Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 33 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers experience severe frustration due to massive delivery delays, ongoing tracking issues, and a complete lack of proactive communication from the team regarding pending purchases. Furthermore, people frequently complain that customer support is unhelpful, and securing financial refunds for unfulfilled or incorrect items proves exceptionally difficult. Some reviewers were happy with the unique prints, lovely fabric thickness, and comfortable clothing options available in spite of fulfillment drawbacks. Other customers also mentioned that the dresses are remarkably soft, visually appealing, and wonderful to wear when they finally arrive.

Honest review

I've purchased quite a few dresses from Carolina Dress Room and Miss Society and I love the clothes! The range of sizes and variety of styles and designs are fantastic. I tend to only order tea dresses or swing dresses as that's the style I prefer.

Unfortunately their customer service does let them down. Communication through social media, including direct Facebook DMs, is very inconsistent. Sometimes they can be great and helpful and get back to you immediately, and then other times you just won’t get a response at all.

I also feel slightly disappointed with some of the products that are put up for sale on the websites as certain designs are listed in the Facebook group but they either never get listed on either site or they take a few days to be listed when it is indicated in the Facebook group that they will be uploaded that day and I have missed out on a few offers like buy one get one free as I've been waiting for certain dresses to be added to use the offer and only pay one lot of postage but there are instances where I've had to pay two lots of postage to ensure I don't miss out on an offer or dresses I like in my size

An actual honest review

Please don't trust the reviews- the average review score was much lower a few days ago but the promise/bribary of a voucher has caused an influx of positive reviews.

The dresses are lovely, when they arrive. It's hit or miss if your dress will arrive and if it doesn't, nobody replies to your emails/facebook comments and you don't know what is happening with your money.

Great items but customer service needs addressing

I own loads of CDR items and have recommended the company to several people who have come up and asked me where I have purchased my dresses from. Prints are exceptional and the non iron fabric is soft and stretchy although some styles run much bigger than advertised especially on the waist which can be a bit annoying. Facebook page is a great support with friendly people sharing great advice on fitting, styles etc although admin posts can be sometimes be confusing and comments not replied to hence leaving people very frustrated.
Customer service is the key area that lets the company down. Most recent event ( there has been others) I am still waiting a refund for a faulty item that I was told be sorted Monday. If you cannot fulfil something ie delay, out of stock etc let us know, keep your customers informed, we shouldn't have to chase!
You have great products here with a loyal fan base but customer service needs to looked at in a big way or you will lose regular buyers.I know this fact is highlighted in numerous reviews so hoping it will be addressed.

Honest reveiw - dont waste your time or your money

I want to post my honest experience with CDR after being a long term loyal customer and then experiencing their absolutely shocking customer service and the constant lies they see fit to tell people.
I also feel it's important that people know that the reason this brand went from a 2 star rating to all of a sudden having floods of positive reveiws is because the owner of the brand offered to put people into a weekly prize draw to win £50 for leaving a positive review, and having the nerve to say that people were leaving fake reveiws to make them look bad..... to be honest its pitiful that to get her rating up shes offering money when what they should be doing is providing good customer service and actually fulfilling their orders! If you want a better rating, then do better.
So this is a TRUE reflection of my experience this year with CDR.
I ordered a fraggle rock tea in an order of 3 dresses at the beginning of Feb 24, i waited patiently for months for the dresses to come in and be sent out . 2 of the dresses I ordered turned up at the beginning of April time but the fraggle rock one wasn't in there.
I messaged to ask on the 7th April if they hadnt come in yet and had no reply, i messaged again on the 9th and 10th. Then on the 11th April i got a reply apologising and asking for the order number. Then asking what was missing and if there was a delivery note which there wasnt. I supplied the order number that day and had no reply. Then on the 14th April i messaged again and asked for an update and was told more of that print were coming in next week. I waited 2 weeks and messaged again asking what was going on and was told they were looking into it. Then on the 28th April i had a refund show up in the shop app with no communication from CDR at all, i messaged to ask what was going on to be told that they passed on my message on and were not sure what had happened with the fraggle rock dress. Then asked if it was a Rizzo dress. I replied again saying it was a tea dress and that personal friends of mine had received theirs ages ago and shared that i was at the point of feeling really unhappy. Again i was asked what size it was and was told that they would check monday.
Monday came and i had a message saying that there was none in their warehouse but they would get one made up for me.
So I waited again until the 28th May and messaged asking for an update to be told they would look into it and i had no reply, then on the 1st June i messaged again asking if anything had been checked and had a reply on the 4th June saying sorry, they were looking into it for me, did i get a refund, and Was it a size 1 tea dress?
So i replied to them with a full timeline of what had happened, that I had been left waiting again for this, messaging and not getting replies and being fobbed off. A lot of the time, the only way i managed to get a reply was by commenting on their public posts asking for one. Im really upset, i really wanted that print, it was one of my favourites when i was little. Ive been a loyal CDR customer for ages and passed on the details for their brand to absolutely countless people.
I haven't shopped with them since, there are so many wonderful brands that sell beautiful clothes at much better prices than CDR and with far better customer service. I would not bother wasting your time with this brand. Save your money, your time and your breath!

Long review from repeat customer

Overall my experience has been very good and I've been buying from CDR for around a year. CDR make dresses, leggings, jumpsuits, joggers and more with POCKETS in really fun and sometimes unusual prints across different themes and interests - sci fi, wildlife, nature, Disney, horror, music, retro / current movies and TV shows - in sizes from 6 to 32.

As a plus size woman I've been delighted by the range of designs and styles and it's been great fun to find Gremlins, Doctor Who, Toy Story, ET and more on clothes that fit and flatter. All their clothes are made from a similar material (92% Polyester, 8% Spandex) which feels warm and comfortable against the skin. Peach-like. They are ideal for people with SEN or other disabilities as there are no zips or buttons to struggle doing up. CDR also have kids dresses and limited menswear.

Issues and areas for improvement : I've ordered and paid for two dresses (separately) that weren't delivered. When I enquired I was told out of stock and I would be refunded - which I was - but they shouldn't show clothes as available on their website if they are not in stock to purchase.

The website for CDR and its discount site called Miss Society (MS) could both benefit from being updated or improved. Photos of the clothes are not modelled on real people, sometimes images have been blurry. There is no info on the websites about sizing, materials or measurements of the clothes. This is hidden away in the Facebook group for CDR but it should be on the main website.

I have experienced a long wait for a dress through 'pre order' which is paying for clothes before they exist and waiting for the manufacturer to make and send from China. This has led to frustration with clothes being delayed beyond expected dates.

I decided to buy mainly from Miss Society as all clothes are in stock and at cheaper prices. Sometimes the same dress and size is on both websites (always cheaper on MS) that seems unfair to anyone paying more for the same thing on CDR!

I don't know why they don't have one website only with a SALE section.

Regarding the prints and designs I have sometimes seen similar or the same designs being sold elsewhere. I don't know who holds the rights or who is designing them. I looked up a print using Google lens that suggested it had been created by AI! I would hope that a human being is being paid fairly to design the prints used by CDR on their clothes.

To get discount codes and offers you need to be a member of the CDR Facebook group which has a lot of other benefits. The size guides for all clothes are there, you get previews of the latest prints before they are released, you can give feedback and make requests about what you would like in the future. You can share your own photos wearing the clothes and see them on other customers. You can also make requests for clothes that have sold out that you are In Search Of to buy and you can sell to other CDR fans.

The group is great in many ways but heavily moderated so much so that comments are sometimes deleted, closed on posts and people leaving complaints may have left the group or been removed. I've been suspended twice for minor infringements. We're not allowed to mention any other retailers including items that CDR don't sell themselves. It feels like too much censorship. I only found out about CDR because it was shared in another facebook group. If that group had the same strict rules I may never have known. Let people recommend through word of mouth and less censorship please.

The recent live sales on Miss Society have been fun and Natalie who runs them works very hard and is great on camera, taking time to display the clothes and explain what sizes are available. She also does special 'live prices'. Sometimes MS run 'lucky dips' which have been amazing bargains and a fun surprise. Clothes I've bought from the live sales have been dispatched the next day.

We are told to send any queries or complaints to the CDR Facebook page using messenger but for every order you receive a Shopify email which says at the bottom "If you have any questions, reply to this email or contact us at (...email address)."
If CDR do not want customers to email they need to update or remove this message. No wonder customers are upset or frustrated not getting replies to emails.

While prints change frequently sometimes so do the dresses and I would like the cut to remain fixed. Currently all Tea and Peggy dresses are short sleeves when you used to be able to buy 3/4 length sleeve. There are no other dresses with longer sleeves. Please change this.

Please make postage free above a certain spend.

My rating for Carolina Dress Room is 3.5 due to higher prices, delays and stock issues. 4.5 for Miss Society - cheaper, quick delivery, great service. Same wonderful clothes. Overall 4 out of 5.

Thanks to staff for your creativity and hard work.

Disorganised chaos!

I have ordered in the past but would never order again. The business is mainly run via the Facebook group which I find to be unprofessional. They do not answer customer emails and messages. If you want to find anything out you have to go on the Facebook group - it’s total disorganised chaos. Despite being told countless times by customers this system is not working they do not change anything. They have been saying for 6 months they will improve customer service. It has never happened!

They are always out of stock of items and do a pre order system. The problem is the pre order system does not work. Items do not turn up on time and stock is consistently weeks or months late. This leaves unhappy customers and people not knowing where their orders are because they do not answer emails. Despite there being disastrous issues with pre orders many times and saying they will “stop” they still continue to do them!!!

These dresses are not cheap for what they are and people often order hundreds of pounds worth at once. The owner does not seem to be sympathetic to this. I have seen posts on the Facebook group moaning about the amount of customers complaining. Of course they are complaining you took hundreds of pounds off them and they don’t have their items on time and you don't reply to their messages!

The website is also a disorganised mess. Looks very unprofessional and you can’t find anything. No sizing information you have to hunt for it on the Facebook group (again)! Not easy to find.

I am shocked the business is still operating they are heading for disaster if they don’t change something soon!

Beautiful dresses but bad customer service

First things first, I love the clothes they are amazingly unique, comfortable and I've never had a quality issue. But there are things that let the company down and really put me off ordering so I only purchase on Vinted, ebay or second hand now as it really is a game of chance whether you receive the item and if you don't, whether you will ever get your money returned is not guaranteed. The 3 times I've ordered from the website, there has been an issue every time. Granted I've eventually got it sorted after a lot of pestering on my part.

Seeing the post this morning from the owner asking customers to leave reviews in exchange for money turned my 4 stars into 3 unfortunately.

But I will still always purchase the dresses elsewhere because they really are beautiful. If customer service ever gets improved then I may consider re ordering.

Putting on the Rizzo......

I've never had so many dresses. I've also gound my style. Good quality, wear, wash, hang repeat. They are comfortable and flattering for the larger figure plus they have pockets. Did I mention they are reasonably priced.

CDR clothing is the best.

Fantastic clothing, varied range of types of clothes, patterns/themes etc. Only thing I would say is more mens clothes needed for the hubby!
Material is even good for those on the autistic spectrum with sensitive clothing issues.

Lovely Clothing

The clothes from CDR are fantastic, the hidden pockets are great as nearly all dresses & leggings don’t come with pockets. The designs are fun & quirky and the owner takes on feed back regarding styles and designs really well. Any issues have been resolved by the team, sometimes slowly but this is a small company and doesn’t have the facilities to employ 100’s of customer service agents.

I genuinely love the clothes but…

I genuinely love the clothes. Really good quality. Lovely fit and design. Prices are reasonable. Only issue is the customer service side. Emails are not answered. To get a response it has to be through Facebook. I often have to chase things up several times before my issues have been resolved. It has stopped me ordering.

Quality clothes

I've bought a few items from Carolina Dress Room and they're all fantastic only issue I had was a delay to a pre- order item which was not a fault of CDR but an issue with the manufacturers, when I've needed to contact customer services I've always done so by sending a message on the CDR official Facebook page and I have always received a reply within a couple of hours, I would definitely recommend CDR as their clothes are top quality, really comfortable to wear and true to size

Worst customer services you’ll ever encounter counter

I have over the years bought a number of items and despite seeing negative reviews had no issues the first couple of times. Then it started- wrong items sent/damaged items/ refunds not being issued. I even had to send a damaged item back at my own expense and was completely ignored when wanting to return a wrong item that had been sent. The business is utter chaos and you’re directed to contact them on messenger. Any negative comments are deleted so a toxicly positive environment is created, and when I was repeatedly chasing up a refund and being ignored I went to chase again but found I had been blocked from the Facebook pages. Not very professional at all. I ended up having to go via my credit card company and get a chargeback. After these last few experiences I am only going to buy preloved.

The shocking customer service isn’t new and has been happening for years unless you’re one of the lucky few.

If anyone is wondering why they’ve suddenly had a flurry of positive reviews recently there’s apparently an incentive on the Facebook group (that I’m blocked from simply for asking for a refund) for anyone that leaves a review as they wanted to improve the score on here. Pretty sure that’s not ok.

Funky leggings and dresses

Love the variety of styles and patterns. Something for everyone. Really comfy leggings and dresses. Do good offers at times. Had the odd issue and had to keep messaging but got there eventually. Most of the time things go smoothly.

I found CDR by pure chance

I found CDR by pure chance, I absolutely love the products. I have a full wardrobe and only don't have 2 styles as I don't like the skirts or rompers. My kids also have cdr and I'm a advocate for them being SEN friendly clothing (so much so I should get commission) the prints are vibrant and clothing is cool and non restrictive. Iv not worn jeans or cheap black leggings since finding cdr. They make me feel comfortable and confident home and work. Affordable clothing as its quality that lasts. Iv even been swimming in the sea in cdr and the colour stays the same. I wish they did more clothing for boys like joggers but my son wears the leggings lol my husband even wears the joggers and pants. He loves them! We all have the hooded blankets and jackets that are like oodies, infact I have 3 (no joke) I'm sure when we move house I will need an entire van for my stash haha the customer service is great, I had an issue with delivery once.. one time.. when Royal Mail messed up. CDR were kind, polite and reassuring. I have returned items (skirts) they are not flattering on me. Was easy to so and no complications with a refund (to buy more cdr) iv also bought from Miss Society page equally same customer service is great. I won't stop buying and wearing. When my kids grow out of it we sell/gift on as the clothing keeps its colour, shape and quality. Iv also got cdr bags and belts and under skirts ... and love it all. Now please make some more starwars and rainbow bright please and thank you

Unique

I have bought several items from CDR and Miss Society over a number of years. The prints are unique and some of the dress styles are fab. However I have had issues with some orders. One in particular (that I attempted to sort for my mam) was never resolved and I eventually gave up. I've also had orders get lost but both times this occured it was dealt with. Leggings, flares etc are also not designed for us little legged people. Lately most of the new designs are also in the 'Rizzo' or 'Tea Dress' style, as gorgeous as they are they just don't suit everyone. That said I always happily recommend CDR when people ask me where I buy my dresses.

Soft, comfortable clothing

I buy from here a lot and have done for years. The clothing is soft and wears and washes well which is a godsend for me. I suffered an injury two years ago which has left me with a disability and as such I can no longer wear tight fitting or rough feeling clothing. Most of my stuff is now CDR and I rarely pay full price as I do love a sale item!
