Useless

Useless, not fit for purpose. City has become a cesspit under those green muppets. Rubbish everywhere, drunks, homeless, drugs, traffic is standstill, parking expensive, all they care about is how to make your life worse.

The seafront needs to be kept cleaner

The seafront needs to be kept cleaner, especially on busy days and the bins in all the parks need to be emptied on weekends and bank holidays, it’s not rockets science. Also the council have a wonderful policy of not using weed killers in the pavements and verges however this then causes them to become over grown with weeds and a potential trip hazard not to mention how terrible it all looks. Madeira Drive is a total mess, other people will mention the poorly thought out bike lanes which are strangerling the main roads and leading more traffic to use smaller urban roads in a bid to get around the ques. Planning is being given to overly high apartment blocks, very few with parking, very few of which will provide homes for anyone on the housing list in Brighton. Pavement parking is not dealt with which means that it’s harder for people to walk round and god help you of your disabled and need to use a wheelchair or mobility scooter or are VI.
I do like the bin men....have always had good service from regular crews.

Brighton has been totally ruined by the…Green party

Brighton has been totally ruined by the Greens. Cars gridlocked everywhere with the pathetic cycle lanes which are hardly used.Trying to get to the Hospital for an appointment is unbelievably difficult,it takes twice as long. The whole place is a dump now.Hope no one needs to drive to Brighton Centre for a Covid jab, you’ve got no chance!

The sooner this bunch of self serving…

The sooner this bunch of self serving cretins are removed from office the better it will be for all of us. They have ruined the city with their obsession for useless barely used cycle lanes and unnecessary road closures. They are too stupid to acknowledge that they are causing a drastic increase in pollution from the queues of traffic caused by their brainless actions.

Poorly managed council

Poorly managed council. Ploughs on with own agenda without thorough consultation and consideration to resident and tourism needs. Recycling atrocious. Green issues extremely important but are not being implemented in a well thought out and balanced way. 'Gung ho' is the expression that springs to mind!

Ruining our city

Ruining our city. They have their own agenda and are NOT serving the people. Brighton and Hove relies on tourism and the council are hell bent on destroying this with their half cocked, badly thought out, bull in a China shop approach. Good cycle lanes, use of electric cars and other eco friendly options are of course vital to make a change to our environment but to have options like this you need other options in place to ensure you still encourage families, tourism etc without it being a nightmare to enter or exit our city, e.g a park and ride system would be a good start. Let’s also be clear, the Green council were NOT voted in, they are there by default (Labour councillors left their posts, leaving the door open for the Greens to side swipe into the position) Because of this, I personally do not believe they should even be able to make decisions/change things about our city but instead remain there in a ‘caretaker role’ until the next local council elections in two years time.

As many others have said

As many others have said - this council does not deserve even one star. Heartbreaking the way they are destroying the town with their ridiculous ideas. As one of the older residents who is unable to walk far let alone cycle I rely on my car to allow me a degree of independence. However I now need to travel to other towns as Brighton is off limits due to the lack of,and price of, parking. Unfortunately there is a lot more damage they can do before the next election.

I have lived in a small village outside…

I have lived in a small village outside Brighton for over 50 years. I have driven ( i live in a very rural area and a woman alone) to spend money in restaurants, pubs, entertainment venues shops. No longer. The parking charges are off the scale, if you can find a place. The gridlock of traffic makes a journey long and frustrating. I attend a 2 hour course at MET college on a weekeday. About 4 years ago it was £3.90 for 3 hours. Now £11.50. Brighton now filthy, Maderia Drive falling into disrepair. No loos. There use to be amazing flowers in beds welcoming visitors as they drove past Preston Park. You many not want us ‘ pheasants’ coming into your cool city but we used to spend money. Also don’t tell me your don’t want cars as more pollution in traffic jams also trains expensive, unreliable and don’t run late at night. Brighton council would rather have that hideous i 360 than an amazing West Pier or to restore Maderia Terraces. Never had a proper Ice Rink and allowed corruption to hold up KIng Alfred. I live in Mid Sussex and our refuse and recycling puts Brighton to shame. Only my humble opinions which no one at Brighton Council cares about

As a 40 year resident of Brighton &…

As a 40 year resident of Brighton & Hove I am absolutely dismayed at how this City is being brought down to its knees !
When I moved here this city was alive and buzzing but now it is alas an empty shell of its former self .
This council is totally inept at how a great city should be run and needs to be removed forthwith!!

Born and bred in a city I no longer…

Born and bred in a city I no longer recognise. I got on board with the cycle lanes at first because of the lockdown, but it wasn’t being used to its full potential and now with the easing of restrictions the council are not acting sensibly and keeping the town moving! We all want to share a space that is limited by the fact we have the sea on one side! Maybe the Green council want us all on paddle boards and illegal electric scooters to ferry ourselves around on! Shocking waste of my council tax which has increased again another £100 odd, for what. Dirty streets, congestion, bad road planning, horrendous pot holes and incessant road works. Stop ruining my city Greens and work with others to make it a city to be proud of and desirable to visit with good cheap parking and a seafront that celebrates the old parts and champions the new!...

The new gardens changed my life for the better

As a young person who has lived in Brighton for twelve years, every year my life in the city got better thanks to Brighton Council policies. I suddenly found the most beautiful gardens had sprung up near me, they were such comfort during lockdown, they changed my life for the better. I want to do my bit for society and keep active so I cycle everywhere which the council has made increasingly easy and safe. North Laine is getting more and more pedestrianised days which means the space used by ugly cars can be used to dine al fresco and walk without the anxiety of having cars beeping at you. Thank you Brighton Council for your incredible efforts, improving our health and wellbeing in this beautiful city!

The Green council have destroyed Brighton & Hove

The Green council have destroyed our city. These lunatics have gridlocked the city so they can create cycle lanes that sit unused. They lied and defrauded central government to gain millions in grants by making up cycling statistics.
Our council tax is astronomical with nothing to show for it, the Green council are all clowns!!

Born and bred here

Born and bred here.
What can I say that hasn't been said before.
Inept, deluded, power crazy, hypocritical. I used to occasionally park on an area of grass in Hove. There were no signs saying not to park there, it wasn't inconveniencing anyone. One day as I got in my vehicle a council 'officer' came up and said "You cant park there, its our land". I quickly corrected him and explained that it is not in fact their land, it is public land.
This is where the problem lies. They believe that they are there to govern us. Power crazy t***s.

Makes me want to leave my lifetime home

I have lived in Brighton my entire life and recently on a trip away to friends who used to live here, I was telling them everything that had changed and it made me sad to say that my hometown is no longer a nice place to live. The greens are destroying my home and soon it will be unrecognisable. I feel like I have no choice (through expense and the difficulty of getting around the city) to consider moving from the place I have spent my entire life!! I think it’s disgusting that students are allowed to vote yet have no real knowledge or concern about how their choices effect the city, and probably don’t stay here for the full term in which they voted for anyway. Due to a chronic medical condition I am not able to cycle everywhere and the fact that councillors are not taking that into consideration is disgusting. GET THEM OUT AND GET BRIGHTON BACK TO WHAT IT USED TO BE

BHCC are ruining this City

BHCC are ruining this City. They have created chaos along the seafront, wasted millions on cycle lanes, clogging up the traffic and polluting the air. There is nowhere to park, unsightly porta loos dumped on Hove Lawns, bins overflowing with rubbish. As for what they’re doing to Madeira Drive that’s a disgrace. They need to be removed from power - there actions are illegal.
