In march 2024 we rent a car for 3 weeks. Cheap but also some problems to start the engine, radio won‘t work. We paid 100 € deposit till today (7 June) they didn‘t refund it!
I send some messages but they didn‘t answer!
Be careful when you book a car with WEB rate and payment in advance!
I booked a car 6 months in advance. The booking was based on WEB rate and payment in advance.
I canceled my booking after 6 weeks and until that time my card was not changed for payment and I was sure that all is find and I’m finish with this booking and cancellation!
Almost 2,5 months later I discovered that my card is charged for whole amount of the booking!
I contacted the rental company and they said that based on my chosen option, WEB rate and payment in advance, I will be charged for 35€!
I accepted it and I urged them to refund the rest to my account. They promised me that the refund will be in my account within few days!
Unfortunately this was not the case and I called several times and sent email without any luck.
Eventually I contact with my bank and the took over the case and they were managed to get refund in my account within 3 days.
So be careful when you book from this company especially with WEB rate and payment in advance.

I was a customer of carmalagahire. I believe it is the company's policy to never return your deposit, which I have been trying yo get back since April 2019. the review must have been written by a company representative because there is no evidence otherwise that they have ever returned a deposit without dedicated work by the customer to get it back. sometimes such as in my case, never at all.
If the customer was to factor in the entire deposit as well as the rental and insurnce, this would be the worlds most expensive and worst quality rental. The business should be shut down and I am prepared to launch a class action lawsuit against the company with all of the other respondents to this review site.
