The worst experience ever

It was a horrible experience and the worst ever , the food was terribly disgusting even dogs won’t eat it , and when i asked the restaurant manager for something else as i paid for buffet and there was no buffet unless you pay for it and the food also was bad, he said there is nothing i can do, so i ended up going to bed with no dinner .
Please people read all reviews and avoid this ferry its soooo baaad , just get the plane or a European ferry .

Look like refugees,treated like criminals

Foot passengers from Marseille to Tunis have an unpleasant time.
Taxi drivers do not know the way to the Maghreb ferry teminal, and the CTN website gives no information, nor is there any indication on the ticket.I was deposited from a normal service bus at a grim road bridge, and walked to a barren open space with some concrete seating and a fabric canopy. The suggested time of arrival is much too early. Some of the other passengers were poor people attempting to import goods to Tunis. This behaviour presumably is the reason for the “ 2 bags plus rucsac” limit which CTN does publicise, although it incorrectly states that there is no limit on baggage size.Passengers must go through an intimidatingfull height interlocking turnstile, whilst baggage is pushed on rollers, by other passengers, through a rough hole in a piece of rusty metal.
There is an airline type security x-ray and search ( no warning from CTN) which resulted in my picnic knife being stolen by police. When the entire group has been thus processed,a fence gate is opened, the group passes through, and the gate is locked.
The passengers with luggage are left unattended to walk amongst the cars and up the ramp to the car deck. There is no direction as to entering the ship.
I have little fault to find with the ship( Tanit),on which I had a good cabin suite with bath.
Disembarkation at Tunis is via an intermediate deck through a side port to a bridge. The bad behaviour of the crowd at this point had a high risk of injury from being pushed downstairs and crushed.
There was another unannounced X ray at Tunis, before a Customs hall at which most of the other passengers had luggage thrown open.
There is no satisfactory arrangement for taxis at Tunis.

Unable to leave the star rating blank…

Unable to leave the star rating blank so had to select one star.
Me and my partner used CTN to cross from Marseille to Tunisia. We booked one way to see the experience before booking a return after reading the reviews.
Boarding took too long but the ferry had arrived on time therefore they were at no fault. The thing that slowed down the loading process dramatically were the passengers in their cars, they were unable to queue and wait. Instead they would push in any space they could and literally be door to door with your car.
The decks are quite squashy when loading the cars in but manageable.
On entering the ferry there is a board showing a map of the ferry but none of the staff spoke any English. Walking through the ferry to get to the decking was a nightmare. The corridors were very tight and people sit where they want and lay on the floor in the walkways. The corridor near the recliner chairs stunk of urine (the smell came from the cabin rooms). The recliner chairs weren’t very comfortable and did not lay down much, a lot of the tvs also didn’t work.
Upstairs on the decking started off quite hectic, there was rubbish everywhere on the floor and people sittings wherever. Let’s just say health and safety isn’t really their thing.
When getting passports checked by the police on the ferry we were left to queue for a very long time, when the police arrived and started stamping passports, passengers were just jumping the queue and causing arguments and the police would get up and start shouting at them.
When me and my partner got to the desk the police stamped my partners (he is Tunisian) and then refused to stamp mine ( British) and made up a lie stating something is against the law for them to stamp it and they wanted money for it to stamp it. I refused this and my partner told them not to worry about stamping it. Later on the police called my partner over and stamped it anyway without any money involved, I thought this was rather disgusting. Every time id be seen by a member of staff or police they would be mentioning ‘pounds’ which made me feel quite humiliated. Luckily my partner was able to talk and understand and knows the law on my behalf but I feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t know.
The toilets were vile, there was no toilet roll, no soap and the floors were all soaking wet with something.
The prices on board are high for food and drink and also the rooms.
The passengers on the boat live like animals, there is no cleanliness at all and I suggest to anyone to avoid at all costs.
Getting off of the ferry was just as bad as getting on it. Again the passengers were just trying to race eachother off the ferry and were just rude.
My advice is USE GNV FERRIES!!!! 🤞🏻

CTN has a very modern check in way

The worst experience I have ever had been.
Very aggressive staff, not friendly at all, can't communicate with them, Very ignorant in respect of the need of a customer.
CTN has a very modern check in way, when we entered the port in tunisia on the way back to Marsielle, France we had to park our vehicle and ask ordinary people about the ferries check in point , today there was only 2 ferries at the port, a long... long queue of people waiting outside the ctn office to check in, I have travelled all over the world with too many ferries operators and I have never seen a ferry check in service like this, there weren't any signs, no lines, or guidance of how to carry on, when i managed to get in the office there were 6 rows of people waiting to be served by ctn check in desks, 7 people were waiting ahead of me, 3 marseille desks on the left and 3 Genoua on the right, I was on the marseille side until my turn came up, the guy at the check in desk told me that the desk was not the marseille one but was Genoua check-in desk, and I replied that the sign was displaying Marseille on the window, he said no you have to go to the other 2 rows as this sign was put by mistake, then he removed the marseille sign.

When we have moved on we tried to talk to the staff and get explanation of why we do get treated like this, they said that here is tunisia so you will get that sort of treats.

This is another bad service from CTN.
When I booked the ferry tickets through a ferry.com website, I have purchased only 1 person meal ticket by mistake, I had to purchase another 2 adult and 1 child pension complete, there was a choice of 2 meal deals, standard and pension complete.

We have been advised to choose the pension complete as it probides you with a variety of choices according to them, they stated that if we did not like couscous we could change it to another meal, we couldn't find any towels in our room, we went to the reception to get some, they told us that there was no towels left and we have to go to our rooms, no shower today ,come back tomorrow.

we were told that it is a buffet restaurant when we booked the outbound sailing ticket but in reality,we didn't see any buffet meals, we were told to sit down on a table and we were served with 1 meal and a bottle of watter only, for Instance my youngest son can't eat couscous we had asked to change his meal to something else but they said there was nothing to be changed to, also we were told by the cashier where we got the outbound pension-complete from that it was better to buy the pension complete as the cheaper option doesn't provide a variety of choices and the open buffet is always a better choice as there is a possibility to change meals , as I said earlier we paid for a service that doesn't exist.
we spend 27:30 hours on a 22:00 hours journey ferry.
Majority of the lights in the room weren't working, entertainments, volumes and other switches not working or missing.

The smell of our room toilet can not be described, stinky.....stinky, un beatable.

Communal toilets are worse than our room toilet.

Duvets were badly stained and smelling bad.

There was no health and safety roles in the ferry at all, The decking door was blocked by a cable coming down from the top of the ferry preventing people to come out to the decking area.

All car decking were too tight as they had deleted and changed the rowing lines of the loading area in order to maximise the lines and be able to load more vehicles on.

Due to the nature of my job I have travelled and used a lot of ferry services in the past, but I have never seen such a poor service in the past.

Over all I do rate the service (-10).

Worst company

Worst company. They prioritize the income and not the service. Called them morninga and evenings regarding my ferry ticket. From Italy to tunis the ferry was 6hours and 10 min late. EU law says you can get 25% off your ticket. They don't want to help turist with anything. The workers don't want to work for the money.

Really bad experience. Every year same sh#t.
