A great bit of kit

Ordered one while the price was £580. Arrived within 48 hours. Assembly as easy as it gets. 5 mins. The hardest part is the weight of the outside unit but it isn’t unmanageable. Had the whole thing out of the box and belting out cold air within 10 mins. Followed instructions and ran unit for one hour. Two thermometers, outside and in. Outside temp 17 Celsius. Inside temp after 15 mins, 10 Celsius. Dropped to 9 after. Did a second installation run and it took 5 mins. I think I’ll look for a stowage bag. Other than that, I’ll write an update when I return from southern France.

What can i say about this fantastic…Fantastic bit of kit

What can i say about this fantastic unit, from payment to delivery, was quick and easy, and being kept informed at all times. we are using this unit in the south of france in our caravan, and it works so well that the wife keeps moaning it gets too cold with a night-time temp of over 30°C. The unit is easy to install and use, and i have to give top marks for this.

A brilliant aircon unit.

We have had a unit for 11 years and have used it as a bedroom aircon when living in Madrid province and in our caravan which is kept in the hotter part of the south of France. It has functioned perfectly with no problems, and has kept us consistently cool. This year we took it to Essendine for a service ( not due to a defect but we thought the unit deserved it), and had superb treatment. The unit is still in good condition.
Highly recommend the unit and the company.

Recently bought one second hand

Recently bought one second hand, I've tried it out in camper and made the brackets work with width of window frame, I'm only not quite sure how the drain works on underside of fan unit, do I just attach a pipe and drain it externally, or does moisture collect in unit and I empty it sometimes?

Great Customer Service

Had a problem with the unit and could not be happier with the outcome and the ease of dealing with the company. Excellent after sales and highly recommend the company.

Excellent purchase experience

The ordered unit was damaged in transit. After 1 email this was swiftly dealt with and couldn't be happier with the service and replacement unit (where an upgrade to a non refurbished unit was handled fantastically well). An excellent company with excellent customer service. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Excellent

Excellent. Has worked on our yacht in 35-40c in Greece for at least five years now. Makes good quantities of distilled water for our 880Ah of batteries too which allow the unit to be run from an inverter when at anchor too. We just cool the forward cabin where we sleep. The external unit sits on a mat on the foredeck and we have had a UV protection cover made for it as well as a modified hatch seal which prevents any rainwater getting in like in the horrendous storm last night here in Corfu. The first one suffered gas leakage in transit but the suppliers sent a new one out here at their expense and told us to keep the original for spares. (Our boat guardian, in true Yorkshire manner has repaired and re-gassed it for use in his mains free self-build house here!)

Okay I am a fraudster as I have not…

Okay I am a fraudster as I have not bought one yet! I am going to though but the reviews on here have forced me to comment early
All air conditioning units will leak gas if left unused including cars, the seals dry out if left and the gas leaks past them, you need to use it every 3 months or so AND get it serviced one a year too. The Morons moaning about it only lasting 3 years when they only use it for 3 weeks / year are answering their own questions over the units reliability.
Sorry but I am so annoyed by these people who blame someone else for their ignorance.
Well I hope its good when I get one!

Excellent

Excellent! Better than I expected.

We have just returned from Spain and could not have coped at night without our cool my camper unit. We would put on for a couple of hours before going to bed and the motorhome was lovely and cool for bedtime. It’s quiet enough to sleep through and ensured the whole of the motorhome (28ft) was cool.
The only issue we had was the standard brackets wouldn’t fit across our windows because of the blind systems so we can to arrange on tables within and outside of the motorhome.
On the whole the product does what it is supposed to do and is quiet enough to sleep through. 9/10 for me. Would have been 10/10 if the brackets were adjustable and/or option for different width brackets.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

When I bought the coolmycamper air con unit I was very pleased and recommended it on so many social media sites it was unreal.
Bad mistake.
I am now taking time to spread the word.......... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Great when it works but after 3 times using it the 4th time it didn't.
I of course contacted them to be told (as others on here).......Its lost its gas take it somewhere.
HOW THE HELL CAN IT LOSE ITS GAS.
If they all lose there gas its a design fault and needs to be rectified.
The two year warranty is mad because chances are it will only be used for 2 or 3 weeks per year.
We've had it under the bed in the motorhome on a cushion wrapped in blankets and treated with eggshell care.
Now in SW France heading to Spain with 2 dogs in the heat.
Question is do I just bin it or cart the useless piece of junk around until I can find someone to sort it all at my expense.
Its as much use a chocolate teapot.
Dont buy one.

Our first unit was found to be defective on the day of delivery. However Cool my Camper promptly arranged collection on the same day and we soon received a replacement. The airconditioner easily brought an ambient temperature down to 19 degrees from 28 degrees in our caravan. The outside unit is quiet producing the noise of a dishwasher working , probability less noise than a rooftop aircon . The inside is the equivalent noise of a fan , because that is what it is. It cost less than half the price of the roof top AC we have on pur barge and it can be transfered to another caravan or motorhome. Dont take any notice of the " why do you need aircon in the uk " brigade they haven't got a clue and it works in 1.5 amps 240v . 5 stars all day long.

Great for our purposes

We are a family of five and own a large caravan (7m internal length). We holiday in France each year, where the temperature regularly reaches 30+ degrees during the day and can remain at 20+ degrees at night. Unsurprisingly we have found it almost impossible to sleep in these conditions so we decided to source a cost effective cooling solution to provide us with some respite at night. This unit will not keep a large van cool in high heat during the day; it does not have the cooling power, nor does it claim to do so. Do not buy it for this purpose! However, if you switch it on a couple of hours before bed it WILL make all the difference to your comfort overnight, even in a large space. For this purpose alone, it's one of the best accessories I've ever bought for our caravan. The background hum doesn't keep us awake and you can set the timer to switch off during the night. The ordering process and delivery were all very painless and the company were pleasant to deal with over the phone.

We bought a cool my camper unit just…

We bought a cool my camper unit just over 3 years ago and I have to say it was fantastic - until it wasnt! In August this year the control panel stopped working . Although it was out of warranty I would have expected the supplier to offer at least some support with getting it fixed. Instead, i was directed to deal directly with the factory in Holland, who were also not that helpful , just suggesting that I should take to any local a/c supplier - i did so and they said it was too specialised. The factory (Eurom) suggested then I courier it to them (at my cost). I did so and the courier managed to lose it, so I am now having to pursue a claim against them. In the meantime, we will be buying another unit (at price almost 20% more than we paid last time), as there is no other option if we want to take our dofgs on holiday and be able to leave them in the van but not until much nearer the time of our next hot holiday as I feel i need to make the guarantee last as long as possible, and would also ask that you consider offering some kind of extended guarantee option

Apologies for the delay in replying to your review. I have checked our sales system and see that your order was placed with us in April this year. I have no other orders for you. I am sorry the company you purchased the original unit from could not help you.

We offer a two year warranty (which you queried on purchasing plus after sales customer care and regasing service) I hope you have many years of cooling with the new unit.

I bought one of the A/C units

I bought one of the A/C units, its was delivered very quickly. But it was left on the front doorstep in the rain in a cardboard box for anyone to see. All other couriers leave to rear or in a hut to rear out of sight. It was damaged, the casing was bulging and some of the plastic distorted. Reply from company was, We ve had a few like this, blamed on couriers , push it back in. I actually had to borrow a extra long screwdriver due to sunken screws, undo casing then push it back in although there was still marks in the plastic and slight bulge. It could not have been resold as perfect. Suggestion of a discount or replacement resulted in, return it. As I only had a few days before going away, the saga having taken several days, I had to decide whether to just put up with damage or put up with being hot Delivery great after service not

It is disappointing Brian that you felt you had to leave, what is essentially, a contradictory review. We have corresponded via email a dozen times and this morning when we spoke (I wanted to ask why you had changed your mind and decided to keep the unit) you said you were entitled to your opinion and were hoping for recompense (money for your troubles). I would like to outline the facts:

You received a unit via DPD (not our own courier but one who we have a contract with). DPD text with a delivery time slot of an hour in which an item is due. I do not know if you received this or whether you thought our next day delivery was not achievable, but you were not home when they called. The unit was left outside however we, as a business, have insurance should it have gone “missing”.

When you opened the box you saw that the casing had popped and questioned whether it was a manufacturing fault or we were selling a returned item. I have copied the text from my email “Thank you for your email and photographs. It will have happened in transit, it is nothing to do with manufacturer, dismantling or anything else untoward! The sides have come apart, it is easy to pop them back in and the unit does normally work absolutely fine - we have come across this on several occasions. Are you happy to give this a go if it is working ok? It will not affect your warranty (which is valid for two years) and if there is an issue at a later date we would of course collect the unit from you.”

Your reply “Thanks I will try and pop it back in. I did not want to mess about with it and run the risk of cracking casing” to which our reply was “…we [CMC] have simply applied a little pressure to push it back in place. If it does crack and you are not happy we will discuss again. I am sorry for the inconvenience and worry this has caused you.”

There were another three emails between us where you stated you had rectified the issue but were “aggrieved” you had to push the casing together yourself.

My final email to you was “Yes we can collect and provide a new unit, I am very sorry and understand completely. Can you please confirm what day the unit will be available for collection? The courier can offer mornings or afternoons, unfortunately not a time. The unit will need to be packaged and boxed up sufficiently to come back to us. I will ask my colleague Kirsty to arrange a collection for you.”

You replied “Clearly my only choice is to accept the slight damage if I want to ensure I have a working cooling unit in time for my 3 month trip in a few days. The times I am likely to be in over the next few days are limited. So I will reluctantly hold on to the present unit in the hope it performs as it should.”

You said on our call this morning that you wanted money for a non-perfect unit. I offered to collect the unit from you on return from you holiday (after you have used it for three months) and provide a full refund. You “said we’ll see” and put the phone down.

Transformed our holiday

We had stopped going to Tuscany a few years ago due to the heat. Bought one of these units this year and went back. It transformed our holiday in both Tuscany and Venice. Our caravan ( 7 metres long) was kept at a lovely temperature, noise levels are low. The service from the company in terms of fast delivery, clear instructions etc was superb. Thoroughly recommend this unit and company.

Time is of the essence.

My title is thus, because we live in the UK. NI to be precise. The weather has been so bad all summer I've not had a chance to put my lovely new A/C unit to work. Sadly.
I would be really grateful if you could contact me in twelve months, so that I can give you a real critique.

Works well but brackets didn't fit my camper.

Good machine cools the camper well. I found it heavy and the two sections are joined together by the pipe, I would have preferred to separate the two units to make it lighter.
I have had to adapt the brackets and will probably have some made to fit my camper. It would have been useful to have a profile of the brackets on the website!

Reply from Coolmycamper

Thank you for your review Judy, I am glad you have found the unit to work well and cool your camper. The units are heavy when they are together and we would advise having someone help you if you are struggling.

The umbilical cord between the two units contains 3 lines for refrigerant, two 230v flexible cables and a discharge tube for condensate. Disconnection of these components cannot be undertaken by the end user as refrigerant gas will be released and this will present a danger to the user and the environment.

There are so many (hundreds I would assume) different types of windows that it is difficult to have a definitive one bracket fits all. I have noted your comments regarding a profile of the brackets on the website and will ensure this is available. We do have many photographs available on our Facebook page and email these to customer's if required but of course on the website would be much easier!

Once again many thanks for your comments, kind regards Cool My Camper.
