Poor customer service.
The response from Blurb was as disappointing as their product. All my fault. At no point did they admit responsibility for the poor quality of the book they had printed... just made sure that they stated that it was the poor quality of my work that caused the problem. This was an obvious resolution from the first contact with their "customer service" team.
Surprise! extra shipping costs
I paid 80$ for a book, plus 34 for shipping and it turns out when the book arrived to my country ups charges another 30 for taxes and 30 as "managing costs" so my book is blocked at customs while I'm left dealing with ups trying to pay... At the end of the day shipping costs more than the book and you can't know beforehand how much you'll be charged... Never had that problem with other online purchases. Wasted so much time in doing the book through blurb while local companies end up being much cheaper...

Unethical company
Blurb removed their volume discounts on magazines of 10+ 25+ etc. after I became locked into their proprietary software. When I first signed up, I understood the risk of locking myself into their proprietary design software but went with it for sake of ease. I wasn't, however, aware that they would eventually remove volume discounts on the type of publication I printed (magazine). I just sent them a message indicating my disappointment and suggesting it was highly unprofessional to lock someone in and then remove a key feature like volume discounts. Their response... "we've removed volume discounts on magazines, have a nice day". Word of caution if you're considering Blurb that once locked in, you're at their mercy.
Side note... my first experience in 2020 with Blurb was also a shocker when I discovered they were using practices that as I understand it are illegal. In November 2020 they offered a limited time 50% discount (leaving customers to believe they're getting 50% off), but in reality they had just raised their prices a fews days prior to issuing the promotion. This practice as I understand it violates antitrust laws. I informed them of this (and told them I had been fooled but I received no response from the company).

Really disappointed with my last order
Really disappointed with my last order. For starters, the book hadn't even shipped when the "expected delivery date" had already come and gone. Had to email to find out what was going on, only to get a generic response.
Shipping was understandably not free but the delay combined with the shipping fee, and then UPS tacks on duty+brokerage on top? For a book? That costs entirely too much because of the aforementioned fees? Too much. Way too much, too late, and definitely not better than the local competition. If you're in Canada, stay away.

I've been using Blurb for at least 15…
I've been using Blurb for at least 15 years. I don't publish many books, but the ones I have done have been excellent. I'm a photographer and a writer. The last 3 books I have done with Blurb have all been personal travel experiences. I value my photography and so do the printers at Blurb. Honestly, I worked in advertising and marketing communications for 40 years and I would put their work up against any of publishers that I did multiple volume printing. I just received my most recent one today and it's PERFECT!
Spent $285 for a book that never came
I placed an order on June 23 for $285. It’s a hard cover multi page book and was meant to be a birthday gift for my brother, it’s a collection of poems written by my late father. Estimated delivery date at the time was July 1. It’s now July 31 and there’s no book, and no estimate for how long the book will take to be finished. I am in the middle of moving so I actually leave the state in 7 days so now this just adds more stress to the situation. Extremely frustrating, how can you operate a business like this? If you would be more upfront about production/delivery timelines I would have planned to deliver directly to my brother and wouldn’t be checking the status of my order every week.
Do not use!!!
Do not use! They took £46 out of my bank without permission and are refusing to give it back!

4 Weeks and Counting
Ordered a portfolio from blurb 4 weeks ago, paid for express shipping and had an expected delivery date of a week, which I thought was ambitious. Turns out I was right, 4 weeks in and having spoken to customer service along the way, while being promised to have delivery sorted in the second week, it still hasn't left production. I managed to get a refund for delivery on the third week with another promise of delivery within that week, still nothing. I've ended up ordering another portfolio from elsewhere during this as what I needed it for has come and gone. completely unreliable.

I am extremely pleased with Blurb’s quality. My books and canvas always look fabulous!
My first time to have my pictures…
My first time to have my pictures published on the front, back and inside a magazine. Then I order one to have a hard proof as a published photographer, really amazing quality, just love. In other hand you can add a fantastic customer service, fast reply and resolving a problem. I would highly recommend blurb.
blurb rocks!!
It was a super fast production and blurb made it ever so easy and snappy...still waiting to see the finished hard copy, but I bet it will be awesome...a gift for someone and I am sure he will love the book. Thank you very much blurb!!
Love the quality!
Highly recommend publishing with Blurb
If I had known producing a very high-quality publication was this simple, I would have created an art book years ago! I will definitely be using Blurb into the future.

Quality
It had been a while since I last used blurb, and/but it’s so straightforward and intuitive to use. The quality of the final product is incomparable.
Very speedy delivery and good quality
very speedy delivery and good quality. Ease of use whilst using Bookwright. I have also used the Blurb Plug-In for Adobe InDesign before and that was very good.
60 books produced - all excellent
I've now produced over 60 books through Blurb, all with loads of photos and the results have been very pleasing. The Bookwright software is easy to use and has plenty of options - one example being able to add a border with rounded corners to photos which looks so much better than just square-cornered photos. I've mainly used the large landscape format with Imagewrap covers and the resulting 'coffee-table-style' books look superb. I've more recently produced some Premium Magazine books and they are also excellent - and a great deal less expensive! When I've needed advice or help with a problem, the Blurb Support Team have been top class - responsive, professional and friendly. Overall - Blurb is great!
Great product
We did an 80th birthday photo album for our Mom. There were over 100 photos in the end. This product is easy to use, there is online help available, it arrived when promised and the final product is of excellent quality. Highly recommended.
My favorite photo books!
This is my fourth time printing through Blurb and I am pretty much sold for life. As a professional photographer, I am pretty picky about the quality of the paper and how well the photos match what I see on my own monitor. However, I am NOT a graphic designer and I need help with layout options. The Bookwright software is the perfect solution and gives me lots of space for text, plus the ability to customize each page as needed. The ease of use has me inspired and motivated to print more and more of my own personal photos, rather than just keeping them on my website or hard-drive, where they rarely get viewed and enjoyed. I get my Blurb books off the shelf and enjoy them all the time!
