Working with Cardell Media

Working with Cardell Media’s Elite Social Media Programme has been an excellent experience. The campaign has proven to be both exciting and well-focused. Additionally, they created a well-designed, user-friendly website for me that features appealing video imagery, clear navigation, and an excellent layout. I am very pleased with the results so far.

Advanced Video offered on FB never came

There is a Reel on Facebook that advertises Advanced Thinking. I purchased it and I received a thank you the payment, but I have not received the Video instructions for using the Advanced Thinking. It is disappointing, Please either send the video or return the money that has been taken from account.

I am fed up with continuous emails from Chris Cardell. I have tried blocking them and this just doesn't work. We are hounded by junk mail every day, and to receive, on average 5 emails from Chris Cardell in a day, every day, is unacceptable and you can't seem to block the emails. Please stop this.

This company uses FAKE REVIEWS

I came here to find out whether Chris Cardell's company is a scam, after I signed up for his free book (offered to me via a message on LinkedIn) and was then offered a place at an exclusive event - for which I was then asked to provide my card details for a refundable deposit. From what I have seen here it is not exactly a scam, but his is certainly not a marketing company with whom I would ever want my own business to be associated, and I strongly disapprove of his methods based on what I have just discovered.

What am I talking about? Well, on this very page you will see a particular review (although hopefully they will in due course remove it, as I have just flagged and reported it) from one "Lauren Bailey". She rates Chris Cardell 5 stars and says:

"I've worked with Chris and his team for the last two years. He really is an authority in social media marketing. My account manager has been very supportive and I can tell has a heap of experience. Highly recommended."

Fair enough. I then carried on scrolling through the reviews, including a fair smattering of 1-stars, including one 1-star review by someone whose name I can't remember as I type this, but can easily be identified on the main review page as it is the only review to date which has received a reply from Chris Cardell's company. I read through the reply, and found it to be the usual combination of platitudes and defensiveness - pretty standard stuff. But imagine my surprise when I saw the name of the representative/employee replying on behalf of Chris Cardell? You guessed it - "Lauren Bailey".

Not exactly a unique name, I admit, but coincidence? I think not. Especially when you see that Lauren Bailey's reviewer account joined Trustpilot on the same day the review was posted and it is the only review made by that account to date. Yet the review in question most certainly does not disclose that it was written by an employee. To the contrary, it dishonestly implies that "Lauren Bailey" is a customer of Chris Cardell, because the reviewer mentions their "account manager" and how supportive they are...

So, it seems that one of Chris Cardell's famous marketing tricks is to use employees to leave fake reviews and 5-star ratings. I consider that to be a dishonest and frankly pathetic tactic, and have no wish whatsoever to tread that path to promote my own business, nor to be guided by someone like Chris Cardell who thinks this is an acceptable practice.

And it's not just that; since receiving the free book yesterday (full disclosure: I haven't read it so am not in a position to confirm or deny any of the other reviews that consider the content to be worthless/too basic), I have received a number of pushy sales emails. Now, I am someone who has built up my entire client base - and a successful business - exclusively using email marketing. I have no problem whatsoever with email marketing when done right. But the volume of Chris Cardell's emails - I received 3 within 2 hours this morning - and the high-pressure sales tone that he has chosen to use within the content of his emails, is just a big massive NO from me. I do not respond to that sort of sales attack, and nor do I wish to annoy and offend (and completely lose) my potential clients by following this methodology in my own email marketing campaigns.

Needless to say, I promptly unsubscribed using the link on the emails. I see from the reviews on this page that some people had trouble getting the contacts to stop, and I do wonder whether they will honour the request to unsubscribe, and whether I am going to be treated to sales call and/or texts in lieu. I will not hesitate to contact the ICO in the case of the former, and again if they ignore a request over the phone to remove me from their call/text lists.

In summary: it's not a scam, and I have no idea what the quality of the free book is like (I won't be reading it now, for the above reasons). But this company uses the dishonest practice of faking 5-star reviews using employees masquerading as clients (who, frankly, aren't quite clever enough to remember not to then reply to reviews on behalf of their employer using the same name); and furthermore, its approach to email marketing is far, far from best practice in my view, and amounts to harassing people with unwelcome, high-volume and high-pressure sales contacts. Stay away.

I think the intergrity of a company shows up in their customer service - well I had bought their webinar on instagram - I couldnt work out how to use it and found afterwards I hadnt turned up the volume so didnt hear the instructions so I complained and asked for my money back - no dispute - in under a day my full payemnt was refunded no query - although there was absolutely nothing wrong with the programme and I have not experienced any company who seem to answer emails quickier than cardell media

Do NOT ask for this free book....the adage that nothing in life is actually for free is very true. Not only is the book absolutely useless, you will be persued, no, hounded by sales people. By phone, by text, by email, and by post. Despite telling them on numerous occasions to stop contacting and remove my number, they keep on harrassing. The latest was yesterday evening (on a Sunday) via my mobile at 7 in the evening. This has been going on for months, ever since ordering that awful book ... oh how I regret it, i should have known better. I do have to say that at no time have I ever been contacted directly by Chris Cardell ... he obviously has a team to do that for him!
Do yourself a HUGE favour and stay very clear of these people.

I downloaded the free book which I found to be an easy read. The information is well laid out. I have received a few calls from agents who have been able to answer my questions. I feel like I am getting the right support and will be purchasing the full programme to help with my marketing and business plans.

Sound advice

I recently watched one of Chris's webinars and it was clear his knowledge on marketing, particularly all areas digital is up there with the best. I took away a huge list of dos both from this and the free book he gives out. It wasn't long after I implemented just five quick wins that sure enough my online engagement started to grow!
The free advice he gives out great so the paid content must be incredible, off I go to get my card details!

Should be called "How to turn off customers"

I signed up to receive the book 77 Ways to Get More Customers and wish I hadn't bothered. It was so basic it was laughable. How can anyone use so many words to say so little? Since signing up I've been inundated with emails and now they've started with text messages and phone calls. If they think that's the way to get customers, they really don't have a clue. It's a complete turnoff for me. Numbers and email now blocked. Do not waste your time and money.
Edited to add : number blocking didn't work - they simply called from another number. Pests!

Low level stuff, and time consuming

UPDATE: despite making my views very well known to the two previous SALES people, and being assured my details would be updated and removed I was contacted AGAIN by yet another SALES person.

I can only believe this is a scam through and through and should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.

Original Review:
Very, very VERY salesy - I signed up to something out of curiosity and have been contacted by multiple sales people trying to persuade me to sign up to something - but they won't tell me what....

Have scanned through the book. There is no new new anything in it that I could see. It is entry level marketing 101 and ignores a lot of the really important marketing stuff that businesses really need to understand.

And watching a video of Chris talking about - I think - why FB and IG works for B2B business - he doesn't half like the sound of his own voice. He takes 15 mins to say very little, but to just talk endlessly about irrelevant stuff. If he thinks business owners have this amount of time to waste watching him talk to camera without saying very much at all, then he really hasn't understood the life of business owners...

UPDATE: Following the reply I have to express surprise that they 'find no record' of any 'purchase' as that seems to try to deny the multiple salespeople that contacted me and then seemed upset that I asked them not to as I didn't appreciate the high-pressure sales tactics they seemed to be employing.

If Cardell Media we're really interested in my feedback they'd probably avoid replying publicly with an attempt to denounce the honest feedback of my experience. Anyway, that's enough time wasted on these people - if anyone reading needs help with digital I would recommend finding people that understand not just digital but also your business and drivers of success for that. It can't be done using formulaic cookie-cutter stuff - certainly not without some heavy-weight adaptations to ensure it works for your business or orgnaisation.

Excellent company

Excellent company. Chris shares he’s complete blueprint. This Internet and Social Media Mastery program is all you need to stop getting misinformation about how to become successful online. Having the hard copy of the book definitely helps. I’ve also joined the VIP club and have already made GREAT connections. This is one sign up I will use for life, unlike my gym subscription.
