Great place to stay.

Please be very aware that they do not update details of properties. The pictures(which looked amazing) and description of the property we stayed at were probably valid when taken many years ago but were very different to what was on offer after many years of being rented out.

Within an hour of arriving at our accommodation we were very disappointed. The property was dirty, damp and moldy. The basic necessities for cooking were missing or not working, no oven gloves and only one very dirty tea towel provided.
Also the outside patio furniture and barbecue was old, broken and rusty.
When I raised these issues with the property manager the first issue was address but the other completely ignored.
As a family that normally goes out all day then returns at teatime to cook and spend the evening outside on the patio at property we could not do this resulting in significant extra expense to ourselves to eat out

Also be very aware of the terms and conditions you are signing
When we complained (i will give anyone the chance to put right a mistake) they then referred to these to get themselves out of any responsibility for what they had sold us, and it states only £100 as maximum compensation which is a joke when you've paid thousands of pounds to rent a property

Our annual family holiday which we looked forward to every year was far from perfect as it normally is.

We will NEVER be using Choice Cottages again due to their complete lack any any customer care.

after their response where they have again tried to dismiss responsibility.
The property was not suffering from general wear and tear (that you expect and accept) it was suffering from long term neglect by owner
The property manager did sort out the first issue by sending out a cleaner the following day, (but the property should have been cleaned between guests properly, bins where not emptied and and carpet was covered in dog hair) but he then didn't respond or reply to the other issues raised and you specifically quote not to contact choice cottages during your stay but to liaise with the property manager so yes we could only bring them to your attention on your feedback form after our stay.

It impacted our stay because we couldn't use the kitchen to cook proper meals (which we normally do) so had an added expense of eating out and buying takeaways which we expected some compensation for as the cottages on your website was listed with a fully equipped and functioning kitchen which it did not have.

We have been hiring out a cottage every summer within Cornwall & Devon for over 20 years and this is the first time we used choice cottages and the first time we have ever had to complain.

The accommodation was excellent. The property was furnished to a high standard and the location was great midway between the village and beach meant it was just a short walk, via a path to both. On the downside the internet was a little flaky and as this appeared to be the source for the TV it did make both the TV and general internet access a little unreliable.

Prompt and clear communication at all times, and property was a reasonable price in comparison to others, and in a good location near Croyde Bay.

Great place to stay, well designed interiors to make the most of the space - coastal theme. Kitchen very well equipped for self caterial. Great restarants nearby. Location right next to the Tarka Way was perfect for our cycling adventures, with great bike storage in the outbuilding on the bike hangers. Location was so peaceful, wonderful for walks and beach times.
A cosy place either in summer or winter.
Hosts very responsive.

We had a lovely stay at Norma's Cottage during the August bank holiday. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very comfortable, has a cute little garden and a great bath! It is equipped with everything one could need for a 5 day stay, including lots of kitchen equipment. It was very quiet so we slept really well! The final touch was arriving to lovely breakfast for the morning after, scones and cream and jam and milk in the fridge, also french press coffee. That made our day!
We also really enjoyed reading about the history of the house and the property manager was very helpful at answering all our questions straight away.

We loved staying at the little cottage in Ilfracombe. Location was great for access to the beaches and the wedding venue. Great communication from Choice Cottages though we didn't have any issues.

Fantastic stay at Overton House. Lovely house, great location. Safe enclosed garden for our cocker spaniel. Hot tub was great. Lovely and very helpful hosts. Would definitely return

We had a lovely stay, the apartment has a wonderful view and the kitchen is well equipped. The company were helpful. We would very much recommend staying - Putsborough is a wonderful beach location.

Thatchers hideaway is a great place to stay, really close everything and some of the best beaches around.

The house was well equipped and clean. We appreciated all the info on arrival and easy access into the house. Myself, partner and kids really liked the little walk way into the house, really made it feel hidden.

The hot tub was really decent, especially on the long walking days.

I completely recommend it and we will return.

We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage in Croyde Bay. The location is perfect-just a short walk to the beach and local amenities.
The cottage itself is comfortable with everything needed for a relaxing holiday, there were some lovely touches that made us feel welcome. The only small downside was that the shower could do with an update, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. We'd definitely love to return!

The glasses and baking trays were dirty, the basic necessities for cooking anything were missing, including oven gloves, a vegetable peeler and kitchen roll, the washing machine had mould in the dispenser drawer, we were given 2 toilet rolls for an entire week for a family of 5 … and the fire extinguisher was rusty and out of gas!
When I raised these issues with the property manager and Choice Cottages, their response was mainly thanks to us for raising the issues “so they can improve their services”. Not helpful for our annual family holiday which we had planned for and looked forward to for a year! We will not be using Choice Cottages again.

Our flat was so clean and well cared for and had everything we needed for a wonderful week on the north Devon coast - thank you!

Wonderful apartment with stunning views and close to all amenities. Owners were very kind and helpful.Only problem was the 2 flights of stairs up to the apartment. Being almost 80 years old it was a bit of a struggle but still manageable.

Choice Cottages dealt with my enquiry fast, efficiently and very courteously. The details of cottages for rent are accurate with photo's.
I came upon this company by accident, they should look to enhance their site online to get fully coverage.
