good material
EDIT: After inspection of my conscience, I realize that I wasn'lucid when I wrote the review down below, please note that Russell is very nice to build such material so that vintage motorbikes can live again.
I Send you my apologies M. Brown, and I hope you a long carrer, thank you for building such goods.
Warning of fraud and amateurism
I purchased a 1984 Honda CR clutch cover manufactured by Mr. Russell Brown from his website.
Despite a good initiative for bikers and a good general manufacturing job, I have to warn other buyers about the scam you are likely to suffer:
1) I have received a model presenting major RISKS OF GEARBOX BREAK.
While I was expecting a REPLICA as advertised on the site for sale, I noticed that the water leak inspection hole was missing at the bottom right of the crankcase, when you look at it from the front.
This hole is as a witness in the event that the water seal leaks, which is intended to prevent gearbox break.
After investigating its dealers in France, I had confirmation that ALL 1984 honda cr 125 housings sold on this site are housings WITHOUT this hole.
N.B .: The hole is nevertheless present in the photos of this same casing on its website.
After contacting the site by email to understand if it was an oversight and that he could correct his error, it replied that it was not an error and that he was aware of this absence, and justified himself as follows:
"I used a model from the 1986 Honda CR125 clutch housing to make the 1984 model.
It's a huge amount of work if I had to stick to the patterns each year.
I failed to make this hole.
If you're not happy, send the sump back to me. Otherwise keep it like that. "
After opening a paypal dispute, he justified himself:
"I just wanted to help people by making 1984 casings from the 86 model, I didn't manage to make the inspection hole, I didn't make a mistake, you are the only person Complaining, send the case back to me and I will reimburse you for part of the return costs "
In view of his behavior of guilt and swindler described above, I do not even dare to imagine what would have happened if I had sent the casing without involving paypal as he proposed to me: "send me back the crankcase, and I will reimburse you AFTER RECEIPT of the full price of the crankcase + shipping costs ".
Luckily I opened a paypal dispute which kept me safe from dealing straightly with this company by email.
2) The site does not display shop policies, and when I asked it it refused to send it to me. So I couldn't find out whether the price he gave me included customs fees or not.
Following my order, I received a CUSTOMS CLEARANCE INVOICE of 59 € to pay to be able to obtain my package without having been warned of such a probability.
Hope my review inspires this business to improve.
I leave my opinion as long as the site is not modified by specifying that it is about sale of incomplete copies and not of replicas.
Yann
