No standing orders
The archaic account opening was annoying but soon over. But then I found the account has no facility to set up a standing order for regular withdrawals. And setting up monthly payments requires a lot more work than any other bank. So I will move my money elsewhere.
No access to account where I sent money already
I always check reviews here, but this time trusting Santander name I just went ahead and opened a saver account.
Been offer to transfer without having access to the account, I was like no thank you. Waited for the letters, changed the log in details, sent my savings on the account, now like others can’t access my account as the security code not right which I never been prompted to change.
Now waiting for 4-6 working days for new letters with new log in details, no matter I have confirmed every single detail they asked for. Asked to speak with a manager, but they are on holiday, so I guess I shall wait????
Like banking before apps made things easier
The online banking feels very dated and is awkward to use on a mobile phone since the web pages (there's no app) are designed for a bigger screen. The authentication is clumsy and old fashioned too (no biometrics here). Even closing the account requires a secure message to Cahoot to do this manually. Compared to modern banking apps, this is a joyless experience. Shame, because the interest rate was competitive, but not worth the hassle.
Bad systems and procedures, etc.
I opened an online savings account, but they wouldn't let me access it because they did not have my correct address, so I have to send documentation to link accounts together - as if I am EVER going to go through the stress of doing this! Then, you cannot send them an email to tell them to close it - absolutely ridiculous!
Not at all customer friendly.
Applied for the basic instant access saver account, they sent me account details but asked for me to post 2 forms of ID. Absolutely no way I am doing that, but there is also no online way to get the account deleted. What a farce.
Gave up applying after going round and round...
After seeing very attractive savings rates and a recommend from Which?, I attempted to open an account. After several days of submitting, and resubmitting documents, then getting an email saying I needed to mail a black and white copy of my passport, I gave up. They obviously don't want me to move my account from Lloyds.
Worst experience of my life with a…
Worst experience of my life with a bank. After almost 2 months they state they cannot open an account for lack of proof of address and ID. I sent them over 10 documents, some of which directly coming from the government (council tax, right to live and work in the UK, driving licence) and still, to Cahoot, all this is not enough. INCREDIBLE. UNBELIEVABLE.
I've now given up and opened an account elsewhere, in 30 minutes.
Never ever again.
Excellent service
Easy to setup account and offering much better rates than the big banks. Had to wait 4 days for 2 security letters to arrive but clear instructions made account setup simple. Transferred funds to Cahoot and they appeared immediately in my account. Why can't all finance transactions be as simple and quick; they should be now given computer to computer transfers.
Just opened a sunny day Saver account
Just opened a sunny day Saver account
2 letters arrived with log in details you have to scratch open boxes to reveal log in details very crude in my opinion anyway tried to log in with the numbers letters
got to entering a password then went to proceed it went back to log again which I couldn't do as it never allowed me to create a security number very frustrating will ask for my deposit back and close the account
this bank needs to get up to date with login procedures like it's sister company Santander
Don't waste your time with this bank.
Complete CAHOOT Catastrophe!
Online PIN doesn't work. Locked out of account. Until new details arrive by post no ability to move funds at all. Complaint instigated but attempt made to dissuade me from doing so - gaslighting on steroids by the customer service representative! A dedicated complaint handler will be contacting me (although previously advised they don't have a complaints team)!
Terrible company
Terrible company. Account set up by wife and used for pyramid sales that did not work. I closed the account with her paying off all that Cahoot stated - however as a few days after statement a few pennies were left.
Fast forward about 10 years or more and Cahoot are asking for outstanding balance from my late wife's estate. Disgraceful for a handful of £s.
Avoid if you can and their parent company Santander who allow this to happen.
Awful customer service
Awful systems & customer service. Never again.
Online banking just doesn't work
Opened account and never been able to access online banking as code never arrived to my phone. Eventually got through on the phone and told there had been a mistake and my mobile number had been input one digit wrong. They couldn't change it because I don't have a landline, but if i wanted to ring up a month later they could? Needless to say I closed the account.
Competitive rates, but poor account opening experience.
I have just opened a new account with Cahoot after closing an old account some years ago. They have some very competitive savings rates, but unfortunately the account opening process has not progressed with technology and is archaic compared to the competition. It took over two weeks using snail mail to gain online access to my account. I then wanted to open a further Sunny Day Saver account and found I had to do the same new customer application process again. It feels like they have not invested in their business processes in since I first had an account with them over 10 years ago. Four stars for the interest on offer, but two stars for the customer experience. Come on Santander, you can do better!!
Very poor interface for 2025
I had difficulty seeing up my Easy Access savings account (as recommended by Money Saving Expert) due to an issue with changing my security code. After speaking to one of their very helpful customer support people, I eventually got access.
I have, however, been very disappointed with the fact that there is no phone app and the transactions pages are in no way mobile aware, meaning I need to get my laptop out to perform any transactions, as well as having my phone available to receive the several OTPs you are sent during any transaction process.
I'll put up with the abysmal interface for the relatively high interest rates but will not be sticking around at the end of my Introductory 12 months

Easy to use website and great interest rates.
Everything sent by post for an online account!
I assumed an online account would have an app, but no. It's a website with tiny writing so difficult to read on a phone, The second time I logged on (after having to wait for a week to get login details in the post) it wouldn't accept the PIN which I had only set an hour before. I followed the procedure to reset it and now I have to wait for another letter in the post! I couldn't believe it! I opened an account because the interest rate is really good but I'll look elsewhere.
After a shaky start all is good
I applied for a Cahoot Simple Saver account. After completing all the details online, I was told that my account is now open but before I could access my account, I would have to wait up to seven days for two letters which would arrive separately. In these two letters would be my security number and temporary password. It was twelve days before the two letters arrived together.
After nine days and eleven days I phoned Cahoot to say I had not received the letters. They told me they could send two more letters but if the first two letters turned up in the meantime, I would not be able to use them and would have to wait for the second pair of letters, so I decided to wait a bit longer for the original letters. Sure, enough they were delivered together the next day, the 12th day. I phoned up twice and both time my call was answered immediately.
On my mobile I repeatedly tried logging on but I kept getting error messages such as, “there has been a technical error” and I was just about to phone up when I decided to try it with my laptop and hey presto it worked first time.
So, after a shaky start I am now up and running with my Simple Saver and Sunny Day accounts but not on my mobile. I experimented with depositing and withdrawing money and all worked well. So up to now I am very happy with my Cahoot account.
