This is my 4th vehicle purchase at the Tolleson location. I have always had excellent in-person service and courtesy. The automated functions need some refinement, i.e., emails that canceled my appoin... See more

Overall
The amount of time. It took eight days for the vehicle to be shipped, only an eight hour drive. Arrived with a dent that still hasn’t been timely dealt with. The dent was addressed by salesman’s and manger the day I picked it up. Still haven’t heard what the outcome will be. Lowball offer on trade in vehicle.
Carmax Team
Carmax Team,
I'm not sure who, of all the people I've talked to will read this....
But a "BIG THANKS"
to all for putting up with a grumpy old guy and making my purchase of the CX9 as painless as possible.
Everyone, including the people on the phones prior to the sale, were pleasant, professional and did everything they said they would do.
I was pleasantly surprised that Carmax stood by the internet trade-in offer I received prior to the date of my purchase. I fully expected a last minute "low ball" offer on my trade. That didn't happen.
Again, thanks a lot!

Good selection of SUVs
Good selection of SUVs. The staff was pretty much friendly. We finally settled on a 2023 Infiniti QX60 Luxe with low miles. Price was verified through multiple online sites as being between $3000 to $4000 over priced than what CarMax listed vehicle price. Please keep that in mind if shopping at CarMax. This is how they make there money. They will not negotiate car price or your interest rates if you use CarMax Financial. Even with an 850 credit score they would not budge on giving me the best interest rate. We decided to finance through our credit union which did offer the lowest rate for a used vehicle which was 1.5 % lower than Car Max Financial at 66 months . The vehicle is beautiful almost like new. It has been one week since we brought it home from CarMax.
We just had a thunderstorm roll in and windows got dirty. My wife was trying to use the wiper sprayer while using the wipers and no water came out. Long story short I just opened the hood and the wiper reservoir was bone dry. Not only that the radiator reservoir was also empty. I took pictures of this. Hope i can post them. Something small, but nonetheless we as customers pay big money for vehicles considered luxury cars.
If you don't mind paying more for a vehicle and more for interest then CarMax is ok. If you want to negotiate the vehicle price and financing better to go look at dealer.
Thank you, Carmax and Matthew Meller!
We walked in and were greeted by Matthew Meller who made himself available, even though he was helping several customers. Without an appointment, he arranged for a test drive and patiently answered all our questions. Once we settled on a vehicle, he allowed us time to make a decision and made an appointment for the next day to finalize the purchase if that was our choice. He was able to offer a lower financing rate than our bank, walked us through protection plan options and we were in and out of there in less than an hour. Matthew was courteous, friendly, professional and helpful.
This is the second car I have bought…
This is the second car I have bought from my local CarMax so I was well prepared I had my trade-in offer and what vehicle I was interested in one of two when I walk through the door within two and a half hours I had to keys to my new 2024 Subaru Onyx Outback XT no complaints I was well prepared for everything
It was a quick and easy transaction
It was a quick and easy transaction. I traded in a car and bought another. The original, higher, offer on the trade was honored. All the paperwork was in order.
Carmax does what it says it will do.
The front desk manager was very kind…
The front desk manager was very kind and quick to get me assistance.
The associate she connected me with was patient and explained the whole process at least 3 times to myself, my wife, and mother.
No pushy sales tactics but was sure to offer me the financing and helped me calulate the best monthly rate.
No Pressure Decision
I never felt pressured to buy the car I test drove, and I like that the offer they made on a trade-in for my current vehicle is good for 5 days. CarMax gave me the time to carefully consider my decision.
I visited the CarMax Boynton Beach…
I visited the CarMax Boynton Beach location on June 4, 2026, to have my vehicle appraised. The entire appraisal process took less than 10 minutes, and the offer I received was surprisingly low. It felt like they barely evaluated the vehicle before making their offer.
To compare, I went directly across the street to CarDrop, where they thoroughly reviewed my car and offered me double what CarMax had offered. Not only was the offer significantly higher, but CarDrop also wrote me a check on the spot.
I understand that different companies may value vehicles differently, but the huge difference between the two offers makes me question how CarMax arrived at their appraisal. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes before accepting a CarMax offer.
I’m disappointed with the financing…
I’m disappointed with the financing transparency. The website prominently advertises rates like 5.49% APR and says “over 95% get pre-qualified,” creating the impression that customers will receive competitive financing offers. However, after completing the process, the actual APR offered was around 15–16%, which is dramatically higher and far above what most banks currently offer.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I have a strong credit history and a solid annual income, so by most financial standards my rate should have been significantly lower. The large gap between the advertised financing and the actual offer feels misleading and unrealistic for many customers.
Greater transparency about the APR ranges people actually receive would make the experience feel much more honest and trustworthy.
I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience at the Tucson CarMax location. Before visiting, I received an online financing offer for a used Tesla with a $2,000 down payment and around 27% APR. Based on that offer, I went to the dealership expecting a professional process. However, once I arrived, everything completely changed.I was told that because I work as a delivery driver, their financing companies would not approve me and that they would absolutely not sell me the vehicle, no matter what. I even asked if adding a co-owner with strong credit and making a larger down payment would help, but I was told it would make no difference and that they would never approve it.What made the situation worse was the attitude of the staff and especially the manager. Despite my flawless payment history and proof of consistent payments, I felt dismissed, judged, and not treated with basic respect. The manager barely acknowledged us and made us feel like we were not even worth speaking to properly. If the online pre-qualification does not reflect reality, customers should not be encouraged to come in and waste their time. The lack of professionalism and poor customer treatment were extremely disappointing.
I’m giving CarMax 1 out of 5 stars…
I’m giving CarMax 1 out of 5 stars based on my real experience buying 2 vehicles from them within a 17-month period.
On paper, the “no haggle” model sounds great. In reality, buyers still need to be extremely careful and do independent inspections and research.
Here were the biggest issues I experienced:
Inaccurate or incomplete vehicle history reportsBoth vehicles I purchased were listed by CarMax as having no accidents. Later, when attempting to resell one of the vehicles, I learned there had been a prior minor accident reported.Additionally, both vehicles showed signs of repaint work with mismatched paint coloring that was not disclosed upfront.
Incorrect trim advertisementOne vehicle was advertised as a higher trim level, but after checking the VIN, it turned out to be a lower trim model than advertised.
RepairPal warranty experience was disappointingI was encouraged to purchase the RepairPal warranty package, but when I actually needed repairs, it was difficult to find participating repair shops with availability. I ultimately ended up being referred to the dealership anyway.
Trade-in/resale offers felt extremely lowWhen I attempted to trade in or resell my vehicle back to CarMax, the offer was thousands lower than what comparable vehicles of the same year and similar configuration were being listed for on their own lot.
Poor communication regarding vehicle holdsI specifically communicated that I intended to purchase a vehicle and requested it be held for 2 additional days due to a personal emergency. Despite that conversation, the vehicle was shipped to another location. In hindsight, it may have been a blessing in disguise.
Overall, my experience with CarMax did not match the transparency and convenience they advertise. I personally will not purchase from CarMax again.
My advice to the public: regardless of where you buy, always verify the VIN, obtain independent inspections, review the paint/body condition carefully, and compare trade-in values elsewhere before making a decision.
Car max the rip off!
How is it stress free when they offer 3k and there cheapest one on there site is 14k.
I had an extremely frustrating and…
I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with CarMax. What should have been a simple and straightforward transaction turned into a drawn-out and disorganized process.
After they took possession of my vehicle and presented an offer, I later found out that the paperwork was not actually completed on their end. This left me in a position where I did not have clarity on the final numbers, and I was forced to bring the vehicle back and wait even longer for them to sort out something that should have been handled correctly the first time.
Communication was poor throughout the process. I had to follow up multiple times just to get basic updates, and there seemed to be a lack of coordination between their team members. For a company that markets itself as hassle-free and efficient, this experience was the exact opposite.
This situation created unnecessary stress and inconvenience, especially when timing and financial details matter. I expected a much higher level of professionalism and organization.
Overall, I would not recommend CarMax based on this experience. Buyers should be prepared for potential delays, lack of communication, and incomplete processing.
These are used car salesmen
These are used car salesmen. All the stereotypes. They make an initial offer close to Blue Book wholesale, then cut it in half with a vague, unsubstantiated "explanation" before the final offer. Customers can only deal with employees who have no discretion or ability to explain.
Significantly downgraded my offer
They gave me an on line offer of 10,400 but ended up only offering me 9,000. Because they said I had water spots and the panels needed to be painted. The spots were from a sprinkler well water and they could have been buffed out on s good detail job but even if it was true, $1400 to paint 3 panels! Also, I told them I just replaced the tires, battery, water pump and timing belt but they said it was just maintenance when Carvana snd Car Guru made the price go up. I declined then came back to take the offer because we were in a rush but the experience was not good.
I wanted to sell my car and they gave…
I wanted to sell my car and they gave me a fair offer with amazing customer service
If you are looking for a Great Used car…
If you are looking for a Great Used car make sure you go to CarMax to check out their cars. I shopped for weeks looking for a specific car, even found multiple cars from local dealers only to experience very poor sales people trying to trick me into losing too much money for my trade in vehicle. I was not familiar with CarMax and stumbled across their website by accident- HUGH WIN FOR ME! So so tired of dealing with sales people from other dealerships and will tell you anything to get you into their dealership and once there nothing they told you prior was true! CarMax does not have SALESPEOPLE trying to trick you into buying their car- the price they publish is the price you expect to pay - most often less than other dealers similar cars. And their cars are meticulously inspected and anything that needs repaired gets repaired prior to delivery to you. If you have a car to trade just go online, fill out your car information and get an immediate trade in value. Then stop by their office to let them validate their offer. Next steps are so easy it was amazing. A sales associate will take it from their- you hand over your car and they deliver your new car with them doing ALL THE PAPERWORK! I spent less than an hour with the entire process. I found the exact vehicle I was looking for- SO HAPPY WITH MY NEW CAR AND PURCHASING EXPERIENCE WITH CARMAX! I have owned my vehicle over a year now, absolutely love it more now than I did when I first purchased it. Definitely will buy my next vehicle IF/WHEN I’m ready for my next purchase.
We’ve done business with Carmax many…
We’ve done business with Carmax many times over the last 20 years and purchased around 8 cars from them and sold them several as well. We should have done better research about the current state of the company before choosing to do business with them again. After our recent experience selling them a car last week we will never ever return to them as a customer. Every car we sold them in the past we have been paid out exactly what the online offer was so we had a background of trust. This time the offer was $5000 less based on ambiguous claims of hail damage and transmission issues. Yet no tangible evidence could be provided for these claims. We had also just had a 75K service done on the car end of July with a full diagnostic work up with zero evidence of transmission issues and no warning lights. We even provided the paperwork on this. The crazy thing is as I researched and read reviews I found several people who went through the same thing with claims of transmission issues and hail damage that could not be shown physically when customers asked for it to be pointed out. This seems like a calculated scam technique that comes from the top of Carmax. This company no longer acts with integrity, lies to customers, gaslights them and uses bait and switch tactics. Eventually this company will self destruct if they continue to do business this way.
Never buy a car from CarMax again
they gave me the run around. First they approved via prequalified. Second they came me an appraisal on my vehicle before seeing it. Then they wanted to give me 3000 less than what was offer. mind you I purchased vehicle from them. Vehicle was in good condition just a few cosmetics /where paint shipped on front bumper. i have so much to say.im overwhelm and disgusted with Carmax. Never ever will i buy/sell or go near a CarMax
