AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID AT ALL COSTS – ABSOLUTE SCAM OPERATION!

★☆☆☆☆ AVOID AT ALL COSTS – ABSOLUTE SCAM OPERATION!

Do not make the mistake of renting from Carwiz! This company operates like a predatory bait-and-switch scam, and my recent experience with them was a total nightmare.

I reserved and paid for a midsize car through Expedia, but upon arrival, they handed me the keys to a tiny subcompact vehicle. When I called out the downgrade, I was met with zero resolution—just complete indifference.

To make matters worse, I had already purchased full collision insurance directly through Expedia at the time of booking. Carwiz flat-out refused to accept it, claiming third-party protection wasn't valid with them. They effectively held my reservation hostage and forced me to purchase their expensive in-house insurance policy on the spot just to drive off the lot.

This is a dishonest shakedown designed to prey on travelers who have no other choice in the moment. Do yourself a favor and look at the rest of their reviews online—my experience is far from an isolated incident; it’s clearly their standard business model.

Save yourself the stress, hidden fees, and frustration: avoid Carwiz at all costs!

Carwiz charged me for damage I did not cause

I rented a car from Carwiz in Krakow. Booked through Carjet and luckily bought deductible insurance upon booking. The deductible amount was quite big, 1200 euros, which Carwiz booked on my credit card upon renting. Upon arrival everything went rather smoothly. The rental is a bit away from the airport but they have a free shuttle. At handover, I was offered their own insurance to reduce the deductible to 1PLN, which I refused since I already had insurance. Then I was given paperwork documenting existing damages to the car. I also took photos of each side of the car. We used the car for 5 days and returned it in the exact same condition. I took pictures of the car at drop off but because I had to catch a flight, didn’t stay for the inspection. A few hours later I received an email that I had damaged the car and they will be charging me 235 euros. I am certain these small damages were there before, one is visible from the photos I took before pick up and the second one (chip on the underside of door handle) while not visible from my photos was documented on their pre-rental handover paperwork. I replied disputing their claim and never got a response. They just charged my credit card for the supposed damage amount. I filed a claim with my insurance and got my money back, but I definitely do not recommend using this car hire company.

They are playing an unfair game with you

We rented a car from Carwiz at Catania Airport. At the desk, our Dutch credit card was rejected for the €700 security deposit because it displayed our initials instead of our full first name. This is standard for Dutch credit cards and cannot be changed.

As a result, we were told we could not collect the car unless we purchased Carwiz's insurance. We had already paid for a separate protection package through our booking platform, specifically to avoid buying additional insurance, but we had no realistic choice if we wanted the car we had already paid for.

What made the situation even more frustrating was that we were initially quoted €176 for the insurance. After we refused and waited for around 30 minutes, a cheaper option of €136 suddenly became available. This raised serious questions about the pricing and left us feeling pressured into making a purchase.

The biggest contradiction was that the same credit card that was supposedly unacceptable for the security deposit was perfectly acceptable to pay for the insurance.

**"I paid for protection but still had to buy insurance because of a requirement I couldn't possibly meet."** That perfectly summarizes our experience.

The entire process cost us an extra €136, more than an hour of our holiday, and caused unnecessary stress at the start of our trip. I would never book again at Carwiz and I recommend no one to book here. They are playing an unfair game with you.

I had the worst experience renting a…

I had the worst experience renting a car from this company. First, they’re not even located at the airport, which was very inconvenient. I reserved and paid for a midsize SUV, but when I arrived, they gave me a small 4-passenger Chevy instead.

When I asked for the vehicle I had actually booked, the employee told me I could get a midsize SUV only if I paid an extra $50 per day in cash. It felt like he was trying to pocket the money rather than follow the reservation.

On top of that, they added another $50 in extra charges for random reasons without a clear explanation.

Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend renting from this company and will never book with them again.

Avoid this company at all costs.

Avoid this company at all costs.

I had a very concerning experience. The vehicle had pre-existing scratches and dents hidden in areas that were difficult to capture on video from a normal standing angle. When I returned the car, they asked to see my video and then immediately pointed out the exact damage that wasn’t clearly visible in my footage.

It felt like the damage had been deliberately positioned to be difficult for customers to document, while they already knew exactly where to find it.

Be extremely careful, document the vehicle from every possible angle, and consider using another rental company.

This company works like a scammers

This company works like a scammers, they rent you a car, but when you return it ,they telling that you need to pay extra fees for ex. for washing a car even if the car is not dirty, just usual dust from the road or some bugs on the front window. Usually they ask 10eur, and do not give any check for this extra amount.

I wouldn’t even give them a 1 star

I wouldn’t even give them a 1 star. I’ve rented cars with many companies and never had issues before but this one will scam you!! Please do not rent a car with them. They told me I had scratched the alloys and gave me a price for fixing which I was informed was £330 per alloy!! I was in a rush for the airport so signed without reading (my error due to my panic of missing my flight) . They sent me the invoice and have added on extra charges!! I’ve emailed multiple times over the past 3 weeks and I haven’t had one response to answer my questions where I am simply querying the additional charges. Absolute scam and I would tell anybody not to ever rent with them. I also don’t even believe I made the scratches as when I had time to look at my before photos the scratches were already there :(

Awful awful awful

If I could give a zero I would! Without doubt the worst rental company going!

I booked a 6 day rental from Riga Airport (Latvia). I was travelling with my wife and two children so required car seats! The guy at the counter didn’t seem to know anything about Latvian laws around car seats which is not helpful! The options for car seats were limited, a booster, a toddler type seat and a little baby seat, they appear to missing the one in the middle!
Next the state of the car seats, clearly they don’t ever clean them or replace them that often! The baby seat was covered in old dried food and the toddler seat didn’t really look fit for purpose was wobbly in places!

They then have the cheek to ask for the car to be clean to clean, either you clean it yourself before drop off or get charged a €20 fee! Which is ridiculous! Who the hell wants to clean a car when they are on holiday!

So if your not already tired enough from travelling and entertaining children on a plane, while your at the desk with your luggage, a buggy and the family they then hand over the car seats and expect you to walk 10 minutes to collect the car! And make you feel bad for asking for the shuttle to come and get you! This should be offered to everyone regardless!

All I would say is when you get to the car make sure you take plenty of photos of the inside and out! When I collected the car it was chucking it down with rain, so all I wanted to do was get everyone and everything loaded up to get out of the rain! Which was a big mistake! I’m now being charged another €30 for a deep clean of one of the seats! As I’m accused of putting a food stain on it! Which would have been under a car seat the whole trip! Plus the food could just be wiped off with a damp cloth! I replied to their email but surprise surprise no reply! Once they have your credit card details they can pretty much do what they like!

The standard of car was poor! A 2023 Toyota Yaris Cross that has been driven in to the ground! Service on the car was overdue by a couple of months with over 40000 KM since its last one!

If you are looking for a rental company avoid this one like the plague, the price is tempting but pay more and go with a better company!

Car wiz and Top rent! You have lost yourself a customer for life and I hope others reading this also never given them any money!

Rented a car from Ljubljana Airport - The member of staff was super helpful

We rented a car from Ljubljana Airport. My credit card wasn't working but the guy at Carwiz, I believe his name was Rok, helped us and even let me use his phone to call the credit card company and get everything sorted out. We even got a car upgrade as the one we originally booked was not available (we arrived late). Was a very smooth process to drop off the car.

Formal Complaint Regarding Unsafe Rental Vehicle and Unacceptable
Business Practices

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with my recent experience with your rental company.

When I made my reservation, I was never informed that a security deposit would be required at the time of pickup. This was only disclosed after I arrived, creating an unexpected financial obligation that should have been clearly communicated before the reservation was confirmed through a third party.

After inspecting the vehicle that was assigned to me, I discovered that it had extensive pre-existing damage. The condition of the vehicle raised serious concerns about its safety and whether it should have been rented to any
customer. I was not comfortable accepting responsibility for a vehicle in such poor condition, regardless of any documentation of existing damage.

Customers should not have to travel let alone out of state travel to your location only to learn about undisclosed deposit requirements and then be presented with a vehicle that appears unfit for rental. Requesting your insurance declaration page, policy amount of at least 300K, and additional fees never disclosed.

I hope you will review your policies regarding disclosure of rental requirements, vehicle inspections, and customer service so that future customers do not have to experience the same frustration and inconvenience.

Absolute nightmare—despicable service

Absolute nightmare—despicable service, unsafe, and a complete rip-off!Avoid Carwiz in Isla Verde at all costs! They charge an obligatory $89.00 roadside assistance fee, but it is a total scam. We got a flat tire on Highway 2 with my two young grandchildren (ages 9 and 14), only to find out the car had no spare tire. When we tried calling their emergency line, nobody answered. We spent 40 minutes stranded on a dangerous highway with frightened, scared children before anyone finally responded. To make matters worse, they told us they would only tow the vehicle and left us completely stranded on the side of the highway to find our own transportation back. When we finally made it to the office, the customer service was atrocious. The manager, Derrick, is incredibly arrogant, cocky, and has zero empathy. He flat-out refused to reimburse us for the flat tire service. The desk agent, Maribel, was deeply rude, unhelpful, and acted like she couldn't be bothered to do her job. She desperately needs a new profession. They pocket your money, provide unsafe vehicles, and abandon families with children on the side of the road. Absolutely despicable business.

FALSELY CHARGED RE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE…

At 2200 hours on 16th July Staff were not present on my arrival at the kiosk with Bratislava Airport I had to phone the Carwiz employee WHO ADMITTRD HE WAS AT HOME to uplift the vehicle.

I returned the vehicle undamaged, parked said vehicle within the carwiz parking Bays. I thereafter visually recorded all bodywork and alloy wheels which were all undamaged. Then as was out if operating hours. I returned the keys to the letter box to the kiosk within the Bratislava terminal AS INSTRUCTED TO DO by their employee.

I thereafter boarded my flight to the UK.

The next morning I was charged nearly 200 euros for damage to an alloy wheel.

The images provided by Carwiz clearly showed the vehicle had been moved and taen for the cleaning as the wheels had cleaned. You can clearly see the car has been moved by it's position in the car park

However when I provided the digital video evidence the car had been returned undamaged they denied they'd moved the vehicle prior to taking images of the alleged damage I'd caused.

I then returned to Bratislava Airport on 24th to speak with staff during operationg hours as I'd informed them.

The kiosk was closed and no carwiz staff could be found.

I was then informed by other rental company employees within the terminal that this is tactic used by Carwiz with foreign tourists. Hoping they won't return to complain

Absolutely horrible!

Absolutely horrible!! We were at the Fort Lauderdale location. First off, it’s a pain to find the area to wait for the shuttle. I had to call multiple times and it was well over 30 mins before one showed up. The driver was nice, and that is the only positive thing I have to say. Once we arrived at the satellite location, we immediately noticed what a dump it was. There were 2 women in front of us that were obviously having issues, but I was hopeful as they were using a “different” company. I suspect they are all the same just using a different guise. Long story short, you check in virtually at an inclosed kiosk with a person on the screen. I had my insurance card, but was told that they needed the ENTIRE policy in order for me to use it. They “best deal” they could offer me was to add $300 on top of what I’d already paid and use their insurance. I walked away on principle. It was worth it to lose my initial payment, Uber back to the airport, and go with a legit(ty hertz!)company!! Don’t use CarWiz!!!!

Awful Experience

Avoid! We arrived at 4am to be taken to the office. The deposit of around €300 suddenly changed to €2300, matching what other reviewers have stated. We refused to pay this unexpected spike and argued our case for quite a while, but they didn't care. They left us stranded in the middle of nowhere at 4am. Fortunately, we ordered an Uber—for which I still have the time-stamped receipt and location proof—and went with a more reputable company. I also have our original booking confirmation showing the promised €300 rate. They tried to delete my reviews, so I have now added more.

Awful service. Do not use!

We booked a car through @Easyjet using carwhizz. Thinking going through easyjet they would be good.
They was awful. We was held up in naples passport control for 2 hours, couldn't get through to them on the phone.
When we finally arrived they had released our car to someone else and we had to pay again, infact more to hire another car. Do not use!!!!!!!!!!
