Disappointing
Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing, primarily because the move took significantly longer and cost more than expected.
The original estimate provided during my initial phone call increased by one hour on the day of the move, before the move even began. The crew then went another hour beyond the revised estimate, resulting in approximately two additional hours compared with what I was originally quoted.
What made this particularly frustrating was that the additional time appeared avoidable. Throughout the move, we frequently observed crew members taking extended or frequent breaks, sitting in the truck, and using their phones rather than actively moving our belongings. We completely understand that movers need reasonable breaks given the physical nature of the work, but the amount of downtime was noticeable and contributed to the move taking longer.
When customers are paying based on time, efficiency matters. It was frustrating to be charged for an additional hour beyond an estimate that had already been increased by an hour, especially after observing so much downtime.
To make matters worse, after the move ran over and we were charged the additional time, we were then directly asked for a tip. While we normally have no problem tipping for good service, being asked for a tip under these circumstances felt inappropriate and left an even more negative impression.
The crew was polite, but the overall experience could have been much better with stronger time management, less unnecessary downtime, and clearer expectations regarding estimates, breaks, phone use, and tipping.
