I lost my Chewbacca on the 9th August

I lost my Chewbacca on the 9th August, when I rang to organise the cremation the gentleman on the phone explained what the next steps will be and Chewie should be home in 7-10days. After waiting nearly 2 weeks I rang to see what was happing only to be told in a flippant way that my dog wasn't picked up from the vets as the paperwork wasn't done!! She also said that we go twice a week to that vets and he wasn't picked up on the 2nd visit either then?? I was too upset to go any deeper in the conversation but she made my Chewie seem like lost luggage not my beautiful boy! I'm so upset that no-one had the decently to ring and explain and 3 weeks on I'm still waiting for my boy!! Quick enough to take the money but no feedback! Thanks for the terrible upsetting experience of losing my boy

Dear Jane
Thank you for your feedback and we can only apologise that you feel that our service is less than expected.
As explained, we will return ashes within 7-10 working days from receipt of your pet, and unfortunately we are only able to collect pets which have been documented and released to us by the veterinary practice, so if there is a delay in releasing your pet to us, this will delay the return of ashes.
Unfortunately, we are unable to call each pet parent to advise that your pet has been released to us as majority of our collections occur over night, so the office team routinely would not be aware of their arrival until after the cremation has taken place, the only exception to this would be when an attending has been organised as this alters the arrival process.
We are genuinely sorry for causing any additional upset.
Kind regards

That extra touch...

After still being extremely upset of my fur baby's passing on the 6th June. 2 months later on the 7th August, I lost my other beautiful cat Sophie at 23 years old. My veterinary practice sorted my princesses cremation. I received a phone call to say the urn I had chosen was out of stock. I honestly just wanted my baby back so said as long as the urn had little paw prints on it I wasn't too bothered. The replacement I have received is absolutely beautiful. A taller urn placed within a velvet box!! Just stunning. That obvious extra little touch due to not having the urn I originally chose. I'm more than happy with the replacement. My princess tippy toes truly is a princess now. I can't thank them enough ❤️.

Preston - our beautiful big boy

Our beautiful chocolate lab, Preston, died at home in his sleep on Sun 11 Aug. We rang the CPC the next day and spoke to a friendly, sympathetic lady adviser who arranged for Preston to be collected from us in the Orwell. Andrew arrived in his Petrest van and soon collected Preston advising that he would return Preston’s ashes on Wed. This so happened and Andrew was very comforting in his whole manner. We now have Preston back home with us, his ashes in a mahogany casket with his name on a brass plate. We can not fault Petrest’s excellent and compassionate service provided at such a difficult time for us.

On the 19th of July my beautiful pug…

On the 19th of July my beautiful pug daisy had to be put to sleep the vets (pdsa) were amazing told me my baby would arrive at the crematorium on the following Monday ect on the Monday I contacted the crematorium in Tewksbury to arrange my very first funeral I didn’t have a clue what I was doing but my vet assured me cpc would look after me
After arranging my Daisy’s funeral I felt like I had just ordered something from Amazon it was very quick, card details , done , there was no compassion from the lady on the phone it just like no sooner had I paid for the service that was that
By Wednesday (3 days later ) I still hadn’t herd from the crematorium I didn’t know if my girl had arrived or even if she had been cremated so I rang them , and was told that my girl had actually arrived on the Tuesday and still hadn’t been cremated and they didn’t know when she would be …. Maybe that night or next day … that was the end of the call , I was totally shocked and stunned why wasn’t anyone telling me anything …. After a few minutes of thinking I emailed them and asked if someone could message me when my girl had been cremated the reply was , “ sorry were to busy to send you a message when daisy gets cremated , you will know when she was cremated when she comes home “
I was just horrified at the response so I waited then on Friday night I got a message to say daisy was going to be returned on the Monday so I knew she had been cremated by the delivery company and not cpc them selfs , I then had the agonising wait untill Monday for my girl to come home to find out when she was actually cremated
Monday morning the deliver driver arrives swinging my package ( Daisy’s ashes ) as he walked up my drive, horrified I took the package off him which clearly labels there was pets ashes in the box and to handle with care
On Monday evening I contacted cpc complaints and let them know how disappointed I was in the service I received and the lady said she would listen to the 2 short phone calls I made to them and would read the 2 emails I sent them and she would get back to me , this was 2 weeks ago and I’ve had no response from them at all , I suspect once they see this review they will make contact ,
In my personal opinion I DONOT recommend this company for you pet burial

Dear Nicola

Thank you for your feedback.

After reviewing the emails and listening to the calls, I am very sorry that you felt that the initial call was too quick, but our adviser was kind and tried to make arrangements as easy as possible for you.

It is not procedure to notify owners of their pets arrival as pets can arrive in the very early hours of the morning, or in the very late hours, so we do not provide this information. We do advise that all ashes will be returned within 10 working days.

We have also responded to every email which has been sent.

However, we did not at any point say we were "too busy" to advise you of Daisy's cremation dates and times - the email sent to you after your enquiry was:

Good morning,
Due to our staff working 24 hours a day we do not have a specific time for the cremations.
Those dates and times are provided to us once your pet is ready to leave us.
We aim to cremate within 48hours of Daisy's arrival with us and there will be a condolence card returned with her ashes that will have the date of Daisy’s cremation.
Kind regards,

I understand that losing a pet is a very upsetting and stressful time and we apologise to you that you felt that our service we provided was less than expected, this is not at all how we would want any pet owner to feel.

With regards to the third party courier we use, I can only apologise for their conduct and this feedback will be given to them. We do try to make them aware as possible that the contents are of a precious nature, so this is very disappointing to hear.

We have sent multiple emails to yourself, so if you wish to speak directly to our Head of Customer Care, please email lauren.billman@cpccares.com.

Kind regards

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible, I lost my beautiful basset hound Summer it was a terrible time for the whole family 💔 I called this company to look after my dog and arrange everything for me. I had a leaflet from the vets , I did not like the casket that was on the leaflet but the gentleman on the phone said there was only one more to choose from which had a picture in it. So I went for the beech casket. Hand crafted it said. I received my girl home yesterday and the casket was cheap and tacky and the spelling on the plaque was wrong 😑. I called the company spoke to one lady who said they would call me back. The manager called me and she spoke to me dreadfully!!! I was shocked. She said she had listened to the telephone recording and basically called me a liar!!! I asked her if she would send me a recording of the conversation she said no she can’t !!! Because I know 100% what I said and she was the one not telling the truth. She was not nice at all. She knew they were in wrong !! I had my son and mother with me when I made the phone call to arrange Summers cremation. I never made any mistakes. She said she would send me a new plaque which I received today in a envelope no letter no apology NOTHING ‼️. So now I have to chip off the old plaque!! I don’t think so !!! This wasn’t good enough for my baby !! I ended up contacting another company that looked after my other basset hound that passed in 2021. Luckily they still had my details. I have now ordered a new casket from them and when it comes this rubbish will go in the bin!!! These people do not care about you or your pet. They are obviously in it for the money. I still want the recording of the conversation. But I doubt I will get it !! And if they write under my review with a load of lies like they used on the phone don’t believe it!! That’s just covering their backs
AVOID ‼️‼️‼️
They use your grief cover up their mistakes saying you must of been confused!! Absolutely disgusting ‼️‼️

Extremely disappointed

Extremely disappointed. Arranged for the cremation and the return of our beloved cat in a casket via our vets. His name was misspelled on the box, the date recorded for his cremation was before he had even passed and his ashes were in a black casket when we requested brown. It was absolutely heartbreaking the lack of detail and respect shown.

Dear Kelly

Thank you for your feedback.

I am sorry that your have been left so disappointed by the service received.

I have searched our system for your surname and there is only two pets recording since January with your surname and only one of these was a cat.
From those details, I can see that the information of your pets Identification Card received along with your pet, that the casket selected by your vets was the Black Sleeping Cat casket, but I am sure this was not done intentionally.

However, you reference a spelling error and the incorrect date being put onto the cremation card and this is absolutely unacceptable.
Are you able to email our Head of Customer Care at lauren.billman@cpccares.com (with your pets name as subject line) with images of the errors as so far, we have not been notified by your veterinary practice about these errors to enable us to launch an investigation. The first we have heard about this is your review.

A wonderful place for our beloved pets

Our dog Betty died last week in a terrible and unexpected accident. We are completely devastated. A vet recommended CPC and we will always be grateful that he did. Our dog was cremated at the branch in Cambridge. Reuben and Vivien who work there couldn't have been kinder or more caring when we needed it the most. They talked us through everything, listened and checked all the way through the process that we hadn't or had changed out minds about every tiny detail. They made sure that we had everything that we needed. In our darkest hour they showed us hope, love and light. We can't thank them enough or recommend them highly enough. Betty was shown the dignity and love that she deserve and we could never ask for more than that. From the bottom of our hearts thank you.

Terrible Delivery

I was advised I would receive a txt message regarding my pets ashes and when tbey would be delivered back to me , CPC have used DHL many times I found the service extremely reliable keeping me up to date on the return of my pet , however CPC is for some reason now using APC ... my pet was delivered back to me at 7.38am and at 3.15pm I then received a txt to say my pet would be arrived today ?? APC in my opinion is the worst unsympathetic and untrustworthy, for the price of the private cremation I really did expect better .

Dear Zoe

Thank you for your review of APC. Unfortunately we are only able to use two couriers for returning ashes and certain areas have been withdrawn from our other courier, so we are left with only one option.
I’m sorry that you found their service terrible and this has reflected poorly on CPC in your eyes.
Do you feel that the service prior to delivery from CPC was poor? We certainly hope not and we can only apologise that the courier undid all of the positive and caring work we provided.
We will be sure to pass this feedback onto APC.
We are just pleased your pet is home where they belong.

Amazing goodbye to our boy Blue

Everything from telephone assistance (with organising our boy Blue's cremation date/time/pickup from the vet) was made simple.

Then on arrival and during the time, Reuben at CPC made us all feel at ease and gave us the time required and was compassionate throughout our time there.

Will certainly remember our goodbye and recommend to others when trying to give their family member the send off they need.

During the saddest time of our lives CPC ensured that our dog Blue was in the best hands. We had him back in our home within 2 weeks and he arrived so well packaged.

I have been waiting over two weeks now…all

I have been waiting over two weeks now for my beloved rottweiler Hamlets Ashes. I am constantly ringing but never any answer. I left 6 messages last week. No one got back to me. It is distressing enough to loose your loved one but then for him to just have disappeared. I paid for individual cremation but I'm not sure if thats the case now as maybe you put them all together. I am very depressed and i feel ive lost him all over again each day I'm hoping he's coming home. I revieved an email saying a courier would brimg him when i want to know. When. It cant take that long surely.

Hi Margaret

Thank you for your review however, without further details we are unable to comment.

Did you come to us directly of via a veterinary practice?

We always advise, as per process, that return of ashes can take up to 10 working days, so depending on when we received Hamlet, the ashes would be returned within 10 working days from him arriving with us.

If you are able to email rebecca.horton@cpccares.com with your full name, contact number, location and veterinary practice used we will be able to assist you.

With regards to not being able to get through to our lines, please can you advise which number you are calling as our advisers are speaking with pet owners all day 8.30-5pm Monday - Friday, and 8.30-3pm on Saturdays so not to have received a call back after leaving 6 messages is incredibly surprising to read. Please do provide your contact details so that we can contact you as this information may not have been left in your messages.

We are so sorry for your loss and that you feel that CPC have in anyway made your loss harder. This would never be our intention.

Kind regards

Apparently this doesn’t happen - reviews may say otherwise

Received my cat back today in opened packaging left on the doorstep for me to nearly stand on as he had been delivered to the wrong address - so the 1st person to hold my cat again was a complete stranger. As if his loss wasn’t bad enough he doesn’t even come home to the correct address, although the paperwork was correct. We were told who he was delivered to and even this was a lie as we know the person at that address, and they would have never opened package not for them and the picture does not even match their door. As if the heartbreak of losing him wasn’t bad enough - but on a plus side when i phoned to book his cremation I was told he has a good name for a cat (not even past tense) - that made me feel a whole lot better with his loss.

CPC Livingstone Branch

We lost our beloved little cat Fudge suddenly and unexpectedly last week. The out of hours vets, Vets Now in Glasgow gave us details of CPC Cares in Livingston should we like to cremate her. I spoke / sobbed to Sharon on the phone, who was incredibly kind and helped guide us. As Fudge passed so suddenly, we wanted to see her again before she was cremated, to spend some time with her and to get a couple of little paw prints as keepsakes. Sharon made the necessary arrangements and was incredibly compassionate, she went above and beyond to give us advice. On the day of cremation, when we got to see Fudge beforehand, the team at CPC had done an amazing job with Fudge, they had her wrapped in her favourite blanket, looking like she was simply curled up asleep. We got to add some pictures, a little note, some treats, and her favourite toy to go with her for the cremation. During an incredibly difficult time, their kindness and compassion helped immensely. Yvonne had at our request made an imprint of Fudges paw for us before we arrived and was extremely supportive.

It isn’t often you encounter people who are perfectly suited for the job they are doing, who truly care. Sharon, Yvonne and April are those people and we’ll be eternally indebted to them for their kindness and for taking such care of our precious girl. We have her home now, in a beautiful little casket.

To all the team at CPC in Livingston, but especially, Sharon, Yvonne and April, thank you.

Caring and compassionate

Buddy was a husky/German shepherd cross who recently passed away suddenly and traumatically. Our vet explained that he would be taken to
CPC Cambridge and that we would have the opportunity to attend his cremation. CPC contacted us once he was with them and an emotional conversation was handled with care and consideration by Reuben. Everything was explained to us and a date for the cremation arranged.
On the day we arrived we were met by Vivian who explained how we would say goodbye to Buddy. Vivian was kind, considerate and empathetic and handled a delicate and potentially difficult situation with care and compassion. Everything had been thought of, even to the extent of where we could go locally to wait until we could bring Buddy home.
We were able to spend precious time with Buddy to say our goodbyes. He looked peaceful and calm and this brought us great comfort.
Although we are still heartbroken and know that the grieving process will take time, attending Buddy’s cremation and the way we were supported by all at CPC will definitely help us throughout this journey. We would highly recommend CPC to anyone in this situation.
