To whom it may concern,
Last January 2025, we took a trip on the Norwegian Viva cruise through the Caribbean (9 adults in total), eager to spend a few wonderful days with our family. From the first day, we realized that what was offered on this supposedly 5-star cruise, as they often call it, would not be what it was. The first night, upon visiting the formal dining room, we found that the quality of the food was not the best. For example, the fish available was tilapia; anyone who knows anything about fish knows what I'm talking about. When we asked if they had any other type of fish, they told us they did not and that that would be the fish available every night. The next day, we went to the general dining room and found it unsanitary. They only had one sink at the entrance to the dining room for everyone to clean their hands. The food, like the night before, was very poor quality, both at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On the third day, we started getting sick from various causes. To make a long story short, eight of us in the family got sick. In my case, I contracted influenza A, losing 17 pounds. Others got sick from mycoplasma, COVID, stomach problems, and more. The long-awaited disembarkation day arrived, and what a surprise it was, starting with a rushed departure due to the poor facilities at the port of San Juan. My 87-year-old mother, who had been ill since the ship, collapsed due to the long wait for departure, and there was no first-response assistance on site, either from Norwegian or the port. Thanks to a woman (a ship passenger) who had basic knowledge, she was able to stabilize her. We called 911, and it took them about an hour to arrive due to heavy traffic to access the port so they could assist her and take her to an emergency room. During the long wait, an employee told us that the port had been without an ambulance and first aid personnel for over a year. Based on this experience, this was my first and last trip with this cruise line, and it's worth noting that we've taken many trips of this type in our lives. But this cruise was the worst. If anyone wants to live an experience like ours, we recommend "NORWEGIAN VIVA, HELL ON THE HIGH SEAS."

Coverups

This company, I believe are fakes. According to my recent experience with them, and in my opinion, they appear to cover up negative reviews of cruise company’s. I attempted to leave a review of my recent experience, and they have been very rude with their excuse for not publishing my comment. All these companies appear to be in each others back pockets. Disgusting. I had a valid review, how dare you tell me it’s not appropriate. Looking after each other I see! Not your clients, you looking after yourselves.

To add, I would not believe any review left on their site. They cherry pick the reviews they want displayed on their site, at least from what I have experienced.

Bad start to Ambition cruise

Cruise aboard Ambition Ambassador from Liverpool on July 24 got off to a bad start. On entering our cabin we found poo and other stains on the toilet lid. Reception sent cleaner but apparently some toilet seats aboard have seen better days. Contacted Ambassador afterwards about this housekeeping incident that took the shine off our cruise but no response

Awful cookies!!

Every time you click on a page the cookie consent pops up - why?? It is extremely annoying so why can’t they set it up so that once you’re on their website and make your cookie choice, it knows this and doesn’t keep asking for consent?

Joke of a Site

Just left Cruise Critic after using for years because they classed one of post as offensive. The subject which had been talked about before id Evac Chairs and people complaining they have to have one even though they can walk short distances. At now time did i use any offense language or abuse anyone simply making the point these safety evac rules are put in place for everyone's safety and if anyone who has any kind of Mobility Issue thinks they will be able to walk down a set of stairs like normal in a evacuation it will be different with hundreds of people using those stairs at same time and anybody with Mobility Issue will be putting themselves in Danger and everybody else. And this is what Cruise Critic consider offensive thinking and talking about safety but others freely talk about NOT having to do this on other cruise companies just P&O Useless unless you fit the demographic of the people they want to post. I will also point out if you are reading this review of mine before using this site it is full of a load of waffle people posting THERE personal opinions Nothing else you can ask one simple question which requires a simple answer and you will get between 10/20 answers many Nothing to do with the original question but people telling you to do the same as them. And if you are Disabled like me NEVER complain about anything Not being Right when in my case was P&O Britannia that they state is Wheelchair Adaptive your opinion means Nothing to the carers of other Wheelchair Users as they will state they don't have a problem with it so you shouldn't though i did notice very few Disabled people actually post replies it's ALWAYS those experts that push those wheelchairs. I have been complimented i couldn't guess how many times i have been complimented on my being so Independent since having a Leg Amputated but if i make a comment that something is not Right on a P&O ship i travel on as a Solo Passenger i am ALWAY told by the know all carers that i should not be travelling alone. The same as everything else on this site 'personal opinions of others' The ONLY place anybody had ever said i need a carer while people from all walks of life compliment me on being so independent all they compliments must be wrong cause somebody's carer on Cruise Critic says i need one of them. Yes you may find a answer to a question you want help with but you will have to sift through all the personal opinions of others.

Every price advertised on Cruisecritic is fake,I viewed multiple cruises and all prices are like a decoy to attract you at a glance, then the price is the triple.

MYMOMENTS#CostaSerena

MYMOMENTS:

My first cruise experience aboard the Costa Serena surpassed all expectations! Despite some pre-warned criticisms, I found the journey to be nothing short of exceptional.

From the moment i stepped onboard, the seamless organization was evident. The daily activities catered to all ages, offering a plethora of options including dancing, aqua aerobics, workshops, and games. With 15 or 16 restaurants to choose from, the culinary offerings were outstanding. From the two all-time dining restaurants to the various paid options, the diverse menus ensured there was something for everyone. The prices were reasonable, and the different drink packages provided flexibility.

Arriving in Phuket was a highlight of the trip. We were granted ample time to explore the city, with the option to embark on excursions. We opted for a 4-hour tour led by the delightful guide, EK. His knowledge, humor, and helpfulness made the experience unforgettable as we visited different temple sites and had the opportunity to purchase snacks and souvenirs.

Evenings onboard were equally memorable, with live concerts and aerobatics performances that left us in awe. The dedication of the Captain, cruise GM, officers, and staff was evident throughout the journey. Their kindness and helpfulness truly enhanced the overall experience.

In conclusion, my first cruise experience was beyond enjoyable. Despite initial apprehensions fueled by pre-existing criticisms, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service, entertainment, and overall atmosphere aboard the Costa Serena.

Ambassador cruises ship ambition

Ship ambition
Boarding and disembarkation fast and fault less
Entertainment main shows excellant as were bands
Other entertainment quizes etc typical cruise games
The one thing they need to sort out is the cavern is next to cabins on deck 7 and 8 and they need to turn the volume down as this can be heard in cabins till after 11pm
Food very good not gourmet quality but you would struggle not to find anything you liked
Cream teas were very good selection of sweets poor and repetive ie different bits of coloured sponge each day jelly in glass bowl
Cabins we were inside adequate size mattresses need upgrading and air conditioning did not work properly either too hot or too cold this is a common complaint on these ships
Bathroom. Small and adequate always plenty hot water
Tv is a complete waste of time no channels on here
Excursions and trips expensive for what they were if you can do your homework you can do some of the trips yourselves alot cheaper
Bar prices slightly dearer than pub prices at home but not excessive
The cruise company charges £6 a day tips each which I think is to expensive they beed to put this into cruise price and pay there staff a decent wage like PO and Marella however you can adjust this at reception
The staff on board were very good friendly proffessiobal
Deck area has seats sun loungers chairs small pools hot tub very small to swim in and some of the sun longers are shabby considering this was only the fourth cruise for this ship I thought they might have fitted everything new ie sun loungers mattrasses
The weather and sea conditions were very good on this cruise which made it if it had been wet and windy it would have been a nightmare
One thing when going up to the artic the ship could have warned us about artic mosquitoes I put repellant on in the likes of India morrocco did not realise they ere a problem in the artic
The passengers on the ship are all elderly and there was alot of coughing sneezing going on and I have bought a cold back
Would I go on this ship again possibly depending on price and itinary

Cruise Critic moderators too biased

Cruise Critic appoints a moderator for their boards/fora. These individual moderators have too much biased power, which is frequently misused. They delete stuff unilaterally and questioning any decision results in sanctions or suspension.
Generally, though, there can be useful dissemination of information, but the Nazis lurking in the background do not make for a liberal environment for discussion.
Plus: there are many whose too-frequent comments contribute nothing to the discussion, or provide completely misleading or totally incorrect information. Many such individuals behave as if Cruise Critic is their private fiefdom and treat others with arrogant contempt.
It's a curate's egg. Good in parts, but too biased.

I made the effort to write a review in…

I made the effort to write a review in order to warn other future passengers of Regal Princess by informing them of all the thefts in my cabin. In spite of detailed description and rating of all the categories they request on their site, they refused several times with contradictory arguments to publish my review. I guess that they have cruise companies among their shareholders and thus a major interest only to publish positive ratings. It seems obvious that this site isn't trustworth and impartial.

Brilliance of the seas…….tired old ship…

Brilliance of the seas…….tired old ship , tired short staffed and untrained barmen, cleaners and main dining room waiters. Food lukewarm, small portions and tasteless. High proportion of staff with limited English or just uninterested. Many of bars ran out of specific wine or beers and queues everywhere for drinks.
Switch of departure from Venice to navenna an absolute joke involving a 3 hour journey both ways to arrive at a few metals huts. .

Not so critical

Took the time and energy to write a fairly detailed and impartial review of a recent cruise. Hasnt made it to their website. Nothing controversial that I can think of but I obviously said something that they didnt like. Given they advertise cruises on their site you do wonder how impartial they really are. Not very from my experience. Their rating on here speaks volumes.

It is tentative times for the multi $billion cruise industry. Yes we had Covid on board but that was almost expected. The cruise itself wasnt up to the usual standards. Staffing seemed to be a problem and we were 1000 guests short. Everyone wants to see things get back to normal but some honest decent impartial reviews wont go amiss.

I have always tended to read reviews but in recent years I have gleaned more valuable information from fellow cruisers. Websites such as cruisecritic should tell it as it is as with accommodation reviews and if they cant well just shut up shop although thats unlikely.

Just returned from a cruise to nowhere…

Just returned from a cruise to nowhere with Virgin Cruises Valiant Lady. Madrid port cancelled. Shows cancelled. No sunbeds available and it wasn't a full ship. Run out of certain drinks and food. Lack of hygiene onboard, half ship ended up with Covid. MUST HAVE android mobile as everything done is through an App (that is if you can get onto it without it buffering all the time, more offline than online. Jacuzzi not working just hot water. Pool you can only swim x4 strokes in. Hardly any daytime activities. Restaurants and exercise classes were all fully booked unable to get in any.

My Father who is 85 years old

My Father who is 85 years old, booked a cruise through you which was for last year. When the pandemic flooded the UK, he cancelled the trip just before lockdown. Since then he has tried on many occasions to get a refund but to no avail. The person he is dealing with just keeps telling him to book another cruise or lose his money.
Since booking the cruise my fathers health has deteriorated, which he has explained but still no offer of a refund. Although he may have cancelled the cruise a few days before lockdown, as like many elderly people, he was panicked by the severity of the pandemic. Whilst I appreciate they must be dealing with many cancellations and alterations to bookings, I strongly feel that my Father hasn't received the understanding that he deserves and has been taken advantage of because of his age.
