Excellent Adult Education
I have participated in several courses at City Lit over the past few years, both online and in person. All the courses have been well organised, extremely interesting and thought provoking. The tutors are excellent and take great efforts to make the sessions inclusive and engaging.

Life Enhancing
I am attending a film studies course at the City Lit which enriches my life tremendously. The lecturer takes us through the history of film explaining the contexts of the different schools and illustrating each one with a classic genre-defining film. The discussions that follow are lively and interesting and deepen the whole experience.

Impossible to use IT
The course is Fantastic! But City lit had a breach on their data file and decided to change their computer snd account fir students to log in. What a disaster! 3 weeks into the short course and NOTHING WORKS! No classroom, no emails, no access to anything at all. Submit the homework on line? Forget it. Try to get in touch with the IT dept? Forget it! I love my tutor! I love the course, but I hate the way City Lit does not allow any kind of IT support! I am fuming after 3 hours of trying to create an account! Pathetic!

The website and Google Classroom is rubbish
The website is rubbish, I'm afraid. I cannot login to my Google Classroom, where files are meant to be had. This could have been a fairly simple setup, but it is made needlessly complicated. AND there is no direct phoneline to technical support. If you call tech support, you simply get hung up and 'redirected' to the website, which is little to no help. I have had several issues now and only gradually been able to get through to setting up my Google Classroom, now giving me the following message:
"This password does not meet the length, complexity, age, or history requirements of your corporate password policy."
I have already wasted a ridiculous amount of time trying to set this up, and now I'm being asked to show up in person to get it sorted. Considering that we pay for these courses, it shouldn't be so difficult accessing your course material.

1919 to 2023 - a centre of excellence, then and now
I have attended several courses at City Lit both in person and on-line and I can safely say that they have all far exceeded the norm that one might expect for adult learning and teaching. The courses I have taken between 2018 and 2023 have included Latin, French, Art History, Anglo Saxon England and Old English, and I am currently enrolled on a practical lino cutting and printing course. The cost is not excessive, the premises suitable, and the venue is very central for those in London. Prompted by Covid, City Lit has adapted very well to delivering courses on line and those I have taken were very well organised with no technical hitches. I would particularly single out the Art History department for the quality of the courses I enrolled on, especially 'German Art of the Weimar Republic' and, 'American Visionaries: art in the 30s and 40s'. These two courses were beyond excellent in terms of content and presentation, offering inspiring insight into times, places, lives, attitudes and behaviours previously unknown to me. City Lit has a long standing history for quality and in my experience it continues to offer first class courses, taught by first class teachers at very reasonable cost. For anyone who loves learning this City Lit is an ideal haven in which to do so.

Learning the piano is hard but very rewarding. The teacher gives you what you need to know, you just have to practice each week and you get better

Humanities courses now all online
I used to enjoy history and economics classes at Citylit. Unfortunately they are not for me anymore as they are all online. Saving money for you I suppose but stopping a lot of people from accessing them

A Great Learning Institution
A Great Learning Institution especially for me who didn't get to learn certain languages and other courses to fulfil those goals. It's never too late. Stay Motivated!

The Empowering City Lit
To tell you the truth. when I left the British Army in the 1970's and my medical qualifications was not recognized by the then civilian authorities...I enrolled at the City Lit on one of the first Access courses in the country and was truly empowered by a tutor called Carole Haskell...Now known as Lady Carole Haskell... Had it not been for her skills in mentoring and empowerment I would not have entered the University of Durham.
Recently I completed an online course with the City Lit the tutors name was Martin Jorgensen...It was a truly empowering and informative course...However, it was the empowerment and mentoring of Lady Carole Haskell that made my dreams and aspirations come true.
May God bless all the staff at the City Lit for empowering it's students.

An Exceptional Journey in Sports Massage!
I recently completed the Sports Massage Levels 3,4 & 5 at City Lit College, located in Aldwych/Holborn with excellent transport links. This course was intensive, demanding a substantial commitment of time and effort. However, the support and exceptional teaching at City Lit make this journey not only achievable but transformative. Please read on for my detailed review.
As a qualified masseuse, I initially lacked confidence in my abilities, feeling stuck in a comfort zone with the same techniques I had learned during my Level 3 training. Enrolling in these advanced courses turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. My skills, knowledge, and confidence have soared to levels I once thought were unattainable.
A significant part of this transformative experience was our tutor, Trevor. Trevor is truly gifted, both in his teaching abilities and his vast knowledge of all aspects of massage. He possesses a deep understanding of the challenges that new and experienced massage therapists face and, importantly, how to overcome them. Trevor's commitment to his students' success goes above and beyond and his guidance and unwavering support were instrumental in helping me navigate a family crisis that occurred during the course. Even during these personal challenges, Trevor's unwavering mentorship, empathy and motivation were instrumental in keeping me on track and engaged in the coursework and key in keeping me focussed, even during times I doubted myself.
Classes:
The classes themselves were not just informative but also enjoyable. They had a light and insightful atmosphere, making every Friday something to look forward to. This Sports Massage Course is a remarkable journey of growth and self-discovery. If you're ready to push your boundaries, gain exceptional skills, and boost your confidence, this is the place to be. Trevor's passion for massage is evident in every aspect of his teaching. His natural gift for massage shines through in his hands-on demonstrations and guidance. He is refreshingly open and honest, which creates an environment where learning and growth feel natural. Trevor's willingness to share his osteopathy skills was an unexpected but delightful bonus, adding depth and versatility to our training.
Course:
One of the standout features of these courses is the structured progression. Each level builds upon what we've learned in previous modules, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated understanding of sports massage. The opportunity to practice our skills through in-house clinics and interactions with members of the public, fellow students and staff was invaluable. It allowed us to gain practical experience and refine our techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals. The centre and equipment was high spec and clean, and learning material provided was consistently up to date, well-organised, and distributed in a timely manner. This made studying and preparing for classes a seamless process. Alan, the head of programming, deserves a special mention for his friendly, approachable nature. He was always available and willing to go the extra mile to assist students and impart his own knowledge and experience. His presence added to the overall positive and welcoming atmosphere at the college.
City Lit College's strong connections within the complementary therapy community were highly beneficial. They regularly informed us of job and volunteering opportunities, emphasising their commitment to helping students transition into the real-world application of their skills. In conclusion, my experience at City Lit College for Sports Massage Levels 3,4 & 5 was nothing short of exceptional. Trevor's expertise, the structured curriculum, the supportive learning environment, and the college's community connections combine to create an ideal setting for personal and professional growth.
If you're looking to expand your horizons in the field of massage therapy, I wholeheartedly recommend this course, it's been a game changer for how I approach and treat my clients. I only wish I did this sooner. Thank you, City Lit College, Trevor, Alan and Oge for an incredible journey of learning and self-discovery!

Immersed in ballet!
The begginer’s ballet lessons were enjoyable and well planned, allowing us students to build on our skills week after week. The teacher was knowledgeable and friendly and interacted with all students to ensure we all progressed. The facilities at the City Lit were good, clean changing rooms, free water coolers a roof top garden, comfortable waiting areas and weekly art exhibitions to sneek a peek at!
