Unprofessional Front Desk, Sarcastic Attitude, and No Response to Complaint

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Chelsea Cloisters. My girlfriend and I arrived before the official check-in time, and at 3:01pm I politely asked the front desk, “What happened to my room?” as our room was still not ready.

Instead of a simple explanation or apology, the front desk manager immediately became defensive, accused me of having a “negative attitude,” and began to lecture me. He even asked, “What’s your problem?”—all because I inquired about the delayed room. My girlfriend had already gone upstairs with the key, and the manager, with clear sarcasm, told me that now I would have to wait even longer before returning to the room.

As a non-native English speaker, I did my best to communicate respectfully, but I felt I was treated less courteously than other guests. When I expressed concerns about unequal treatment and discrimination, the manager offered no apology or explanation, but instead called the Security Manager. Although the Security Manager was polite, the main issue was never addressed, and I received no explanation for the delay or the inappropriate behavior at the front desk.

Three days before checking out, I submitted a detailed written complaint to hotel management. Now, a week after checking out, I have still not received any reply or acknowledgment from the hotel. This lack of follow-up and accountability only reinforces my negative impression of the service at Chelsea Cloisters.

If you value professionalism, respect, and customer care, I would strongly recommend booking elsewhere.

Pleasant stay

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely room, great location and reception staff were so helpful. We were on the 3rd floor. Initial walk to room was so very long but we found a quicker route by the stairs. I wouldn't want to be any higher as there was only one small lift which after waiting for what seemed ages ( it started at the 8th floor) when it got to 3 it was full. Very small capacity anyway. We had to carry our bags down the stairs when checking out.

Great Value - Just manage your expectations

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Chelsea Cloisters. We had a 1 bed Studio Apartment on the 9th floor. I think if you choose to stay here you need to be mindful of what you get, how much the accommodation costs, and then manage your expectations accordingly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and quite frankly for the price wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Our only real complaint is that there was only one very small Lift in operation that takes - at best - a max of 4 people. This one Lift alone services hundreds of rooms and flats on no less than nine floors. It's woefully inadequate. There were a few other things we could also mention (i.e. broken windows, broken dining chairs, unsightly plaster cracks and bubbling paintwork) however the many good points out weighed these. And Chelsea Cloisters has a Sainsburys next door and just 10 minutes level easy walk from South Kensington Tube, plus a myriad of restaurants, take-aways, and small shops all grouped around the station. The location is so convenient yet relatively quiet and tucked away. Personally, we felt it was great value for money with our only complaint being a lack of Lifts to the upper floor (I'm 67 and partly disabled).

Had an amazing stay

Had an amazing stay. We liked it so much we booked to stay again for 2 more days at the end of our European tour, and this time we actually booked directly with the Chelsea Cloisters and were even more impressed with the second 2 bed apartment we were allocated. Great reception staff, clean and modern apartment (although building itself is a little dated). The whole team more than deserve the 5 stars of this review. Thank you.

Rat in the room ...

I made my reservations with the hotel directly for 15.11/20.11 for a standart room . We check in on 15.11 , the room was very small & old and not as the same as the pictures. I asked to upgrade the bigger one , I piad extra money and toom the bigger room . The next day I saw ants on the kitchnette , I show them to the staff and they offer me to another room but I did not accept it . They cleaned the room that day . On 19.11 in the morning when I was in the toilet , I saw a rat is coming to the toilet and I scream it ran away , I took my child and go to the reception . the staff went to room to check , but they can not find anything , then staff help me to pick up our luggages , and we left the hotel in 30 minutes . I asked them to refund my money ,they told me to send a email , I send them 2 mails they did not reply and refund the money . Dont even think about to stay at this hotel . It is horrible , this is the worst experince in my life .
