Surprised to see so many negative…

Surprised to see so many negative reviews. I have recently completed on the sale of one property and purchase of another, with two different branches of Clee - Carmarthen and Pontardawe. I have been surprised and impressed by the level of service from both offices. There has been regular communication, which has been friendly and supportive and an enterprising suggestion led to my purchase of a property which I hadn't even considered. I wouldn't hesitate to use CTF again, or to recommend them.

Port Talbot branch - don’t do it!!!!

I will never recommend this company to anyone! Made the whole process 10x more stressful than it needed to be. We had a range of problems with them. The first put the price on the market £5k cheaper than we wanted. Their photos were absolutely horrendous - made the house look so small and dark. In the end, we took our own photos and asked them to place these on our listing. The ‘for sale’ sign for over a week after the listing went live.
The Port Talbot branch manager, Nicola, we found very rude and condescending. I don’t think they know what customer service is. It actually seemed on times as though the person buying our house was paying them, instead of us! That’s how I felt we were treated. Every time I would see their number as an incoming call, I would feel nothing but dread!
We will never EVER go with this company again.
So relieved the whole process is over and I don’t have any more contact with them.

Dreadful Morriston branch

Dreadful Morriston branch. Sharp practice. Continued viewings on a house after we agreed an offer without informing us. Allowed us to drive 5 hours each way for a second viewing to resolve a boundary issue. They did not follow up on this viewing but then accepted a new offer from another party and then asked us to increase our offer behind the back of the new person. Avoid.

Currently on with this agent

Currently on with this agent. Very little communication from them. Always seem to be chasing them to confirm appointments and zero feedback from viewings.
On the plus side, agent always on time and positive.

Appointed Clee & Tompkinson Francis …

Appointed Clee & Tompkinson Francis (Crickhowell) to represent us in land compensation regarding the A465 Heads of the Valley road scheme several years ago. When we enquired about progress it appeared they had lost our application ( we still had letter as proof it had been submitted) so they asked to resubmit the paperwork which we did back 12 months they acknowledged receipt.
A year has passed and still no communication from Clee & Tompkinson, so decided it was time to get an update on progress, they have not responded to e-mails or to the online query form to contact us regarding the progress.
Poor communication (well actually none), fe up of chasing them.
We have now appointed a new agent to represent us and he has done more in 2 weeks that Clee & Thompkinson has done in year (not hard really)
If they are representing you in a land compensation claim you might want to think about appointing someone else

Great company

Great company. I had my house for sale with another estate agent for 9 months with very little success. I then went to Clee in Morrisons. My house went on the market on a Friday and received a full asking price offer 5 days later. . Darlene was amazing at keeping me updated and chasing things through. Would highly recommend

Clee Tompkinson & Francis. Dealing need to be doubled checked

Can't believe this company is getting worse.

In 2019 I bought my first house in Wales, Neath Road, In Neath, West Glamorgan, from Clee Estate Agents. The service was faultless. This was to be the beginning of my welsh portfolio and so as Clee had a property management company it appeared to be logical to keep it in house. My portfolio expanded.

With regards to this property, the letting management had worked very well.

That was until my latest tenant moved out. The outward inspection appeared to indicate all was well. That was until I inspected this property. There were many discrepancies between what was reported and what I saw.
Wardrobe doors broken, a six month carpet covered in stains, to which I was to learn later the tenants, not having a gas cooker were cooking on the floor in the lounge. This needed to be replaced. The property was dirty and the garden was overgrown.

When I inspected the property the first thing I noticed was there was no for rent signs outside, to which I advised Clee, no response.
Then I commented on the state of the carpet and front garden. The state of how dirty the property was.

Clee refused to accept ant action concerning the garden. They hadn’t commented on this on their report and there were no photographs. Though gardens were covered under the terms of the tenancy agreement.

I cut the the front lawn, cleaned the house and had the six month old carpet replaced.

Clee advised me they had a prospective gentleman interested in the property. The only problem was the information he supplied did not check out and I asked Clee to move on. Second reminder no for rent sign up.

Then Clee advise me they were suspending this property. 1, dampness in the kitchen and 2, the state of the garden.

The house had been shut up for weeks now and all the windows were closed and no heating was on. This was after all November / December. Simply putting on the heating and opening a window slightly, resolved this so called dampness.
As for the garden, Clee failed to photograph or record the state of the garden, since 2019 and now it became an issue, because I made a claim, having cut the grass and cleared the dog mess up.

Clee response was to put this property on hold on the 18th Dec 23 and then advised me the property had been withdrawn on the 3rd January 24.

On being advised the property had been withdrawn I informed Clee I no longer required their services and I would like the keys to be returned to me. A week later I had to remind them I had not received the keys.
They then claim they sent the keys back to me on the 17th Jan 24.
We received an envelope from the postman, who wanted us to sign for. However the envelope was empty and we refused. It looked like a bunch of keys had simply been placed in the envelope, they hadn’t been wrapped in bubble wrap or card. The post man the said it would be returned, the only problem was there was no return address on the envelope.
Not the best way of sending keys through the post. Something I have been doing for years, without any loss to date.

Clee wasn’t interested in the loss of keys. I advised them I would need to travel to the property to replace the lock. They couldn’t care less, as far as they were concerned it wasn’t their problem.
This then resulted in having to travel to the property 150 miles away and replace the lock.

Since then another managing agent has been appointed and I have been advised there would be no problem in finding a new tenant.

Past bad experiences with Clee
Clee decided to employ a gentleman who found me a tenant for one of my other properties. What I was not informed at the time was there were outstanding CCJs on this person and the references were not properly checked. After not receiving rent for over six months I requested a section 21 to be issued, It took Clee weeks to issue this and what they did issue was wrong. Instead of three months it was for nearly five months. When I finally got the tenant out I would estimate my loss at about 15K. This gentleman now no longer works for Clee and a replacement was found. Thought all this the managing agent manager was very supportive, but there was nothing more she could do. Since then she has decided to leave the company as did her replacement. This resulted in me removing three of my properties from Clee.

On another property I instructed Clee in full management, eventually they found me tenants. However there charges were to say in the least excessive.
Our contract for finding a tenant was £250 and 8% management charge, because I now had quite a few properties with Clee. Clee deducted £450 and 10%, lucky I spotted this.
I wanted to move one tenant from one property into another. This property had already an agreement with as above. Once again Clee decided to try to increase their fees. Again £450 and 15%

Travelled 6 hours to view a house only…

Travelled 6 hours to view a house only to recieve a txt message to let me know due to sickness (on a saturday morning) that our viewings had been cancelled. Tried calling the office several times - no answer!
They called me monday morning to see if we could pop back to view the houses...'pop 6 hours back' when I told them that we lived so far and couldn't because of the time it takes and told them I wasn't happy about this - she didn't even apologise!
I was informed that only 1 member of staff works on a saturday...on the busiest day of the week? Absolute joke! Zero attention to detail, zero response when you call or email the office! Dreadful experience!

Brilliant, personal service

We went with CTF to sell our property because their assessment of the property value seemed to be grounded in good understanding of the local economy. Turns out they were spot on and the property sold at the full asking price within a couple of weeks.

While we were going through the selling process, the team were always there to help in any way they could. The whole team were always able to access information about the status of the sale so anyone we spoke to could answer our questions or help move things forward. Any communication between ourselves and the buyers was passed on immediately so there were no delays. Absolutely brilliant service all round! Highly recommended.

Poor customer service

Me and my girlfriend viewed a property in whitland, Carmarthenshire and was not inform at the viewing that there was a holding fee of £100. The estate agent contacted my girlfriend whilst we were dealing with family issues, stating that she had to pay £100, as I was in work she was unsure of what to do and paid the £100. Due to family circamstances we were unable to to move to this property, we have received abysmal customer service throughout the process and money has not been refunded.
I would also like to note that we have only dealt with one person, during the viewing of the property and the entire process has been through an online website that seems to be faulty.

Recent sale of property

I recently sold my house with Clee and I was really pleased with the way they conducted everything from start to finish. The staff were very helpful and supportive throughout. I had previously contacted other estate agents but was most impressed with Clee so I'm glad I waited. I would definitely use them again.

I sold my house with CTF.

I sold my house with CTF.. we completed today.
The team at Pontardawe (Carol and Ryan) were superb from start to finish, they were always very professional and on hand to support every aspect of the journey.
I can highly recommend them.

I have been renting a property…

I have been renting a property from clee thompson and francis for 9 months.When we moved in we had flooding after 2 days.We have had to have builders back and fore many times in the 9 months as well as inspections etc.This house as been the worst house i have ever private rented.We have had 9 months of hell.The house will be prohibited in the next 2 weeks as enviromental health as been here twice and said today it will be prohibited.The girls have done the best they can for us,but i do believe they should be checking the properties out a lot more before renting them to families such as us.My daughter suffers feom asthma and we should never have been allowed to rent this in the first place.Although we have an agreement for the last few months not to pay the rent, and some other months in between we have had discounted rent.We always had to pay the agency fee.A good company wouldn't taken that in the stste this house is in.
I would never rent from Clee thompson and francis or deal with them in anyway again.Even the girls working there inspecting the property couldn't apologise enough.I just don't feel on a whole the company as done enough.

We definitely chose the best...

CTF dealt with the sale of our property during lockdown. Staff were brilliant and helpful, kept us up.to.date and were 100% professional during visits.
Loved their approach to marketing and the floor plans znd they definitely showed our house off to its full potential. So much so, we had an offer from our first viewing!

Pontardawe Branch

They handled sale of my property in Pontardawe - and to be frank there is no-one else I would use. Ryan was professional, friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the house.
Carol...Carol kept a problematic sale on track during a very tough time (COVID). Always on the ball, always keeping us updated - chasing buyers and solicitors to make sure all on track. Made a very stressful move much easier. If you want to sell your house in this area, don't look elsewhere, you'd be wasting your time. Oh - just to add, Rebecca (now sadly left) was also excellent - had done a lot of homework prior to valuation, came prepared with lots of examples to justify her price - which was spot on. -Gareth (Bronywawr).

Happy to recommend

What should've been a quick, painless service was dragged along somewhat thanks to our Buyer's solicitors.

Jeian at the Llandovery branch did everything possible to get answers and whilst the experience was stressful (beyond belief!) concluded a week before Christmas.

Fees were reasonable and the photo quality of the sales brochure were absolutely superb.
