Awful customer service

I am an owner and listed my vehicle on this site. I deleted my images so I can add new ones and the site seems to have a glitch when trying to upload the images. 1 month since contacting customer service and no response. Absolutely awful service. I will be removing my vehicle from this site.

Avoid at all costs.

This appears to be a great idea and I don't doubt that many of the owners are offering a decent Campervan rental experience.

However, once you have committed to a particular owner/Campervan and Camperbug have their money (£80 non-refundable deposit which you need to pay to get the owner's contact details ) you are completely at the mercy of the owner being organised and actually having a roadworthy vehicle with MOT.

The owner for the Diego Campervan, in Seaford, ultimately did not provide the camper van I had reserved and let me down the night before our trip was due to commence, an appalling situation to be in.

So, I have contacted Camperbug to explain that the camper van I paid a deposit to them for was not forthcoming and I would like a refund but I have received not even the courtesy of a reply.

There's every chance you also could pay a deposit to them and you will be left with nothing. Terrible, in fact non-existent, customer service. The fact they no longer reply to negative reviews says everything.

Waste of time and money

Avoiding at all costs and save your money. Duplication of effort giving driving info only for the individual listing to ask for them again. They take a large cut of the booking, offer no support or contact info. Google directly for camper van hires in the area and save your money.

Finally, a camping website that's easy to navigate…

The website is easy to navigate compared to many others. It is clear what you can and cannot do. Just praying their arrival cut off time of 6pm has a bit of wriggle room, as traffic can be naughty on a Friday! I guess we could always leave our car somewhere and walk in with pop up tents. Fingers crossed..

What a terrible website

What a terrible website. I cannot find how to cancel my booking at all. And the contact form to email camperbug doesn't work. I'm cancelling because apparently the van starter motor is broken, but the owner didn't tell me until I saw the listing was withdrawn. Won't use them again

Completely unusable site - the owner must decide whether to commit to the booking without being able to gather or share the information required to meet the needs of the UK's main SDH insurer. Going ahead risks being charged cancellation fees if it then turns out there's an issue. Avoid

Terrible experience

While I'm sure if you get a good campervan this website is fine there is literally no recourse of you happen to pick a bad one by mistake.
We rented "Viveen" (avoid like the plague). It didn't resemble the pictures on the website which must be quite old.
The van was quite dirty with stained seats, the window wipers were ragged and not fit for purpose, parts of the upholstery were torn or damaged, there was no screen or curtain to pull across the windscreen so there was no privacy, the camping equipment was dirty and worn, the main lights only worked during the day so we spent 3 nights in darkness. Despite contacting the owner about this nothing was resolved.
We asked the owner for a partial refund as our experience was so poor but he refused.
We contacted the website but no one bothered getting back to us.

Camperbug, think twice

We booked the campervan with camperbug, had the dates accepted by the owner, paid the deposit to camperbug, thought all was sorted, we were due to go away for a couple of nights to try out a campervan before we decided to buy one, 2 days before the trip, (site already booked and paid for) i hadn't heard from the owner regarding pick up time, so I got his number of the camperbug booking page and rang him, to be immediately told he would check his camperbug page and message me back, 5 minutes later a phone call, I was informed the booking hadn't been confirmed by camperbug, so vehicle wasn't available, great!! To be fair he did return deposit, but not camp site fees that i paid.
He told me camperbug were probably the worst site to book with, and they never informed him of the completion of the booking after I paid the deposit, I certainly wouldn't advise using them.

Dishonest quotes and no customer service

I agreed dates and accepted a quote to hire a van for 4 nights during May half term. I am in Surrey and had planned to go to either Wales or Cornwall - not unreasonable locations for camping with a family. Upon paying my 'non-refundable' deposit to secure the booking, I was told by the hirer there was a 100 mile per night mileage allowance. Anything over that and there is an additional cost (39p per mile). My 4 night booking gave me 400 miles in total, to include picking up and dropping off the van. Not enough to get to Wales and back or Cornwall and back. So totally not fit for purpose. It feels dishonest not to declare this upfront at the time of quoting and agreeing a price.
CamperBug have not responded to my complaint and there is no phone number. Agree with the large number of other reviewers who think this is a scam site.

Camperbud is really easy to use

Website is really easy to navigate and allows you to select a camper both geographically and visually so you can find the perfect vehicle to match your needs.
Once you have made a selection of vehicle and hire period, you receive a quote and the option to contact the camper owner directly to establish costs of insurance and deposit.
It all works really well and allows you to be in control of your plans and expenses!

Looking good

First time I've browsed this website (Camperbug) and I like it very much. Seems to have a lot of sites to choose from. I'll be using it a lot to plan trips this coming summer.
