I’ve just completed the 5-day SMSTS training course with CST Training in London and found the whole experience very positive.

The assessor, Rodger Pitt, was clear and professional in delivering the necessary information throughout the week. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the topics in a way that was easy to understand and relate to real-life situations on site.

The course was well structured, informative and engaging, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss experiences from within the construction industry. Rodger created a relaxed learning environment while still ensuring that all of the important areas required for the SMSTS qualification were covered.

I would definitely recommend CST Training to anyone looking to complete their SMSTS, and I’d like to thank Rodger for his time, knowledge and guidance throughout the week.

Good online training company, did the SMSTS course over 5 weeks so one day a week, not the same tutor each week but overall worked well although intense as reliant on being online all day.

Good SMSTS course, delivered by knowledgeable, engaging and sometimes funny trainer. By chance- I was in a good class of 11 students.

Excellent guidance for 1st interview, looking forward to completing course with a little more confidence.

I recently attended the SMSTS course delivered by CST Training, and I would like to commend Steve Lane, who was an excellent instructor throughout the programme. Steve was highly motivated, knowledgeable, engaging, and informative. He provided clear guidance on how the course would run and did a great job of easing any concerns regarding the final examination. His experience and delivery style helped maintain engagement and made complex topics easier to understand.

While the quality of instruction was outstanding, I believe the overall course structure could be improved.

The first day felt like an overload of information, with much of the content consisting of reading directly from the course manual. The training days were also very long, running from 8:00am until 4:30pm, followed by an additional one to two hours of study and coursework at home. This made for some extremely demanding days.

By the middle of the week, it felt as though the core learning objectives had largely been completed. The remaining time appeared to be filled with a tabletop exercise which, in my opinion, was not particularly realistic or necessary. As a result, parts of the latter half of the course felt less productive.

My biggest concern was the timing of the final examination. Sitting the exam at 3:30pm on the final day is, in my view, far too late. By that point, students have already completed several full days of intensive learning and are naturally beginning to feel fatigued. I believe the examination would be better scheduled for late morning, allowing candidates to sit it when they are more focused and alert.

Overall, the instruction provided by Steve Lane was first-class and I cannot fault his delivery. However, I feel the course structure could be streamlined and completed effectively within three to four days, with the examination scheduled earlier in the day. This would improve the overall learning experience and help students perform at their best.

The instructor was amazing on explaining and give all the resources for the exam.

Really good online course, teacher Stephen Kaged was fantastic.

The tutor was very knowledgeable and put information across so you could understand him.He also helped with using bookmarks etc while going through the citb e-book.
I'm not the greatest on computers but managed ok.

Easy to book the course, the tutor made the whole group feel at ease.
We covered a lot of material in the five days yet still managed to have banter and camaraderie with all involved.

Frank conducted the course so well. It is a lot of information to take in 2 days but Frank made it incredibly easy to absorb all the information.

Amazing experience from start to finish, my lecturers Matthew Ford, Asten Haynes & Stephen Rodgers were highly professional & have taught me to a high standard throughout all of the different elements, provided great exam tips, were very friendly and offered sound advice, I would highly recommend CST for a training provider, they are fantastic, the course is very intense I must admit, but our lecturers constantly got us involved & we had lots of opportunities to speak and share about our own construction backgrounds & there were plenty of breaks in between intervals which certainly helped!
A big shoutout to everyone in my group as well, they were all very friendly, knowledgeable & i have learned a lot from these highly professional individuals. I wish them & everyone at CST all the best for the future.

I completed the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management with CST Training. Sandra was an amazing tutor and helped me throughout. The process of completing my qualification was very smooth and any queries I had were answered promptly. Couldn’t recommend CST Training and Sandra any higher!
