Sharing my details with 3rd party charities
I ordered something from here in Jan. This company shared my details with 3rd party companies and I’ve had an influx of junk mail from charities I’ve never heard of asking for donations. I asked one how it got my details and they said it was from culture vulture. I haven’t consented to this. Be warned.
My mother returned a jacket to you in…
My mother returned a jacket to you in May and was advised that her the refund would be paid back to her card by 25th May however this didn’t happen. She called on 3rd June to chase the refund and was told that this would be processed straight away, it was not….when she chased this again today, 10th June, she was told that she had been sent a refund by cheque (despite the original transaction being on her credit card) She is 84 and is in poor health, there are no banks within a 15 mile radius for her to pay in the cheque!
Please refund people within your described timeframe and by the correct method.
You are causing much stress which should have been avoided if your staff where doing their jobs correctly.
I spend a lot of money buying furniture…
I spend a lot of money buying furniture from Culture Vulture. I bought a £630 chair in the sale at the cost of £315 so not cheap. And paid for delivery.
The chair was received today and was going to be deposited in my garden by the courier company. This courier was a cheap and nasty 2 manned brigade from Birmingham who had no idea how to deliver furniture. Instead of hiring a proper removals/courier firm to deliver their furniture as this was an oversized chair. They were going to leave it in the garden and I was t having that as they had no idea how to get this chair through my front door.
Now backstory to this I had already bought one of these chairs two years ago so I knew that the chair would go through the door. Culture Vulture are expecting a 70 year old woman to manhandle a chair from her from door to the living room.
These cheap skate couriers were only insured enough to deliver to the front door and were not going to bring the chair inside. Utter nonsense, what company sells an oversized chair to their customers and expect them to remove it to the desired room themselves, from their front door.
I would rather have paid more for a proper delivery company that knows how to deliver furniture.
I have raised a formal complaint but it seems as if this is the only courier that they employ, so that vi is going to be a total waste of time.
Be careful if you send someone a gift
I have ordered from this company for years and enjoy their products. They arrive a few days after being ordered and when I had a complaint a few years ago, it was dealt with efficiently and quickly. However I have recently learnt to be very careful if I send a gift to someone else. Because their website is set up to send your next order to the person you sent the gift to. This happened to me, unfortunately I didn’t go through the confirmation email with a tooth pick, so realised too late that they were sending my order to the wrong address. I rang up to complain and they insisted it was my computer’s mistake not theirs. It actually is the fault of their website for assuming that I wanted to send all future orders to the person to whom I sent the gift. This is why I haven’t given them 5 stars.
Won't deliver to 3rd largest Scottish City
I've ordered from this company and it's sister company Museum Selection many times before including large items but suddenly they no longer deliver to Aberdeen, the 3rd largest city in Scotland and directly up motorway and dual carriageway from all of the rest of the UK. Hardly the back of beyond. All the major delivery companies deliver here. Won't be using them again.
Superb Service
I will always give credit where it is deserved, and Culture Vulture delivered my item in three days, using Royal Mail thank goodness as Evri does NOT work in my area. Very good quality, great value - I am delighted, and I will use this company again. This is the second time I've ordered from them and once again great service. I highly recommend.
Won’t be using again!
Ordered a door mat end of March to give to my mother as a birthday present in May, as she had been eyeing it up for a while.
Email received 3 weeks later stating there was a delay in getting the delivery to their warehouse and that I would receive it in June.
Told my mother on her birthday that I had got her the doormat she wanted, but she would have to wait a little longer. She was disappointed but so happy to be getting it.
Called customer services this morning to chase it up to be told they now don’t know when they will be receiving it and that someone would contact me back (I won’t hold my breath).
Wish I had read the other reviews before ordering, some of which stating they sell items they don’t actually have.
Terrible customer service
I have never signed up to this company's mailing list. They sent me a brochure. I emailed to request they remove my details from their database, and they requested further info to do this (which I provided). Nonetheless, I'm still receiving brochures from them, several months later.

I received a faulty item
I received a faulty item. I called to return and replace. It was not poss. to reserve a replacement. I was told a returns label would be sent, four hours later I rang Customer Services. I was then told the label could take 24th, I called again and it was 24-48hours but definitely today. It is 1500 no label. I doubt there will be any left for me when the faulty one gets there. When I said it was terrible Customer Service he said I was shouting. I wasn’t after 34 years in Cust Serv management I know people don’t hear when shouted at.
Run away! Run away!
I spent over £130 on Christmas gifts. Firstly, I had no complete order confirmation email, only a Paypal notification of the monies being taken. Despite ordering in plenty of time, the amount of time they spent “picking and packing”, i had to buy an alternative present because I was still waiting for delivery. I am still waiting for the order to be fulfilled, so, once again, I have had to buy ANOTHER alternative present. Oddly enough, despite the despatch being associated with a ‘48-hour’ delivery, this has yet to happen. Customer service is hit and mostly miss.
Update: After another email, suddenly I got a refund for the missing items. No response via email, not apology. Such as shame as they used to be good but will never buy from them again.
Don't Bother With Next Day Delivery
CVUK3947820
Ordered yesterday, well before 2pm cut off time, and paid for next day delivery.
Item has not been dispatched, so it clearly won't be arriving today.
UPDATE Culture Vulture have refused to cancel this order and refund me. They claim the item ordered is "in picking" and that they have no method of contacting their warehouse. Apparently the item is in stock- if this is the case, why not just get a move on and dispatch it??
Emails go unanswered.
I am told that there is no-one at senior/management level available to discuss the issue. They are all "busy.
It will take two days for my request for a refund of "next day postage" to be considered.
They now say the item wil be dispatched tomorrow.
Email received on 8th December. It doesn't mention my request for a refund of postage. It claims the "picking process" has progressed too far in spite my having alerted them to the issue early yesterday morning.
**Update: Finally I have spoken to a supervisor. They have at last admitted that they have no stock. I suspected this from the outset. I have been promised a full refund.
BOGUS COMPANY/NO STOCK
Placed an order, waited 10 days, nothing came and heard nothing. Called them up, only to be told that the items weren't in stock. When I placed this order there was no mention of the items being out of stock - and they took the money, which was over £50.00.
Wrestled with them over the phone, saying as the items were not in stock I wanted to cancel and get my money back, which they eventually agreed to, seemingly reluctantly. They did apologise and said that the online order information wasn't up to date - which is ridiculous! Anyway, what a complete waste of time. I am now awaiting a refund and wasn't told how long that will be either, so we will see.
If said refund doesn't arrive in a timely manner, then I will reclaim via my credit card pronto!
This company doesn't seem to know what its doing as regards stock, so what is going on? It's as though they take the orders and money and then order things. Even if they are doing that, the process is slow, so don't bother ordering from them at all. Shame because the purported items for sale seem pretty good....
UPDATE: After asking them to cancel the order as there wasn't stock, I was promised TWICE that they would do this and follow-up by email. However, this has not been done - and unless I hear something by the end of today (7th November) I am going to ask for a chargeback through my Lloyds credit card.
Life is really too short to wrestle with people over this and I wouldn't shop with you ever again.
I feel totally SCAMMED.
SECOND UPDATE:
Now they are saying that the warehouse is 'working on the cancellation' when it's clear that nothing is being done at all. I have now concluded that this is a scam company with no stock and no intention of giving me my money back. I will now have to ask my credit card provider to effect a chargeback without further delay as they are not communicating anymore.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 14TH:
Eventually, the company did cancel the order and refunded my money, promised. They later offered me a 20% discount but I was unable to take up that offer, due to the negative experience. Once you've been burned, it's much less stressful to go to more familiar shopping sites generally....
Having waited many weeks and chasing up…
Having waited many weeks and chasing up my order placed with Culture Vulture I am now told by them there is no stock to fulfil my order. I will not be buying from them again. Total waste of time. And the clothes are not cheap !

They can’t get anything right, plus issue cheques which bounce!
Ordered a rug from this company back in March. About a week later, I received a slip in the post from Royal Mail saying that my item had been underpaid on postage by £6 and I had to pay this to release the goods. Not ideal but customer service did refund this money to me. However, a totally different rug turned up to the one I’d ordered! Again, contacted customer service and they arranged for the incorrect item to be picked up and a new rug to be issued to me. I waited two weeks to be told that the original rug I had ordered is now out of stock. No mention of a refund because a new order was created as a replacement which is showing that I paid “£0.00” for the new item. This company are a joke, all they have done is put me out of pocket and I still don’t have my item!
EDIT: A week later and they claim that the issue is due to them moving warehouses. They sent me a 20% off code to try and regain my trust… as if I will order from them again! They did refund me after a lot of nagging but still owed me money for the fees owed to Royal Mail to release the item due to underpaid postage. They sent me a cheque to cover this and it BOUNCED because they cancelled it before it was cashed in!!!! These people are crooks!

Haven’t registered to receive a catalog
I have received their catalog today which tells me that they are sister companies with Museum Selection which I delete with recently. Upon reading the reviews here I see that both companies have the same administrative failing. It is not professional to share customer info even though I understand that they want to make money. I haven’t given consent to receive catalogs through mail which goes to landfill.
Shambles of a company. Don't refund when they say they will, bad customer service!
Disgraceful company, don't issue refunds within their agreed times and full of excuses on the phone.
Their website states they'll refund within 14 days of them receiving the goods. I have confirmation they received my goods back on 13th Feb - 4 weeks ago today, still no refund.
Phoned last week to chase the money, was told they're moving warehouses hence the delays, I was told this before Christmas when an order was delayed. Chased again today to be told 'you and 500 other people are waiting for refunds, you just have to wait'! Well no, I don't, I can report the issue to Visa and trading standards since you're not meeting your own timeframes.
Won't order from them again, they also overcharged me for a sale item. Absolute shambles of a company.

I love this company
I love this company. Have ordered many things over many years. Never had to send anything back. Latest order has been received, well packaged (even though it was glass) and both items totally unique and beautiful. Items have come very quickly ( within the week even through the postal strikes) I can only speak from my own experiences but highly rate the company.
I won't be ordering anything else from…
I won't be ordering anything else from this company. In common with other reviewers, I find their systems to be shambolic, although some of their products are enticing. I deliberated long (too long, it seems), and hard before ordering a beautiful Nepalese hand-knitted hooded jacket. I rang in an order. The size I wanted was out of stock. This was weeks ago, in early October. I was very disappointed and asked if the jacket would be coming back into stock. The customer agent said she would enquire and ring back, which she eventually did. She said the jacket would not be coming back into stock. Fast forward to late November, and I received the Christmas catalogue (unsolicited). Guess what? The jacket was featured in the new catalogue! I was delighted and tried to order it online. Guess what? Out of stock. Why continue to put an item in successive catalogues if you can't supply it? The next catalogue will go straight into the recycling bin. Unopened.
Part of Data Sharing Scheme - Read privacy policy before you engage
Never requested this catalog. I have never purchased from this company. Would never buy this stuff. Straight in the trash. Waste of paper, ink, shipping resources, and mailbox space. Think before you randomly send people catalogs they did not request. We don't want it. Read CV's privacy policy which states they share your data with sister brands, data pools, in every instance they could possibly monetize you. They are not interested in your data protection, they are interested in monetizing your data for their sole purpose of putting as much money as they can in their own pockets. Your time dealing with this data removal request is the real casulty, contacting all these "sister"companies to get you removed, presuming they act in honor and will. This is an awakening, think before you buy, read their policies, before you get inundated with catalogs and solicitations. These instances have been great because, it has stopped me shopping, almost completely, and I have so much more time for more enriching things. Abuse leads to awakening and enlightenment. Thank you for the reminder, stop shopping! Spend time enriching yourself spiritually instead. Materialism is a distraction. You don't need it.
Unusual, colourful products
Used this company on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Good quality, unusual products, shipped efficiently and with care. Particularly like their support for Fair Trade.
