So many reviews on here reminise to our issue. We purchased a Fiesta in March 2024. Upon collection of the car things were starting to unfold. There was water in the boot, glove box was full of mold, cigarette burns, plus mechanical failures. How they use the AA logo under false promises is a huge misrepresentation. The seat runners were rusty and covered up with black paint. We have since rejected the vehicle and have not had the decency of a reply. Luckily, I work for a law firm and they will now be dealing with this matter on my behalf. So many similar stories on here, stay well clear. I'm also contacting the CEO of the AA. I have links with their management team who I'm sure will be interested in my case. Disgusting after sales and beware of these cowboys!

Stay clear!!

Please be very cautious when buying from this car garage. I purchased a Mazda CX5 back in March last year, when we bought the car it had no service history or manual, but we were promised the car was bomb proof we’re Luke’s words! All paperwork was in the garage along with the manual and it would be sent on to us, as the car had only one previous owner with no fault at the previous MOT, we stupidly took his word. With in 12 weeks off my warranty the garage had the car back for several weeks with problems, oil leak, water leak, the main issue was the transmission box, where the car was apparently sent off to get the repair fixed, weeks later just before my warranty ran out, I had a call to say the repair was fixed. However when I requested a receipt off this, I was told they didn’t have one.?I was then told I’d cost them a small fortune and they didn’t want to see me again!!I asked again about my paperwork, and manual for the car but was told they would post it. Feeling slightly unsafe with my car, I decided to take it to a local garage for a basic inspection, where I was told the car looked like it had no previous work done at all?with in months the car was back in the garage with all the warning lights flashing, burnt out oil filter causing water and oil to mix, that was costly enough but worst too come I’ve just had to replace the gearbox, flywheel and clutch costing a small fortune and the worst was being told I’d been sold a pile of s…, I’ve been in contact the whole time with the motortrade ombudsman, who advised me they couldn’t help as Coopers Garage are not registered with them, (another warning flag) but they have told me to contact citizens advice with a full complaint. Save yourself the hassle and fortune of repairs and stay away from these guys!!

Exercise extreme caution before buying from here.

We purchased a car which has since been declared as unfit to drive and condemned by an independent dealer. The holes and rust in the rear suspension was likely to give way and potentially cause a serious accident or worse. In the three months of ownership, it experienced many problems and incurred substantial costs. The garage concurred and collected the car and we have received some of our money back, but not all. I highly recommend you avoid buying a car from this garage.

Poor

Purchased 2 cars at same time, totalling £12000 with the knowledgeof AA approved cars. However, Coopers provide no pre-inspection on their cars. My cars turbo pipe was held on by a Jubilee clip. It's only because the connection broke within a week that it was discovered, so then they ordered new pipe and fitted. My car was also given full 12 month MOT (no advisories???), but after 5000 miles, I had to take car to local trusted garage due to the noise the brakes were making. My car actually needed all 4 discs & pads replaced costing £422.
My wife's car - only had for 1 week, but air conditioning not working. Coopers did provide a basic courtesy car, but had my wife's car for over 3 weeks. Now discovered after 8 months, both door seals completely perished costing £150, and car has been leaking continuously around hatchback boot creating pools of water within boot well and running into the car itself.
Please purchase your cars elsewhere

Sold me a car (Focus) that developed electrical issues within 3 months of purchase was supposed to be under warrantee but their warrantee is an absolute joke.
Luckily I purchased the car on my credit card so I ended up using a section 75 of the consumer credit act to get a refund from the card company.
Worst possible customer service ever.

Was Best Car Dealer but need more appropriate advice elsewhere

I bought an inexpensive Skoda Superb 3rd April 2021, which is 14 years old. I chose Coopers at Pontygwindy Road, Caerphilly CF83 3HQ, because they offered a 3 month Warranty. I found three small problems. They came out and took it back, once I drove car to their garage and was given a no quibble free loan car, each time they did everything necessary including new parts and battery. I was welcome to use their comfortable waiting room, free coffee included.
As gullible elderly lady with no supporting help, I felt looked after. Luke at their office taxed the car for me, all I had to do was wait for DVLA to send me the new log book.
FEW months later. I now realise I should not have bought this car. As an elderly lady who told them I only drive a few miles a week, I think I should have been advised a 2.5 Litre car takes a great deal of battery on start up, and the few miles I drive per week cannot charge up a battery that depletes the battery so much.
It is inappropriate. It means I shall have to drive it at least 50 miles a week even though I have nowhere to go. Just drive up and down major roads simply to charge the battery. I never had this trouble with any of my 1800cc old cars.
I never knew this when I bought the car as my mechanical knowledge is not great.
Having to park across the road to my house, I cannot charge it electrically.
When I get rid of it and buy another I will need a dealer who appreciates my circumstances and gives me better advice.

We purchased a vehicle unseen (with 12…

We purchased a vehicle unseen (with 12 months MOT) from Cooper Car Sales during the pandemic, at the beginning of December 2020.

We live 3 hours away from the dealership, but purchasing from them made sense as it coincided with a business trip my wife had to take. The car looked good and if not cheap the price seemed fair and not as expensive as some vehicles of the same age and condition.

We feel thoroughly foolish for being so trusting and are the best part of £1000 out of pocket as a result.

There are two small issues, one main issue and a fourth which is a decision we have made based on the quality of the service we have received.

Issues are described in the order we discovered them.

My wife drove our old VW Polo to the dealership (PX) and picked up the new car. Upon arriving home she drove it happily for a few weeks. She commented that it stalled a bit easily. I was busy and didn't have the time to check it over. Assumed everything was fine.

After a few weeks we went to the beach and I drove. First thing I noticed was wear on the tyres. It was mid December and I noticed they were close to their legal tread limit. Nothing to be done I thought. I should have gone with Wife and checked these things when we bought it. Too late to mention it now.

At that point our trust had cost us a set of tyres. (Several weeks later we discovered there was no spare tyre in the car (when my wife got a puncture). This was explained away by Luke as being perfectly normal. The car in question was sold without a spare tyre.)

The second thing I noticed was a large ding in the windscreen, right in the middle of Zone A (the drivers direct view). It was (is) on the limit of what would fail an MOT. Definitely not an automatic fail, although I have seen cars failed for smaller chips. Wife noticed it on the way home, but thought it not worth mentioning. It might pass its next MOT with this, but it is quite possible, depending on the tester on the day that it could fail. The chip is close to the 10mm legal limit.

The third and most significant thing was the clutch which was engaging right at the bottom of the pedal, very close to the floor. It was this that was causing the car to stall easily.

I spoke with Luke immediately but was assured that it was as it should be, that it had been driven by him and there was no problem, and that besides it was a hydraulic clutch and there was no adjustment.

We managed through the winter with it but with a trip to Scotland coming up we took it today to the local Skoda garage who have told us the Clutch needs complete replacement. The cost will be £940.

I rang Luke to see what the situation was regarding the guarantee and whether they would be able to help with the work. His initial response was that the car was out of warranty. When I pointed out that it was a problem that had existed since we first bought the car he said he would have to refer it to his boss. They would be able to discuss it in four days time after the bank holiday.

Whether or not the boss would agree to replacing the clutch under warranty is now not important

After having been assured that the clutch was fine, and that not having a spare tyre was perfectly normal, and the ding in the windscreen, and the tyres close to their legal limit there has been a sufficient erosion of trust that we cannot be certain that the work would be done to a sufficiently high standard, or that we would not be made to feel like fools as we have been throughout.

Skoda, although expensive, will use genuine Skoda parts, guarantee parts for 2 years, workmanship for 12 months and are 8 miles down the road.

Coopers are 3 hours away and have failed to establish themselves as credible or trustworthy.

In case anyone is wondering, the tread on the three remaining tyres (one got binned after the puncture) is 4mm, 3.2mm and 3mm, all of which are an MOT pass, but the legal minimum is 1.6mm and a brand new tyre will have 9mm.

These tyres at the time of sale were between 5mm and 6mm further away from being new, and between 2.4mm and and 1.4mm close to being illegal.

If we had paid a lower price or bought privately knowing these issues before hand there would be no cause for complaint, but we paid market price from a dealer who assured us (and continued to assure us after we had problems) that the car was in good order.

I haven't expressed any opinions, just facts, and the dealership are welcome to respond, but as far as we are concerned the matter is closed.
