Capital One bought Discover card

Capital One bought Discover card. Someone intercepted the account and new card during the change and never realized the card was intercept til fraudulent charges were adding up on the account.they also open a Venture card account based on the diviner card information. Probably an inside job or someone working at capital One. Capital One had very poor service to get this fixed. DO NOT USE THEM.

Unprofessional Customer Service

Opened 2 CDs online, everything went fine with the first one, but couldn't add my husband as joint owner on the second. Called, first person was very helpful, but we got cut off. Called back, second person told my husband she'd walk him through the process and ended up getting him to open a checking account (which we insisted they close immediately). Eventually we insisted on a supervisor, who took over an hour to get it done. Second person and supervisor insisted they were unable to send codes to our phones then did so with no problem later. Worst, when I suggested we just close the account, I was told there would be penalties if closing the CD which had been opened that morning, and still not successfully. We will not be using this bank for anything else, and intend to transfer these CDs as soon as they are due - despite decent rates - all because of abysmal customer service.

Bad Bank

I’m frustrated and being honest: they delay my payments and charge me late fees when I have bills to pay because I need my money available. They question legitimate part-time work income, block transfers, and claim I can’t receive money unless it’s payroll. They hold and delay even Zelle transfers, even when it’s from people I know.

The Worst

I was on the phone with them for almost 30 minutes. The 1st rep couldnt speak clearly, I has to ask him over and over what was he saying. The second rep JACK that was taking my claim asked me the same questions over and over, he placed me on hold like 6 times. Unbelievable! how bad the customer service has gotten. They used to be so nice, helpful and fast.

Absolutely do not trust this financial institution with your business money. They called the person who wrote the check and confirmed funds. Called branch and branch confirmed.
Still decided to hole check for days which caused our business to stall and we lost clients.

This place is not a bank! They can not perform simple bank transactions like brick and mortar institutions can.

They are a complete joke!

If there were a rating below one star

If there were a rating below one star, this bank would deserve it. RUN! 🏃‍♂️💨

On 3/28/2026, I transferred $1,800 electronically from my 2 Hawaii account to pay house and car insurance. On 3/30/26, I called up the banks in Hawaii and let talk to Capital One.

I made seven calls in three days, Despite this, they put me in the fraud department. They told me my money would be available on 4/3/26. On 3/31/26, they changed it to 4/6/26 — even though they promised cleared funds wouldn’t be held that long.

On 4/3/26, the money had cleared, yet they still held it until 4/6/26, giving me a grand total of 2×$0.01 in interest. This money was essential for bills, and they clearly didn’t care.

They are super friendly when opening an account, but when it comes to releasing your own money, they are slower than turtles.

From the Philippines to the UK to Hawaii, this is the worst bank experience I’ve ever had.

Fraud department seems designed only to hold your money hostage. BEWARE! ⚠️

A month

I have been an account holder for about a month. Customer service has been quick to answer and have been able to answer my questions.

All our accounts are family trust accounts with my wife and I as co-trustees. Either trustee can act independently of the other. There are difficulties dealing with Capital One trying to set up accounts as trust accounts.

The procedures in place to set up trust accounts are cumbersome and difficult to deal with. For each account we want to establish we need to go through the same procedure, open the account as an individual account then file forms to convert the account to a trust account. The forms can be returned either through the mail (and wait for the mail turnaround time) or through a provided link.

It took 3 trials and about a week to complete the form before the first account was converted. I then opened two more accounts. I have yet to complete the conversions. The forms are being reviewed in the trust department. There is not a direct contact to the trust department, rather I need to go through customer service. This makes it difficult to understand and correct issues.

With bank accounts I have at other banks, I need to complete the process once. Then the information is stored and I can choose to open an account in our trust name directly without repeating the extra step (as long as the account is titled in the same trust name without any changes).

One major concern is that there are also significant restrictions on being able to post a check through the app. I had a check in my wife's name. Fortunately, I had contacted support in advance to make sure there were not any issues. I was told that checks deposited to a trust account must be in the name of the trust account. To clarify I asked if that means any checks deposited to a trust account would need to be payable to the trust and a check payable to one of the trustees would be returned as not be depositable? The answer was yes.

I have never run across this situation prior. All my other accounts do accept checks made out to one of the trustees. Almost all the checks we receive are in either one (or both) name(s). We do not usually receive checks in the trust name.

This, unfortunately, makes trust accounts unusable for normal usage. We will keep the accounts for now since the CD rates are quite good but not as our main bank.

What a dumpster fire

What a dumpster fire. About every 4 seconds they shut down my card for "suspected fraud". Then we review the charges and I say yes I recognize the charge, then someone in customer service from India always tells me that they are shutting down the card anyway "to be safe". I ONLY got the card for the travel points. I have had it MAYBE 8 months and this is the second time shutting it down. There is literally NO POINT in reviewing transactions if you are just shutting it down anyway. And how little do you pay those people from India in customer service? It's clear you outsource to save $$ but the accents are nearly impossible to understand without them repeating themselves 18 times. Here's how you can cut cost- stop shutting down card AFTER I have verified the charges. Sending me a new card is such a waste of resources.

I am बेहद disappointed with the way my account has been handled. I took out a cash advance and paid it off within a short period of time, expecting that to resolve the matter. However, months later, I am still being charged interest on that same transaction.

When I contacted customer service, I was told that interest continues until the entire credit card balance is paid off—not just the cash advance portion. This was never made clear at the time of the transaction, and it feels extremely misleading. A customer should not still be paying interest on a cash advance four months later, especially when it was paid back promptly.

This type of policy lacks transparency and creates the impression that the system is designed to keep customers paying fees long after they believe they’ve done the right thing. It’s frustrating, confusing, and frankly unacceptable.

Financial institutions should operate with clarity and fairness. Customers deserve to understand exactly how interest is applied—especially on something as costly as a cash advance. I strongly urge Capital One to be more upfront about these terms and to reconsider how they handle these charges.

Until then, I would caution others to think twice before taking a cash advance or relying on clear communication from this company

WORST BANKING INSTITUTION

I have had the worst banking experience of my life with Capital One Bank. I recently opened a 360 checking account with this bank. After my direct deposit not being accepted in a timely manner, my employer issued me a paper check. I elected to check the mobile banking app to deposit the check into the account. Their banking app stated checks deposited into the checking account would be available the following business day and checks deposited into the savings would be available within four business days. I decided to deposit my payroll check into the checking based on the fact that I believed my money would become available next day. After I completed the deposit Capital One Bank placed a 8 day hold on my paycheck. I then called customer service to request the transaction be cancelled and my check be returned to me or that Capital One Bank would honor what they claimed and make my funds available the next business day. After being on the phone with the most careless, callus, cold, rude, heatless unprofessionals for over an hour, also being made to call my employer on a three way call to verify my pay check with a Capital One Bank representatives my funds were still not released to me and my paycheck was not returned. I further checked with my employer to ask them to stop payment on the check and reissue me a new check so I could have my paycheck cashed elsewhere and my employer confirmed that Capital One Bank had indeed cashed my check was in short holding my money hostage. My family had a holiday vacation planned this weekend. We all took time off time from work to travel out of town to visit my parents with my new grandson. My family's trip had to be cancelled because of what Capital One Bank did to me. We lost money and time off from work because of Capital One Banks shady business practices. I would never recommend Capital One Bank to anyone EVER!!!! WORST BANKING INSTITUTION IN THE HISTORY OF BANKS! DO NOT BANK WITH CAPITAL ONE BANK!!!!

What a clown show

Terrible customer service. I have very good income and a 822 credit score and pay all my bills on time and travel a lot. It took them three attempts to even get the card to the right address, which was a nightmare with my travel schedule. I was unable to use it as apple pay for the first few months for reasons no one could explain. When I signed up, I specifically asked about the priority pass benefit, was assured it was fine, only to be told months later only business cards qualify. I spent HOURS on the phone with them from the Middle East trying to untangle their mailing issues and their inability to allow me to use apple pay. After reaching the spending that gives me the intro points, WITHOUT A CALL, TEXT OR EMAIL, they shut my card down to verify my income ("flagged for fraud"), in the middle of my daughter's wedding weekend before I used the card. They wanted income statements and their follow up (to the secondary card holder, not me) included a call from the fraud dept that was a textbook example of what scams sound like, "do you know (insert my name)." What a nightmare. I am using my bonus points and going back to Sapphire Reserve.

ZERO fraud help

I have been a loyal Capital One customer for over 20 years but that ends now. I filed a dispute claim against a TOTAL SCAM and although I have provided every piece of documentation proving I canceled the reservation, I am still being charged the fraudulent amount. Thanks for NOTHING. What’s in my wallet?? NOT Capital One.

I have never been fond of Capital One

I have never been fond of Capital One. I was so sad to know that Capital One is now Discover, I have shredded my card and paid my debt in full. I will not be giving any more money to this bank. They were bad news when I had a credit card with them in the past as well. Since paying my card off they seem to delay processing payments. I paid three accounts on Citibank on the same day as Capital one. Citibank has processed payments within a day. I’m still waiting on Capital One three days later. So sad. Do better Capital One and fairwell pitiful company.

Here’s a good one

Here’s a good one. $11,900 fraud / scam charge by a fictitious moving company. I dispute it as no such services were provided. Capital One allows the charge. Had nine years with company paid my balance every month like clockwork. Filed a formal complaint with the US Attorney General’s Office. I highly recommend seeking other credit card options. They also have had several intrusions/ breaches of customer information.

They restricted my card when i tried to…

They restricted my card when i tried to make a payment from a bank that had already been validated by them and from which I consistently made payments. When I called them the only reason they gave was "it was flagged" but could not tell me why. There would have been no reason for them to think it was fraud since I've been using that bank to pay my balance for years! Then they called the bank even though I told them it would be closed since it was after 5 pm. They wanted to call anyway and put me on hold for 20 minutes then came back on and said they are closed. WTH!!! Then they said the next step would be to send them my last two statements with the full account number. I said I was not comfortable with that and was basically told that's too bad so sad for you. I told her that even if I were to send it, this bank does not put the full account number on the statement, only the last four digits. Her response was, "well just open the app on your phone and take a screenshot of it". What??? I just said they don't put the full account numbers on the statement, what difference does it make whether I'm on the computer or the phone?? At this point I had to end the call because I could feel my blood pressure rising!

I called back the next day during banking hours and this rep managed to get someone on the line who told her that they would not validate my account over the phone, that I would have to go in person to one of their branches.

I'm almost 70 and I don't need this bullshit! Pretty soon you will have to get blood drawn to access your own bank account!!
