Don't Apply!

I applied for a credit card and I got an email saying I was approved. It said I needed to go to local store to confirm my identity, which I did.

A month later nothing. I call and they said now I was not approved even though I got confirmation I was approved. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!!!!

I would give CTFS a -5 stars (as in…

I would give CTFS a -5 stars (as in polar opposite of +5 stars) if I could. Susan was snarky and sarcastic when I phoned in today to close both of my credit card accounts with limits totalling $14,000. This company chose to raise the APR to what should be an illegal (and unethical) 28.99% interest rate. Do the math folks. That’s over $4,000 in annual interest at max credit utilization. They want that. Susan had the nerve to ask why I was closing it at which point I told her not only was I closing the accounts but no longer choosing to spend any of my hard-earned money at any Triangle store. Susan didn’t like that and got snarky when I told her that the new interest rate told me everything I needed to know about their corporation. So I delightfully told her that Greg Hicks will make her annual salary by January 2nd. Susan sarcastically said I was funny then hung up on me. The laugh is on her, because she obviously hasn’t checked Greg Hicks annual salary. Susan needs to wake up and realize she works for an unethical company. And to top it off, my wait was over 10 minutes, which indicates the criminally high interest payments people are paying is not being used to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Poorly operated corporation with substandard products basically ripping people off of their hard-earned money so that fat cats like Greg can do nothing but take that money away from you having not done a damn thing. If they offer you a card in store, say “not only no, but hell no.” In fact, don’t even give these bastards the time of day and don’t shop in their stores. It’s time us hardworking folks quit padding their bank accounts. We have spending power, and there are plenty of ethical companies out there who you can support. If you follow my advice, you’re welcome.

Being ill and how Canadian tire financial attack a disabled person

To anyone, and I mean all. I had two major heart attacks that put me in the ICU for 50-plus days.

In hopes and care of my credit, I reached out to them, trying to explain the challenges I would be facing.

I was in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time, or limited to bed rest. I tried to communicate this out, and without a care and offered zero communication on how we could work this out moving forward.

Without care or concern, It was in its collections on a call once I returned from being hospitalized.

Now, let's talk about who Canadian Tire hired for collection. I explained my situation to them and tried to make payments to ensure the monies owed would be returned,

Unless I pay all we don't care what your health issues are, nor accept a payment plan. The rush was so bad to serve me they sent the statement of claims to the wrong home. Within 45 days, it went to small claims.

This is how the collection agent represented his first words in small claims ." I don't know much about this case, other than he had a heart attack." What a class act this wanna be lawyer was who represented CANADIAN TIRE.

The snowball of this act took away any kind of sympathy from all other creditors. The best part will be karma to those who act and talk rudely and do not care. Don't use Canadian Tire in fear that anyone's health can go and understand being ill and having credit is a time of need, CANADIAN TIRE just doesn't care its all about MONEY

Poor support service

Waited 45 minutes online to get disconnected because the office is closed. What a poor service while it’s been 2 days in a row I’m trying to reach them for an impossible connection between my triangle and Petro cards

Credit card for years but when things chance out of no where...

I had this credit card for years, my husband had an a bad accident. Which caused us to relocate cities. I had to leave my good paying job, and couldn't find a job right away. Was paying what I could afford, which wasn't enough for canadian tire. They charged me $1200 of interest in a matter of 4 months. Then put my card into collections and put my credit at an R9 rating. So if you EVER have a sudden life changing event happen. Just know NEVER depending on this company to help you.

Good riddance

Let's just say this company is a nightmare and made this past year a living hell! Stay away far away! Had this card since 2013 and never missed a payment. 2024 I got into an accident and was out of work until April 2025 without pay. I explained this to them and was threatened with collections. When I started work I immediately started to pay back, but that wasn't good enough. They threatened with putting a lien on my house and served me court papers. I had to get a high interest loan to pay these SOB and finally got them off my back. I will NEVER shop or get another cc from these people again!

Exemplary customer care service, fair business practices

I had an amazing experience with an agent, Killian, who went above and beyond to assist me while showing exemplary patience, understanding, and kindness (qualities that are, unfortunately, rare in customer service today).

Also, at that time I was undergoing brain injury treatment and when some other credit card providers were repeatedly reporting incorrect balances to the credit bureaus, and these errors hurt my credit score due to high utilization rate alone, Canadian Tire Bank was the only institution that stepped in and offered me a credit card at very reasonable rates, unlike some who are predatory loan sharks.

They also assured me that as soon as my score improved, they would be happy to increase my limit, which they did.

I highly recommend it!

Call avoidance by multiple agents

Call avoidance by multiple agents. Seems like they dont want to handle phone calls, doesnt even bother talking to customers about what the issue is. Put you back on queue without a reason or without asking permission. Tone of almost all the agents (3 agents on different calls) Yes I had to call back multiple times because, they either hang up or put you on a very long queue without warning——condescending and unwilling to assist. Seems like they dont like what they are doing.

Canadian Tire deals unethically and…

Canadian Tire deals unethically and unfairly and will pursue any debt to the furthest degree, even when one puts in an approved credit proposal. This is the worst creditor I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Their lawyers and employees are extremely insolent and unpleasant even when trying to come up with a pay schedule. DO NOT TAKE A MASTERCARD FROM THEM.

While shopping at SportCheck the teller…

While shopping at SportCheck the teller offered us a Triangle Credit Card in return we would get a 15% discount. The teller was wonderful but we got declined. I have a very high credit score so I was a little confused but nonetheless didn’t care. I returned home to find a congratulatory email saying I was now approved. I called the number in the email and that’s where the problems started. It became an inquisition. I’ve bought cars with less invasive questions. I told the individual that I didn’t want to answer any more questions and he said fine then your card is canceled. I told him that would be fine by me. My recommendation to anyone is DO NOT APPLY FOR A CREDIT CARD at a till.

No warning new card in the mail lol

I've had no issues with my Canadian tire. Mastercard, until recently, when the system decided to cancel it on me. Because the thought I was having fraudulent activity. The system sent me one card that I was not able to activate. Because there was a supplementary card, I've been waiting 2 and a 1/2 weeks with no credit cards. I am incurring a tons of nsf charges. I have no availability to credit. This is such a slow process. I should have been warned that I was getting a new card that my old one was to be canceled. I was not I did not see or feel that there was any fraudulent activities happening. I'm very disappointed.Who's going to pay all these NSF fees every day I went by the mailbox and still nothing

I would give zero stars if possible

I would give zero stars if possible.

I applied for a Triangle Mastercard based on advice from Credit Karma that I would likely be approved.

I received no email confirmation about my application so I contacted them when I saw that they did a hard inquiry that affected my credit.

They told me my application was denied based on potential fraud and passed this along to the fraud department.

They gave me no opportunity to verify my identity.

I was told I would a receive a call back regarding this “fraud case”.

Nobody returned my call so I followed up one week later.

I have now been told that the application cannot be opened up again, and that I would have to apply again.

I was also told that they cannot tell me the reason my application was denied, and that the last lady who said it was denied for potential fraud lied to me “probably because she just wanted me go away”.

We run a small transportation company and were looking to benefit from the fuel program.

We spend thousands upon thousands of dollars at Canadian tire in a year in Products and services.

I am sad and extremely appalled by how this was handled/not handled.

I would recommend never banking with Canadian tire bank.

Canadian tire has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars because of this terrible experience.

I won’t step into a Canadian Tire Again!

Way to go!!!
