Very shady experience
I reach out to Data Phoenix a few months ago. They were super friendly and nice and offered to have my hard drive shipped to their office for free. A couple of days later they called me and said that they had opened up the hard drive and that the job would cost at least 800 euros. This was way beyond the starting quote of 250 euros and beyond my budget.
I asked them to please send my hard drive back.
A few hours later they called me back to tell me that actually they had now discovered a major scratch on my disk that would prevent it from EVER getting recovered. They said that since the HD could never get recovered, they recommended that they just throw it away instead of shipping it back to me.
I said, no, I want the hard drive back. It took them over a month to get back back to me. And now the hard drive doesn't work at all. Before, I had been able to plug it in and see a directory of files. Now, I plug it in and nothing happens. Obviously things got much worse after Data Phoenix touched it.
Overall I feel that they intentionally damaged my hard drive when I wasn't willing to pay 800 euros to recover my data. I would not recommend their service.
