We ordered a whole bunch of books for a baby shower and sent them from New York to Delaware. I contacted them because they never arrived. It took almost two and a half months to figure out that the books were lost. They were good about refunding and said the books will probably appear there sometime down the road... but something was a little off. The tracking said they were in Philly but no one could find them on either end. Here it is a year later and still no books.🤦🏻‍♀️

Disaster from beginning till the end. Ordered a book before x-mas because the site said it was in stock and I was in a hurry. After a couple of days I got a notice saying that it was not. I contacted them on Messenger, where they said they would cancel the order and the invoice. Sounded all good.
HOWEVER - neither happened. The book and the invoice both arrived (a lot later than promised) and when I tried to contact them to correct this I had no luck. Not till I a couple of weeks later managed to find the address directly to the CEO I received a reply (after another weeks waiting), who first said that they never approved cancellations. After proving our previous conversation they sent me a return card for the book. I returned it, but it was a return card that did not give me a receipt. And guess what, two weeks later they claim that they haven't received the book back, and that I should pay for it after all...

Don't order from this company, you'll never receive your order and you'll get no help from customer service. My order has not yet been received after three weeks and the only help I get from creating a "ticket" is a canned response.

Awesome, I found so many books I had on my wishlist on Amazon for just a fraction of the price, .On my first order I saved about $80.00!!!!!
It was shipped out fast . I will go back again and again...this is a must for any book lover!

Didn't get my books, marked "Delivered" by USPS but I NEVER RECEIVED my books, already tried to tracked my package everywhere including asking neighbors, emailing USPS, visiting the physical Post Office near me, waiting the whole day for the Mailman just so I can asked where the hell is my books and why is it marked "Delivered" when I DID NOT RECEIVED any package, but NONE, tried to emailed Book Outlet Customer Service, total radio silence from them, now I wondering did Book Outlet even sent my books or just TAKING MY MONEY and be done with it, WILL NEVER EVER BUY from Book Outlet again!!!

Shipping took a while but was well within the upfront given time-frame. The book itself was like new - so nothing to complain about.

I ordered 2 books from BookOutlet and they came in super awesome condition at an unbeatable price. Lots of inventory to choose from. Shipping was extremely fast. I will definitely order from here again and tell all of my friends to use this site. Very impressive!!!

Shipping took forever. The tracking they provide does not offer any explanation.

I ordered seven hardcover books and they all arrived in great condition and to my surprise one came as an autographed copy :-) shipping was a little delayed but all things considered it was reasonable. I've already started shopping for my next order.

Will not be buying from this company again. Bought 20 books from book outlet and 6 came damaged. They said they were ordered scratch and dent couldn't remember if that is what it said when I ordered these books. Two were really badly damaged torn page and also some ink fingerprints on one of them. Don't think they should even sold these to me they belong in recycling. Not even thrift stores would sell such books in that condition. I paid over $5 for some of these books and was expecting them to come in better condition. The other 14 books were in very good condition and most of them were under $5 which doesn't make sense to me. They would not give me a refund or discount so I will never buy books from them again. Definitely don't recommend buying books from them.
This is the response I got after contacting the Better Business Bureau to launch a complaint.

These books are marked UP TO 95% off (in the range of 50-95%). Regardless, they are still listed as Scratch & Dent and arrived in the exact condition we promised - with some scratches, dents, tears and various other cosmetic issues, such as missing dust jackets. The books are structurally sound, guaranteed great for reading.

The customer purchased these books in this condition fully knowing they will have cosmetic wear. A refund will not be issued as ALL of the required information was very clearly provided to the customer prior to their purchase.
Not impressed at all the books were in very bad condition and should not even be sold at their so called discounted price.

Honestly, I was extremely hesitant about buying from this company due to the amount of bad reviews I saw but something just told me to go for it, and I'm very glad I took that chance because I plan on buying from this company again in the future. The shipping was overall great, but could have been a little quicker. All of the items were in pretty good condition. However, I got a couple small items in boxes and the boxes were a little beat up but not awful. Overall, my experience was very great. You also have to put into the consideration that you get what you pay for and every single thing may not be perfect, so I understand the 2 little boxes weren't completely mint. As stated, I plan on buying from again. I just hope that the shipping is faster next time. Since it's the holidays, I understand why the shipping was on the slow side.

I would give this company a ZERO star yet that is not an option. Terrible service--terrible products--they take no responsibility for the junk they send out--no refunds --no replacements --buy at your own risk. You would do better going to Goodwill, eBay or Amazon. With the last 2 at least you have a guarantee to get what you paid for! They do nothing but give poor excuses for the damaged books they send out AND I did not even buy from their "scratch and dent"...would hate to see what those look like!!!!

I received a book that was heavily damaged in one corner (the dust jacket had two 1” tears and was crinkled up, the cover board was scrunched in, and the last 60 pages were folded up). It was a “bargain” book, not a “scratch and dent,” so it wasn’t supposed to have damage.

I wanted to return the book for a refund (or exchange it if they were getting more in stock), but Book Outlet only offered a 50% refund since they didn’t think the damage warranted more. They said their books are always going to have additional shelf wear, and that most companies would not take liability for products that arrive damaged. There’s a big difference between normal shelf wear and actual damage, and I don’t know any companies that wouldn’t take full responsibility for not packing their products adequately for shipment. Seems disingenuous for a company to boast about the great condition of their books but then dismiss damage as “shelf wear” you should have expected.

They offered a full credit for the book to my Book Outlet account after multiple messages, but by then I was fed up. They have cheap prices, but if they’re sending damaged books that have to be repurchased elsewhere at full price it means spending extra money and dealing with extra hassle.

I have purchased over $350 worth of books recently, and used many of the coupons I've saved from my recent orders.

Upon receiving damaged items, I contacted the Book Outlet Customer Service. I was told that they would give me credits for the books that were damaged. Then, I received a message saying that because I had used multiple coupons, this would "need to be looked into".

No response from customer service since then, as it appears I am being entirely ignored. While they were investigating my use of multiple coupons, they should've investigated their obvious lying about the condition of books on their site. Denying me a return/refund/credit for items that were NOT AS DESCRIBED is ridiculous.

My family visits the Book Outlet retail store at least once a week (has been since it was literally opened), and I make many purchases myself. But my business will be going elsewhere, as will the rest of my family's, and all of my 5 star reviews will be changed to 1 star because this kind of behaviour is juvenile and uncalled for and I won't purchase from a company that can't own up to its own quality errors and instead tries to turn it around on the customer.

I have made over a hundred orders with Book Outlet and I am very grateful to them for the opportunity they have brought to me. I live in a country where books are really expensive but because of Book Outlet, an access door for cheap books has made its way to me. At the quality of the books that you will receive, the price point is quite fair. They indicate if the book you're getting has scratches and even when they arrive surprisingly scratched or damaged unlike indicated, all you have to do is send them a message and they make sure to make things right. You also get nice surprises from time to time like signed books or something like that. You're getting the books at a fraction of its original price so for me that's already a steal in itself. More power to this company and they deserve more 5 star reviews on this site I felt inclined to sign up just so that they can get their due.

It can be a needle in a haystack to find a particular book here - very random selection.

I had an unpleasant experience with an order - huge shipping overcharge, one book didn't arrive, and the customer service agent was unpleasant. Really turned me off to future orders.
