Premature breakdown - expensive and poor service
Our 1 and half year old dishwasher had an error code E09 which indicates a failed heat pump. I decided to book directly through the Bosch website and understood there would be a $179 diagnostic fee plus the repair cost.
The tech showed up earlier than scheduled and was not able to fully diagnose since there was a wooden bar holding the dishwasher in and the tech was not allowed to remove it. I was not home yet since he arrived earlier so he was dealing with my wife. The tech said he would have to come back. He provided a quote which was $179 diagnostic fee, $180 labour, and $160 to $460 in parts.
Total would end up being $600 to $900. We debated on just buying a new one but decided it would be better environmentally to repair this one. The dishwasher has a 5 years electronics warranty, but they will not honor that if you do not have the receipt.
When I got home, I was able to remove it quickly with a butter knife since it was just siliconed in. I texted the tech about coming back, and he said the office would reach out.
A few days later after not hearing anything I had to call and ask when someone could come. They asked me when would work, and I provided 2 dates which they said they would confirm via email. A week goes by and I don't hear anything. I decide to grab the part and fix myself which took 1 hour.
Several more days later after not hearing back, I finally get a voicemail saying the parts are backordered for at least another 2 to 3 weeks.
I call them back to explain that due to lack of communication and delays, I was able to repair myself. They are still charging the $179 diagnostic fee even after several emails indicating the lack of service and delays.
I asked for an exemption but was denied. Due to this poor experience and the high costs of repairs, I will not buy Bosch again.
