What kind of Bank is this?

I am new to Berlin and also a student studying in the private university of Berlin. Five months back, I opened an account with the commerzbank and suddenly I came to know that they have closed my account without any prior notice. When I reached out to the bank they were responding to my questions irresponsibly. As a student I already attached my Iban with insurance, transportation and other institutions so that they could easily deduct the amount from my account. Now things are getting worser as I am also awaiting for the blocked amount. Due to their reckless actions this has given me a lot of stress making my life even harder. Sorry to say, your service was an utter failure. We as a customer open an account only to be closed shortly without our knowledge or concerns.

Just because I moved abroad they…

Just because I moved abroad they decided to close all my cards and accounts after being a client for almost 10 years. All blocked with no good reason.
This has to be illegal, blocking access to your funds like that.
Total lack of respect, painfully slow, they are not responsive and forget about finding anybody from customer "service" to pick up the phone.
Total joke. Stay away.

Ridiculous service

Ridiculous service! My husband opened an account in Commerzbank. We moved from USA to Germany and it was our first experience. It took them so long to send us debit and credit cards! I believe, 1 month. Frankly, firstly they sent only PIN codes without actual cards! How is it possible even? That was a very first bad sign. Later we received a letter with the following information: “We blocked your card, call us to fix this issue”( the number was given in this letter). But it’s impossible to reach them, we have been calling the entire week! We visited our local branch, they said they can’t help us as well and we still need to call them!We are very disappointed! 0 appreciation of their customers! Such a terrible service with 0 care about the quality of services they provide or pretend to...

Worst bank ever for customer service

Worst bank ever for customer service. They do not have customer care at the core. Instead of helping the customer they created more stress. Each time telling us the issue will be resolved but it never did for 3 weeks. At the end me and my husband had to sort out everything our self. So much time and energy wasted. This bank has been nothing but useless Defoe choosing another bank ! @commerzbank hope you learn to put your customers first!!!

They call discrimination "company policy"

Just was told that they cannot open a joint bank account for me and my husband because of his ID documents (he is a recognized refugee in Germany, hence holds legitimation and travel documents issued by the German authorities!). I asked why and they told me it's company policy. When I pressed by telling them that by law all banks are required to open at least basic accounts for refugees, they admitted that indeed he can apply for a basic account, but not to the same conditions (that is, he would have to pay fees, while we wanted to open a "Girokonto"). Long story short, refugees cannot open bank accounts to the same conditions as the rest of customers, and for no reason whatsoever (besides chauvinism, xenophobia, or whatever you want to call it). If you believe that this behaviour is unacceptable -just imagine they refused to open accounts for women to the same conditions as for men!- please do boycott them!

Extremely horrible bank

Extremely horrible bank, with bad customer service with an overfill of unnecessary dabblers. I do wonder why they are even still in the market, these descendants of Hitler. I noticed some inconsistencies with my bank account and have been requesting my bank statement (to control this myself) to no avail. I still want my money though!!! They are amateurs with covering up information and thats why I will now file a formal complaint with Bafin and also with a key investor.

0 value

If I would be able to rate Commerzbank zero, that's what I would do.
They promote their services in English everywhere: well, good luck getting someone that speaks in this language. And when they pick the phone they are rude, cannot provide any of the information you asked for.
Had to wait more than an hour on the phone to get someone able to talk to me in English. None of the documentations available has been translated, therefore for any extra things you need, you must call their useless customer service.
The services are super expensive and totally not worth it. I will be moving to another bank. Scammers.

Good service

Good service, the app is decent (and usefully available in English too) and no fees for a basic current account.

I am from the Netherlands and as I had…

I am from the Netherlands and as I had bought an apartment in Berlin I opened a bankaccount at Commerzbank Wilmersdorf, july 2019. The employee was very friendly and said it was all no problem that I was mainly living in the Netherlands and opened an account to pay the essential costs, like for energy, Hausverwaltung, telephone/internet, GEZ in Germany. According to her it wasn't important that I had my job in the Netherlands and received my salary there. She even said there were no costs for the use of the account as long as I transferred money from the Netherlands to the Commerzbankaccount Germany from time to time to be able to pay those costs. How surprised I was when I got a telephone call a few days ago (22th of november). 'There would have been made a mistake'. As someone having a house in Berlin, but mainly living in the Netherlands I could only keep this account for the price of 29 euros a MONTH! According to the employee this was because they see me as an international client. And international clients pay extra. So, fully against what had been agreed and 29 euros per month, fully ridiculous. It was presented as kind of reasonable choice, but which bank asks 29 euro a month for the use of common bankservices? If I wouldn't accept that, they would have to stop my account as soon as possible. As this amount of money seems exorbitant compared to what Germans themselves pay, I really don't accept their offer. I'm a European citizen who brings money to Germany by spending my days there regularly, but apparently I have to pay extra for that. I thought the European Union was for all citizens and would make it possible to move and act freely in the EU without inconveniences. Very impolite to tell A during the first talks and say B a few months later. No apologies have been made yet for the false information. The employee even blamed the staff of the headquarters of the bank to her own defense. Today I have spent the whole day making it possible at the firms I have to pay monthly costs to (internet-, energycompany, GEZ, insurance) etc to get the permission to pay from a Dutch bankaccount. I am hopeful I will manage, but want to warn all international clients, especially my Dutch compatriots against this Commerzbank. At first they want you as a client, just to try firmly to kick you out a few months later. Be warned guys!!!

The worst bank ever!

The worst bank ever!
They sent my documents to the wrong address. Mass of incorrect information. Can't access my money since they haven't sent documents to me!? (They promised to send appropriate documents for 6 weeks, now!!)
They never responded to my complaint. They never returned booked call - they were lying they will.
And more...
PURE NIGHTMARE!
At the Kurt-Schumacher Damm Branch, the staff is completely incompetent and when I caught the red handed they are trying to hide wrongdoings instead of apologizing and moving on.
At the moment, the case/complaint is with Ombudsman (Staff at Ombudsman's office were 'laughing', not surprised at all) covering Data Protection Act breach, unlawful withholdings of the money, causing the financial loss to my company etc.
Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Even one star is too much

Even one star is too much. I tried to open a bank account for my salary. After I am signed up online, it automatically told me to bring my work permit and passport with me. I did. The customer representative also told me to bring my place of residence. Why didnt you inform me then? The other day I went there again just to submit my place of residence, after a week, I got 'haven't you legitimated your bank account?' emails. I had to go to the bank account because obviously there is a problem. The representative said there was a crash in the system, and she had to enter my info all over again. DUDE. That's Bank. You cant have a breakdown in your system. I also asked if I have to do anything for Online Banking. She told me I have to activate it by myself. My letters about my banking account came after a week (fortunately) and I've been trying to activate online banking. But it tells me I have to register first and send the document to some address. COME ON! Isnt it enough already??? Thats a terrible customer experience! I feel like crying right now because I don't want to deal with this anymore!!! Now what? I am going to send some stuff to some address and wait for another week???? Is that what you want?? It is unbelievable.

Commerzbank is against human rights/forigners

Commerzbank is against human rights and against foreigners, i tried to open account , it was refused because i am from egypt, and the employee at kantplatz, Hannover , said directly to my face that you are from egypt and your country is high risks and we cant open an account for you, i felt shocked and i have never been treated this in Deutschland , i raised a complaint and they said true Egypt is a high risk country for them!, i don’t know how can they judge people like that. I am happy i am not customer of a bank disrespects human rights.

Xenophobic and unprofessional staff

Xenophobic and unprofessional staff, I was denied a free account because of my nationality at a local branch. When I complained to the customer service they referred me by e-mail to another representative, by poor grammar and unprofessional e-mail, refused to give me a reasonable explanation.

Xenophobia in Commerzbank

so after six months of using the bank account, the manager did not help me to work out what happened with my 100 euro Rewe coupon. Instead of it, she arranged a meeting with me at 9.00. she was 20 min late and told me that as I don't know German good, she canceled my account. She was very rude and unprofessional. Don't recommend this branch and the bank. The whole situation is xenophobic, was not expect this.
