Review for an entrance intercom system for a small building. Overall, it is a mixed bag. Prompt customer service. Dashboard interface works for HOA needs and app easy for all tenants. Much better than other systems we have had. However, sometimes the system just does not work. For no apparent reason. And we don't know about it until a delivery is missed or a friend calls a tenant. Also, we have had to reset the system several times as we lose the internet connection. For now, we are satisfied given our prior experiences.

2 days after I signed up for the app I get a Google critical security alert that the password for the app has been compromised. I also read online that the sell your data. If my password has been compromised after 2 days then their security sucks. It was a complex password, not used before in other apps.

Butterfly seem to have achieved the amazing feat of re-inventing the wheel so the wheel doesn't turn around.
This system does not fulfil the basic functions of a normal doorbell ie alerting all residents that there is someone at the door.
The company urgently needs to make it possible for one listing to call multiple cellphones simultaneously.
Until it does so, you would be well-advised to avoid this expensive fiasco.

Works intermittently. Unreliable. For the past week, i have not been able to unlock the door, even though the app says unlocked. Butterfly personnel told me the problem was the building and not their app. I complained to building management, and they tried the system and it worked for them. It also worked for the super. But it did not work for me. The old pushbutton system was always reliable.

The ads posted online say their products are affordable and easy to install. ButterflyMx is neither. For a small system for a 3,500 sq. ft. warehouse with two exterior doors, one 14 foot overhead door and two windows, I was quoted $3,000 plus $2,000 for install. To get this quote you have to make an appointment to Zoom with a sales rep. Overpriced and not easy yo install.

Butterlfy MX is nothing but a spy device for landlords. It is TERRIBLE and often fails. The post office can't get in and neither can you when it keeps telling you you have no WiFi. Unlike a normal intercom, it rings one phone so you cant even answer a delivery for your roommate--only their phone rings. The video is nonsense--screen captures are never correct. You can't swipe your phone in winter without taking off gloves and even then it often fails. Very UNSAFE since you have to stand there waving your phone around even before you get near the door, and the door stays open 10 seconds no mater who is following you. No way to contact them with issues either. It is marketed as a landlord spy device. "Do you have illegal tenants...?' Tenants hate it.

As a consumer, I like being able to use it for entry to my building. However, people should know that if your building/internet wifi server is down, ButterflyMX will not WORK. This can happen often. In those cases, I always keep my old school keys with me just in case.

We love our ButterflyMX. We installed their video intercom in a 32-unit apartment building we own and manage in Chelsea, New York City. I love this idea! I’ve lived in apartments for most of my 20s and having the ability to call up a door dash or Instacart deliveryman is very convenient. I’ve had no issues with the software so far!
