Extremely poor service and total lack of accountability
I booked a multi-parcel shipment (3 boxes) with ParcelCompare / DPD Express from the UK to Italy on 24 September, containing only my personal belongings after moving back home. I prepared all the required documentation carefully — everything clearly marked as “personal belongings”, with detailed invoices, values, and compliant tariff codes.
Despite this, the courier never showed up for collection. I had to drop the parcels off myself, and soon after, I discovered that ParcelCompare had incorrectly declared the shipment as a “gift”, which caused customs to reject it and send it back. This was their administrative error, not mine — my documents are clear and consistent.
DPD told me they could do nothing because Deliver Plus / ParcelCompare is the account holder, while ParcelCompare’s customer service is practically unreachable, not to mention Delive plus. I sent multiple emails and received only one short reply saying I’d be charged for the return. No one ever contacted me directly.
In the meantime, two parcels were randomly redelivered to my empty UK address, one left unattended outside. The third parcel is still stuck in the return process. I paid a high price for “express” service and got failure at every stage — missed collection, wrong customs declaration, zero communication, and refusal to take responsibility.
I am now left trying to recover my belongings myself. I would strongly advise others to avoid ParcelCompare/ Deliver Plus — unreliable service, no real customer support, and no accountability when things go wrong.
