Delighted by Chesney's
Delivery prompt, fireplaces look great and the Heat range is superb to use. Only slight improvement would be that the Heat delivery team explains how to use and look after it. It's worth buying your charcoal from Chesney's too!

I don't always do these reviews but I imagine Chesney had a rough time logistically last summer so they deserve a decent one from me.
Ordering shortly into the 2020 lockdown wasn't perhaps the best time to do so and difficult for Chesney as supplies came from Italy, the worst hit country at that time.
I didn't know what to expect from them throughout. I always had a sort of doubt somewhere at the back of my mind about what would happen.
To their credit they kept me informed as time went on and I did eventually get my Chesney. I should not really have had those doubts as Chesney were excellent and so far I am pleased with everything. They do deserve the 5 stars for being honest and for keeping to what they said they would try to do, and for the great outdoor cooker that I got.

I absolutely love my Chesneys
I have a Chesney wood burner, the Shoreditch model and an outside Heat and Grill - both are absolutely fabulous, perfectly designed, stylish and robust.
Service from the company was also excellent.

Chesneys Fireplace
Bought a Chesneys Burlington Fire surround for the main lounge. The sheer elegance and style has brought a sense of luxury to the room. More than that, although there are similar surrounds by other manufacturers, the quality of the limestone and the craftsmanship of Chesneys is head and shoulders above the rest.

Nightmare gas stove
I acquired a gas stove 6 years ago. They are expected to last for 10 year according to their sales team. It has been the most troublesome appliance I have ever had - they even supplied the wrong model in the first instance. Their back up is so appalling (cancelled appointments and no stock held of parts) that more recently I found my own gas engineer to service the fire. After enduring the nightmare that this fireplace has caused the final straw came when my gas engineer was supplied twice with the wrong part after being told it was out of stock. I now have a fire that does not work at all. In desperation and anger I emailed Nicholas Chesney to ask them to take the fire away and to give me a refund for the years that it has not worked. He declined and offered my gas engineer a refund for the incorrect parts if he was to get in touch. I think that Chesneys have provided me with false information with regard to the efficiency of their products and availability of service and parts and I am considering the next steps. I have never written a review about anything before.

We had a large Salisbury gas stove with…
We had a large Salisbury gas stove with balanced flue installed just before Christmas. Within a week the black paint inside on the back of the fire started to tarnish then peel off. Within10 days, the two mirrored sides within the fire box fell off, you could see just a tiny outline of what looks like a glue gun applied adhesive underneath that has failed. We couldn’t contact anyone over Christmas, so did so in the new year. Chesneys referred us back to the supplier who asked for further photos. We were shocked to see when we opened the door to take the photos that there was a huge amount of soot/tar buildup in the fire. We inspected the balanced flue outside and were dismayed to see a black sooty stained deposit of about 10 foot above the flue from the emissions that has badly marked our brickwork. Chesney's offered to send us some paint and glue to paint the interior ourselves and stick the mirror back on, we should not be expected to patch a substandard product that isn’t fit for purpose. No offer to inspect and we are very disappointed that there is no intention to after spending over £2500 on the fire.

Awaiting Credit since October 2020
Ordered kit off Chesney's in October 2020 and , as I had the wrong size, had to order the 8kw baffle etc. Returned the original ones on October 29 which cost £15 in courier fees but have had no CREDIT from Chesney's as of today(5 Jan 2020) despite numerous emails. Customer service less than poor. Please can you assist.

Very poor experience
I bought a Chesney wood burning stove in early 2018 and have been very disappointed with it. It has been used less than 12 times and the problems we have had include:
1. The door handle falls off constantly; it is held in place by 2 tiny grub screws which are not up to the job of holding the handle in place.
2. The door insulating cord has just fallen off, making the stove unusable until it is replaced.
3. The stove regularly pours smoke into our living room until the fire is properly going.
We have had the stove serviced.
If you want to buy a wood burning stove, I suggest you buy a Scandinavian brand where they have the relevant expertise.

Excellent products, poor back office.
The important part is that the stove fitting was very well done and a year in is still looking good and functioning well. Our fitter was helpful, polite and tidy.
The ordering was pretty hopeless. They lost our order and it was only our chasing that got things moving. Apparently there was a rogue member of staff who wasn’t passing the details on. If you can accept some effort to get what you want, then the products are excellent.

It has changed our relationship with our outdoor space
I have to say it has changed our relationship with our outdoor space! We bought the Garden Gourmet product at the beginning of lockdown. The item arrived with a faulty thermometer, but after a quick call to Chesneys this was resolved and a new part sent out. The white glove delivery was brilliant (maybe a bit on the expensive side!), they were very professional, neat and clean. I was hesitant at spending so much on essentially a BBQ, but when you factor in it is a heater, and a pizza oven it becomes more palatable! We've used it weekly, and it has been so easy to use, our neighbours are very, very jealous! Using it as a fire is great, it kicks out good heat, takes the smoke away so you don't end up smelling like you've been on the fire yourself. Awesome product that cooks a diverse range of food really well
Poor quality control, never again.
Poor quality control. Ordered a Chesneys Heat and Grill (possibly the most expensive BBQ in the world?) only to find imperfections and minor damage. Products are marketed as high end and British, but the Heat and Grills are manufactured and shipped in from China, with no QA inspection when they arrive in the UK. First damaged unit was picked up and another sent, also had damage! Delivery drivers said that damage was sometimes found by customers, but most didn't mind because it was a BBQ and was going to live outside anyway! When spending £1500 on a BBQ, I expect it to arrive perfect. Second damaged unit was collected and a refund given. Time from initial order being placed, to refund being given was well over a month. Never again would I buy from Chesneys.

Purchased a heat and grill a couple of weeks ago and the product does not disappoint. Best BBQ we have ever bought and effortlessly changes into a patio log burner for the evening wind down after your main event. Quality is amazing and it is really easy to clean the day after. Make sure you purchase the custom made cover as it fits to perfection. Super happy with this really well made product and can see it will last us many summers.
HEAT BBQ and Stoves - very happy.
We have two Chesney's stoves in the house and have just invested in their new BBQ/Heater product.
The stoves have an exceptional build quality and we think they are the most aesthetically pleasing and well proportioned designs on the market (we have a Sailsbury 5KW and 8KW).
Given that we're going to spend lots of time at home this summer we've invested in the HEAT. We've used it quite a few times now to cook all sorts of things (even a cake). I would definitely recommend learning how to use and control the BBQ to get the most out of it (if you already understand how to control a wood stove then the bbq should be no problem).
We weren't sure how good the heat output would be but once we've finished cooking and put it on heat mode then we get the same controlled and beautiful lazy flames that you get on the stoves (like a fiery northern lights in on your patio). It's noticeable that when the sun goes down and the dew starts to settle, that we are still comfortable outside. Sometimes we stay at the table and sometimes we move the chairs to gather closer to the bbq.
We've used it in two locations as you can wheel it round but the wheels aren't really designed to be moved all the time by the looks of them but still a useful feature. I think this is the only slight flaw - perhaps the thermometer could also do with a rethink is to how it fits into the design but this is very useful for cooking.
Overall V happy.
Marred by impractical design.
After 20 years experience with another woodburner, we had a new Chesney Salisbury 8 WS installed and I have now used it for several months. Although we had no problems with installation and the quality of the stove looks OK, I have issues with the design. In particular the lack of an ash tray is a serious deficiency. Removing ash (weekly) is messy and unpleasant. There is also no provision for bottom air which is useful when lighting or reviving a sluggish burn. I also find that the burning area is too shallow and the front baffle prevents efficient loading. 9 out of 10 for quality, 4 out of 10 for design..
