : what if the design didn't match what it appeared to be on the screen ? what if the size didn't match ? what if a wrong order was sent ? what if I found out the diamond didn't match the certificate ? in all such cases you would have to start claiming and paying shipping charges with the risk of your item getting lost and ....if the tax office found out you are importing diamond jewelry without paying the 5% consumption tax NOR the 6% import tax on diamond set jewelry, you would be investigated. There is a way avoid all that & get a cheaper price - buy from a trusted Jeweler !

Excellent products & service at excellent prices!

I was the lucky recipient of a Blue Nile diamond engagement ring. A year after I received it I sent it back to have it resized slightly - what a dream to work with their customer service team! We dealt with Lesley Townsend, who was an absolute stunner.

When it was time for us to get married, we didn't hesitate to buy our wedding bands from here - I'd guess it was about 40% lower than high street prices and, once again, we received outstanding customer service.

I was also lucky enough to receive - as a wedding gift from my husband...yes, he is wonderful - a set of earrings from Blue Nile as a wedding gift. Suffice to say that we will never buy diamonds anywhere else!

Thank you Blue Nile!
