I was looking for a archery supplier…

I was looking for a archery supplier for refreshing our club kit. As I had not used them before I thought I would do a test purchase first. A simple order for some new arrow points. Cost was competitive but postage to Scotland was £30 + vat. This was for a package that Royal Mail first class should have been under £3. I tried emailing them but no response. Today I placed an order with one of their competitors for £2600. Sort yourself out of you want to stay in business

Really slow delivery

The products i ordered were fine, but delivery was woefully slow: almost two weeks to receive what amounted to a thick envelope. I could have walked to the company and picked up the goods and then walked back home and it would have taken less time.

Normally I would use this company very very frequently and have spent hundreds of pounds with them including several bows. I have had no problem with their service and products and have been pleased. However, recently I have twice attempted to purchase low cost products worth about £10.00 or so and each time they added £30 postage and packaging to the online bill. How could it possibly cost £30 to send a £10 product through the post? I'm afraid they have lost all future business from e which included the purchase of a PSE bow. God knows what they would charge for that!! I have now found a better company in respect of postage charges. Shame that a long satifactory business relationship between us has ended

Unfortunately not good

I've only been there once but my first experience was not a good one. The man I spoke with was obnoxious and rude so I simply walked out. I now travel 30 odd miles to another archery store where they have a much better attitude. I now coach and because of that one experience
I don't recommend them to beginners.

I had a great experience purchasing…

I had a great experience purchasing online at Bowsports. I placed and order for multiple items and 24 hours later one of the staff contacted me letting me know that one of the items in my order would have been available as a backorder i. 4 to 6 weeks. Because of that, they offered me a few options: wait for the item to be in stock, to be refunded or to purchase a similar item. I went for the third option and I received all my stuff the day after. I’m very happy with how they handled that situation of shortage.

Good prices and prompt despatch.

Ordered from them twice and both times been spot on. Ordered before 10am and arrived the following day! Would give 5 stars if they sorted their product listings out; you can’t seem to sort or filter items which is very strange. Really affects the ease at which you can find what you want.

Somewhat above and beyond

A little while ago, I bought my first bow, and other beginner equipment, from Bowsports; the staff member who processed my online order had the initiative to realise I was just starting out, and called me to talk through everything I had ordered. As a complete novice, with no access to a local club or instructors, this was invaluable to me. The individual was polite, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable (especially from my point of modest understanding), making the hole experience very pleasant. Frankly, I feel like that first experience enhanced my excitement around a new hobby, taking this as an indicator of a friendly and helpful community. I am now a bit further in my journey, and go to Bowsports as my first stop for anything new I buy. I don't normally bother with reviews, especially lengthy ones, but having read some negative reviews, I feel like a number may be driven more by personal irritation than genuine poor service, and so was compelled to share my excellent experience. I live several hours from their location, but am going to endeavour to visit in person when restrictions are lifted.

Excellent service.

Have bought a number od things from here, each time the service has been quick and reliable. On the very odd occasion that something goes wrong it's been put right very quickly and easily. Highly recommend.

If you want poorly made arrows...

If you want poorly made arrows with glue everywhere followed by excuses and a refusal to provide a full refund with some bragging about world champion experience thrown in, as well as harassing back to back phone calls, this company is for you. Photos can be found on Google reviews for your amusement.

Bowsports themselves are good

Bowsports themselves are good, very quick at sending items you order online, even the cheaper ones (that Merlin sometimes struggle to send quickly). Their stock is good, they are helpful and overall I can't fault them. Some of the gear is obsolete but cheaper, my only gripe is with ParcelForce who routinely ignore what delivery instructions you leave so if you don't get on with your neighbours make sure you're in when they try to deliver.

Ordered a Ragim Impala 60LB traditional…

I had some issues with Bowsports UK. It was about an order, Ragim Impala 60 Lbs and instead received 50Lbs. I was disappointed as it was on their website as in stock, however, it was not and I was quite pessimistic that will ever get a pair of 60Lbs.
Well, they did not forgot about me and after around 4 weeks I had a very pleasant email by Christina informing me that it is in stock. I even asked for a second set for a friend of mine and Christina saved two sets of 60Lbs for me.
Well, after all Bowsports UK efforts to accommodate my requirement I cannot fault their customer service at all. I will recommend them to anyone with archery hobby and they will be my first choice as archery retailers for the future. Bowsports Rocks!

Like the many poor reviews on various sites, this is yet another one about Bowsports and poor customer service once the sale has been made. I should have taken note of them and not dealt with Bowsports but you live and learn.

The salesman will seem great when there is a sale going on but try to resolve any issue following that - well, you have been warned!

There are quite a few archery companies with really good reviews - use them is my advice.

Dear Mr Marshall,

From your first contact with us we have only ever stated any issue would be resolved.

Our doors are always open.
We don't just sell equipment, we actively promote the fact that we are here for advice and that is freely available all the time.
We always say, any questions to let us know and whilst I appreciate you decided to work your own way through what sounds like a difficult few months, on first reporting to us your limbs are weighing 7-8lbs above their specification we confirmed that is something we need to check.

As communicated by both email and telephone, ideally we would like to see you with all your kit so we can completely check this over, but if travelling to us is a problem, we can either visit your club and work personally with you to resolve any issue or I have sent a returns label for you to return the limbs in question.

Being a small business with 5 employees, we have tried to explain, we cannot reasonably be expected to replace items without first checking whether or not there is a fault; this in no way questions you personally, but we need to confirm any issue first.

Having known and worked with Nathan for many years, I certainly have not heard him or anyone from BowSports speak about false reviews or say anything derogatory about our competition, it is simply something we would not accept.

I can only apologise again that you are not happy. It is very upsetting to think you feel the need to make a review like this, with such ambiguous and extremely unfair comments about our customer service; and which is clearly designed to be as damaging to us as possible.
To suggest that we do not care about our customers, apart from when we are taking their money, is very unjust. That would go against everything we stand for, and is absolutely untrue.

As always, we remain willing to look after you, just as we do our many customers who are happy with us, and give us excellent reviews. Again, I am sorry you are not happy, but we do not deserve this defamation.

Truly awful

Truly awful. I've had to shrink down my full rant - it doesn't fit on here.

We spent £3,400 at Bowsports as part of a Club purchase and we drove from Glasgow to collect it to save on P&P which was over £300.

I spoke to Robert (good guy) repeatedly in the weeks leading up to the day of collection. Told him what time (as soon as they opened) and had our order confirmed and paid for.

We hired a van and myself and the Quartermaster drove down - it took a long time but it was saving money so it was worth it.

I was assured our order would be ready.

1 - The order was NOT ready. Not in anyway, shape, or form. How do I know this? Well, they told me. It took TWO HOURS to get our order ready. TWO HOURS. It us another days van hire.

2 - Not ONCE did we get a "thank you for your custom" or "thanks for coming down to us". Not ONCE. I don't know - maybe they didn't want £3,400. We felt like we were just wasting their time. Apart from Robert, NO-ONE spoke to us from the firm.

3 - We had pre-ordered some other stuff with the intent to pay on arrival, (bosses, targets, etc) which I was assured was in stock. We got there and sure enough, out of five bosses, four were missing the bolts and screws. The owner had to jump out to a DIY shop and buy matching bolts / screws

4 - Truly AWFUL customer service. Robert was a nice lad, I don't blame him. The owner never introduced himself to us, never came to speak to us, never thanked us for our business. When he vanished to get the bolts, he came back and just passed them over to us in the carpark without so much as an apology.

5 - We wanted to buy more stuff in the shop, but we wanted to use Paypal so we could use the Club account money. They wouldn't let us 'for security issues' and said they wouldn't process the order if I bought it online right then. I had to use my personal credit card to get the rest of the stuff.

6 - Stuff we'd ordered and paid for, wasn't actually in stock. A basic stock tracker - novel concept no? We had to re-jig the order to get what we needed, which is stressful to say the least.

7 - Staff are clearly terrified of the owner. They were passing out target frames to us through the front door of the shop (nah, lets not open the big warehouse shutter), and I held the door open to the warehouse so they could get the frames through without phaffing about. They GRABBED the door off me and slammed it shut saying they'd get into trouble. It's not a bloody bank!

8 - We'd bought and paid for an arrow straightener which lo, wasn't in stock on the day. So as we checked things off, I saw there was £10 attached to the arrow straightener cost.
"What's that for?"
"P&P".

It's only because I could see Robert was a decent lad working in hellish conditions that I didn't start a riot in the shop. We've just driven half the country, spent a few thousand quid, been treated like dirt, and YOU'RE CHARGING ME £10 FOR DELIVERY ON AN ITEM I HAD PAID FOR AND YOU SAID WAS IN STOCK?

9 - Just a horrible place. The shop is lifeless, the stock is alright, but the customer service from the owner is just the single, worst experience I've ever had. I don't expect special treatment, but by christ, a handshake and a thank you would've been the mark of a true man - I don't expect to be pretty much ignored.

What can I say? Bowsports seemed alright on the phone and email, but when it came to the crunch, they were truly the single worst archery suppliers I've ever encountered.

They will not be getting a single penny further from our Club, and we have informed all our members of this debacle. They have missed out on several thousand pounds more for the second part of the grant. We'll stick to Clickers, who would it turns out, have actually opened their shop on a time and date to suit us.

Now that's service - Bowsports, take note, you're a disgrace.

I'm very sorry to hear about this, personally the owners, which include myself were dealing with a family death and funeral arrangements so personally apologies’ for lack of introductions.
Our understanding is you were met with Robert who was in any case your point of contact through-out this order, but along with Gareth worked with you on the day.
Although I don't handle orders day to day, apart from the missing screws on the target stands, Robert believed he had your order collected for you ready to be checked through with you on collection and any changes needed had been sorted with you prior to your visit, with the arrow straightener to be posted on.
We always look at ways we can improve our service, we do like to check orders over with the customer rather than just had over a box but this does take time.
Apart from not being able to accommodate your request for PayPal on this occasion, the issue with the missing screws was very unfortunate, but I jumped straight out to sort that for you and both apologised and explained what parts I had replaced for you when we met.
Certainly, we had no idea about anything else being a problem, and all concerned are very surprised and sorry to read your review.
