Never again

We have eaten here many times in the past. Always book when family are over from Canada, normally 10/12 persons. Sister was over on a visit and booked a table for four on this occasion. Seated quickly and ordered within 20 mins, 3 cokes and one pint shandy, starters two soups and two haggis Bon Bon’s. All nice and tasty, mains one roast beef, one chicken supreme and two gammon. Sirloin could barely be cut and after a few mouthfuls requested it be changed for gammon. Paid bill £201 inc 12:5% service charge, they had still charged for the beef got home and guest who had the beef was sick and had to go to her bed. Contacted the Inn and received a response saying “ glad you enjoyed the visit” not happy so sent another response which hasn’t been replied to. Sister called the inn on Monday and was told would get a call back. Tuesday still no callback so contacted again and advised would get a callback. Received callback and refund arranged, Firstly no apology, secondly no concern for the guest who was ill and missed a day off work. If you request a survey make sure it’s read and replied to correctly. Suffice to say we will not be back, which is sad as in the past everything has been great 😞

Came here yesterday for lunch before going on holiday. Came in sat down and waited for staff to come and take our order. No one came. Had to go and find someone myself. Good came and was completely tasteless and very disappointing. The decor and furniture was scruffy and the prices were way over what you would expect for what you get. We would definitely not go again.

An overnight experience at The Bridge.

My wife and I decided to try an overnight stay and boy were we disappointed. The room we were given was tiny (I suspect all three rooms are) measuring about ten feet by ten feet. Once a double bed was in the room there was barely crawl space around it. The TV was always a health hazard for head banging and was hanging off the wall. There was nowhere to sit or work on my lap top. All in all a never to be repeated exercise. For the money paid it was a disgrace. The food of late has gone down hill as it used to be superb with good sized portions....now it's very much a lottery. My fish was mushy and generally not good. I don't think it's worth the risk now....too expensive and hit or miss.

Portion sizes vs Cost?

Whilst the venue and service was great. The cost of their steaks needs a review for a really small steak the cost is over £30 IMHO its not worth it. Portion sizes are important when you are charging pretty hefty prices on steak regardless of the cut. You leave feeling a little ripped off ...

Beautiful meal and surroundings

We stopped here for dinner while on a narrow boat holiday and we're not disappointed!
There were five adults and two kids all having a main meal and drinks and our bill was about £160.
Service was lovely and friendly, the restaurant itself is comfy and beautifully decorated.
There is a large drinks menu and I highly recommend the strawberry lemonade!

I had the smoked haddock mornay and it was truly incredible!! I almost cried it was so good and I honestly would have that again and again!!
We would definitely stop here again if in ratho . Also book in advance! We were there midweek and it was still busy!

First Visit

My wife and I visited the restaurant for the first time on Friday 24th February. The food, service and staff friendliness were great and we thoroughly engaged our lunch.
Unfortunately, the "Ladies & Gents" were not up to standard - with "Out of Use" notices in evidence. What a pity to spoil the experience with these facilities.
Would have awarded a five star rating, if the facilities were better.

Fabulous lunch

Fabulous.
Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Delightful restaurant, fresh decor, country homey feeling, positioned on edge of canal.
Great menu selection for both adults and children, excellent value for money.
Both my daughter and I had an enjoyable lunch and will definitely be returning and will consider staying over in their hotel on our next visit to Edinburgh.
I had sweet potato & lime soup with sourdough bread. It had a fabulous flavour and smooth thick texture. The kids fish goujons came in a delicate batter with tender white fish.
Definitely recommend.

Despite arriving on time for our 12:30…

Despite arriving on time for our 12:30 Sunday Lunch Reservation, we were seated but not actually served our meal before 1:15. This despite an initial request to vacate the table within 2 hours.
Only when attempting to order one of the Main courses were we informed that it was “finished” and not on arrival. Similarly, when attempting to order a Sweet, we were advised the the Restaurant had no Cheese! Again this was not advised when handed the Menu.
Wine (unopened) and 4 glasses arrived and was deposited without ceremony.
Standards have slipped in direct proportion to the increased prices.

Sunday lunch at the Bridge Inn Ratho

The way this place sells itself and the amount they charge, you expect something a bit special. But that’s not what we found.
It took me having to track down staff to place an order, as we hadn’t see anyone for all most 20mins after being seated (not always the best with a hungry wee one). We picked the Sunday roast but they were sold out by 2pm. Same for my second choice.
When we did get the food mine was really salty and the kids fish was over cooked to the point the batter was more like crackling.
The whole experience was just a let down which is ashame. They have a lovely location, a growing community around them and could be something special. I know they’ve had some good reviews but to those reviewers I say try somewhere new. Standards of service have moved on from the 70’s
