I have used DC commercially for over 12years now from cleaning, painting, landscaping and waste removal. When working in a fast paced business having a multi facet contractor who are so reactive is a god send!
DC have always been very responsive and more than competent in the work they undertake. They have always given me time both on site and on the phone and their customer service is fantastic
The staff in the office are really kind and courteous; DC always manage to fit in my requests even at the last minute
We contacted DC Property Maintenance to enquire about regular cleaning of our home. Their representative came to the property to offer a quotation, and suggested that the first visit should be a "deep clean throughout." The company followed up with an email quotation of £250 plus vat, which we agreed to.
A team of two arrived to perform the "deep clean throughout." They were here for approximately five hours, and upon initial inspection, the house appeared to be clean. The carpets were free of dog hair, surfaces appeared to have been dusted, and the cupboards looked clean.
However, shortly after the team had left, I went upstairs and immediately noticed that one of the toilets had not even been touched. I went into the other bathroom and saw the same was true there. The sinks and tub had also been missed, and although the shower door looked fairly clean, the shower stall and tiles had not been touched.
I also discovered that, although the kitchen cabinets had been wiped down on the outside, the inside and rims had not been cleaned. The stovetop had been cleaned, but not the caps over the gas, nor the racks that fit over the top.
I emailed DC Property Maintenance, told them what I'd found, and at first simply asked about a reduced rate for vacuuming and dusting, since that seemed to be primarily what had been done. I was told that their rate remains the same regardless of the work done. At 5 hours of cleaning, with a total invoice of £250 plus vat, this means the company must charge £50 per hour to clean a house.
I emailed again, this time pointing out that we had been led to believe we were paying £250 plus vat for a "deep clean throughout," and had definitely not received this service. I reiterated that the toilets had not been cleaned, since any type of clean should imply toilets, let alone a "deep clean throughout." I suggested that the team had perhaps not been informed that this was to be a "deep clean throughout," even though, again, toilets certainly would have been included regardless.
The response from DC Property Maintenance was that the team did know, but obviously needed more training in performing a "deep clean throughout." The company then offered us £20 as a "token of good faith." This means we paid £230 plus vat for vacuuming and dusting. We accepted the £20 refund, but told them that this does not mean we are satisfied, but simply that we are closing the matter. We cancelled all future appointments with DC Property Maintenance, and hired an individual to do the work.
Since our correspondences with DC Maintenance, we have discovered areas where things had not been moved to dust around or under, and one can actually see these dusty spots without moving anything. For instance, standing beside our hearth we can easily see a large patch of undusted area behind a small speaker.
Additionally, things were moved to clean, and then not put back in their original positions. There are several things we've had to search for. Among these was a headband which had belonged to my mother, and which now sits on a doll's head in our upstairs hallway. The headband was eventually found downstairs. Why it had been removed in the first place is a mystery, let alone moved to another floor of the house. There were tools sitting on a desk in our office, which were found inside of a box in a dark corner. All of the items on our dresser are arranged with my husband's belongings on one side and mine on the other. They were found to be completely mixed up, and a couple of items had been put into drawers. We are still searching for one or two things that, although I'm sure are still in the house, are definitely not where they had been prior to the DC Property Maintenance "deep clean throughout." Additionally, our speakers, which my husband had arranged for maximum sound quality, had been stacked together in a corner.
The one-person company we hired afterward cleaned the house in 3 hours for less than one-fifth the price DC Property Maintenance charged, and nothing has been lost or rearranged.
I still believe the team had not been told this was to be a "deep clean throughout," and that the company placed the blame on their employees, and left their customer to pay for their mistake.
Would I recommend this company to anyone? I guess that depends upon how much one wants to pay £250 plus vat to do their own cleaning and a thorough search of their property for missing items. If that's something you enjoy, then yes, definitely hire this company.
