Washing Machine Indesit Leaking

I bought a cooker from Darty in Pontivy and it's fine 5 years later.
I then bought and Indesit washing machine in October 2023 and is is now leaking with very little use.
The staff in the shop are so helpful but the washing machine is useless. I will not buy from them again.

Left vulnerable elderly customers without water

My 90 year old parent (British retirees in France) purchased a dishwasher from Darty in Rostrenen and paid €39 for delivery, installation and removal of old dishwasher. However when the installation engineer arrived he refused to fit the machine because he did not have the correct tools and did not want to get his trousers dirty. He also hit the stopcock with a screwdriver, breaking it, and then left my parents with no water and no working dishwasher. When we complained to Darty Rostrenen we were given unsatisfactory customer service and my parents were told they had to pay another €29 to have the same installer pay a return visit to inspect the work which my parents managed to do themselves, despite being elderly and vulnerable.

Terrible

Terrible: store only cares about their sales commission. Phone customer service does not take the machine back when it legally should.

Delivered a wet machine (wet inside, we suspect already a return). We paid 40eur for installation which amounts to connnevting water and waste and leaving before checking it actually works.

Machine does not work. The electrics appear to be at fault, they are blaming our water pressure. Previous machine worked fine with the water pressure. Dishwasher also works fine. Just not their faulty Samsung washing machine. Legally we can return within 15 days which we requested. They agreed, but instead sent someone around to fix it, despite agreeing it would be a return. Really exasperated with service and will now have to physically dump it ourselves at their store in Sallanches. Terrible customer service - they just want their sales commission and give zero care about customer service and satisfaction.

Booked a meeting for a repairman to…

Booked a meeting for a repairman to come and fix the dish washer by phone. Said they would send someone monday 10am. An hour later still no news. Managed to finally get hold of someone. Says she can't liaise with technical dept. Finally contacted sais technical dept saying a phone call is arranged for the day after. Woah! So the guy will fix the dishwasher remotely. I bought via Darty because of their after sale service. Thing of the past. Will use discounters next time.

Another dead retailer.

Beware their insurance scam through Darty Max.

We bought two expensive items from Darty in Clermont Ferrand. Our French is not very good and we did not realise they were signing us up for expensive monthly insurance through their Darty Max system. They also promised to send us a Carte Cadeau reward card which never arrived. They totally took advantage of us and our lack of French to sell us something we did not understand. We have an entire house to furnish and if they had treated us with respect we would have bought many more items from them but now we will never spend another penny with Darty. Their customer service is awful too - so rude. Beware what they are signing you up for or better still, spend your money elsewhere.

TERRIBLE. Attempting to get a refund issued. Terrible customer service. Buy somewhere else. Save yourself a lot of grieve. They are holding over 1000 euros and will not release it.

A deeply concerning customer service failure at Darty Toison d’Or

On Tuesday, September 2nd, around 10 a.m., we visited the Darty store at Toison d’Or in Dijon. We were staying in Dijon for one week only, as we live in Montreal, Canada.
The previous year, we had purchased a Philips DiamondClean electric toothbrush from this same store. During our visit, the ring at the top of the handle came loose. As the product was still under warranty, we returned to the original store expecting a reasonable solution.
What followed was a deeply concerning customer service experience, highlighting a serious operational failure.

The in-store team appeared rigid, unhelpful, and unable to manage a straightforward situation. The female sales assistant we dealt with (identifiable by short hair, visible tattoos and piercings) behaved in a rude, condescending, and openly disrespectful manner. Any attempt at a calm, rational discussion was met with a wall of negativity, with no listening, no empathy, and absolutely no willingness to help or explore alternatives.

The only solution imposed was to leave the toothbrush in France for approximately 10 days for a technical diagnosis, despite the fact that we were returning to Canada and that international shipping was not an option. Reasonable alternatives, such as sending photos to the technical team to confirm warranty coverage beforehand, were dismissed without explanation.

What was particularly alarming is that this employee was not wearing any name badge, making it impossible to identify her as an official representative of the brand. For a company of Darty’s stature, this reflects a lack of internal control, accountability, and respect for basic customer service standards.

The interaction ended with an inappropriate and insulting remark, confirming a complete absence of professionalism. At this point, this was no longer a warranty issue but a serious and concerning customer service failure, entirely inconsistent with the image and values Darty claims to uphold.

For comparison, we later visited another Darty location, where the experience was entirely different. The salesperson, Cyprien, was professional, courteous, and genuinely committed to helping and finding solutions. This clearly demonstrates that the issue lies not with Darty as a brand, but with the management and customer service culture of the Toison d’Or store.
