Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 71 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of products, noting a decline over time and issues with items like water systems, lawn mowers, and drills failing prematurely. The warranty process was a significant point of contention, with numerous reports of difficulties in registering products, getting support, or having warranties honored, often due to strict interpretations of terms or issues with unauthorized dealers. Customer service was frequently criticized for being unhelpful, slow to respond, and difficult to reach, with some experiencing long wait times and unresolvable issues. Additionally, many felt that the pricing was not justified given the perceived drop in product quality and the poor after-sales support. However, some customers did appreciate the power and quality of certain tools, and a few had positive experiences with warranty replacements, though these were less common.

Stealth sonic vacuum

Stealth sonic vacuum, was cleaning up and all of a sudden the vacuum became extremely loud. Had the vacuum 6 months (DEC) used it for three months. suctioned water without filter, cleaned with filter and bag. The noise is worse than rigid 6.0. Suction not what I expected, screw that hold bag on keeps falling out. (factory) screws.

False Advertisement and Fraud

Dewalt advertises their ladders in all videos and even on the product itself as having rung end caps included and it does not. I was told, after contacting customer service, that they are no longer included with the new black color. It is clearly advertised on the package that came with the ladders that rung end caps come with the new black ladders. I ordered 2 of them. This is false advertisement and unethical business practices. Dewalt is deceiving and defrauding it's customers through false advertisement. Their customer service is atrocious. I have emailed and called several times with no response. I'll be sending them back to home depot for a complete refund. I have thousands of dollars of Dewalt tools and batteries. I'll be switching back to Makita. For the best possible outcome, buy from a big box store and take it back if it fails. They will send it back to Dewalt, you will get a full refund or exchange with no dealing with Dewalt's customer diservice, and maybe after enough garbage goes back, they will change their business model. They will not mess with the big box stores for fear of losing their relationship.

Dewalt leaf blower has lousy power and battery life

I own a DeWalt 20v drill, chainsaw, pole chainsaw, and hedge trimmer - and I love them all. So when the carburetor on my Stihl gas-powered leaf blower went bad, I felt good about adding a new DeWalt leaf blower to my collection. I have two 5ah batteries that were new this winter, both fully charged. The leaf blower came with a 4ah battery, but I needed to charge it, so I attached one of my fully charged 5ah batteries.

The airflow of the leaf blower is disappointing (my son commented how light and compact the tool is, and that should have been my first concern). Yes, it can move a leaf, about five feet then I have to follow the leaf continuously until I get it where I want it.

I have a quarter acre with the house in the center. Before mowing, I use my string trimmer then I use my leaf blower to get everything onto the lawn so I can mow/mulch it all. I made it halfway around my house, about 15 minutes of continuous use, and the battery was dead. I put the second fully charged 5ah battery in place and worked faster so I didn’t run out of power before I even mowed the yard. When I finished mowing, I went back to the leaf blower to clear the grass clippings from the sidewalk and, again the battery was exhausted (also, about fifteen minutes of use). I pugged in the 4ah battery (now fully charged) and worked really fast to finish while both 5ah batteries were on their chargers.

I can use the chainsaw or pole chainsaw or hedge trimmer for MUCH longer (this may sound odd, but I’ve never run either 5ah batteries dead on any of those devices, and I LOVE doing yard work) without running out of power.

I bought this leaf blower on recycling day and was so confident of any Dewalt tool that I recycled the box after assembling and testing the tool, so there is no going back for a return, but this useless tool has soured my image of Dewalt permanently.

I’ve laughed at neighbors who can’t mow their quarter acre yard in one day because their battery powered lawn mowers die so quickly, so I’ve stuck with gas powered mowers, leaf blowers, and string trimmers. This week I betrayed my instincts and experience - and I now regret it, badly, to the tune of $219 plus tax.

If you live in a 10th floor condo, and need to blow the flower pedals off of your 100 square foot balcony, then this the tool for you. If you need to clear actual leaves, grass clippings, or yard debris then buy a gas powered leaf blower (or at least buy some other brand of battery powered tool than Dewalt).

Biggest waste of my money

Biggest waste of my money. Don’t make enough money to have to switch tools that stop working after 6months to a year of using. They dont value their tools or customers. Everytime a DEWALT too breaks I’m now buying ryobi. And well it’s about the same but longer battery life’s.

Never again!

I’m a woodworker and in the process of transitioning all my tools to DeWalt. Purchased a new headless trimmer and after 4 uses, the head jammed up and unable to remove. After numerous attempts (the last one being a 47 minute wait time before I finally gave up) to contact support, I’m done. If you don’t value your customer’s time, I don’t value the company or product. What a disappointment and a shame on them.

Absolutely absurd customer service

Absolutely absurd customer service!

Bought a battery that was faulty and needed to be replaced, it took forever to have this arranged and actually having it back. Received a replacement. Half a year down the line it stopped working again! Contacted Dewalt and they advised that ‘ Unfortunately, we are unable to proceed with your request as the warranty for the battery has expired. Our policy is to honour the warranty based on the original product and not on any replacement units. ’

Imagine how crazy this sounds!?
Each item has its own guarantee and you can not punish your clients for having an item fixed or replaced because it was faulty, that is on you Dewalt!
You clearly do not want to have a good customer service and wish to lose clients!

If this is not resolved, we will not be purchasing anymore from you and will make sure that you receive a negative review everywhere!

What happened to customer support

UPDATE 060624. Still not got anywhere: now 4 weeks since first contact. Still going around in a stupid loop of nothingness with Dewalt despite probably 30 emails plus calls!
What happened to customer support?
Bought a new flexvolt strimmer which was £430 it worked twice! And getting them to replace it or collect for repair is awful!
That was unfortunately my last Dewalt purchase

Loved them for over a decade

Loved them for over a decade. All my tools are dewalt and I’m tossing them for i don’t really care what ryobi or something. Their customer service is hot garbage. It took over an hour for a answer to a simple question that they made me jump through hoops for. I’m taking it personal because I talked up their products and they can’t help at all regarding issues with their products.

I've been buying dewalt for 25 years i…

I've been buying dewalt for 25 years i currently have 9 battery tools and I just bought a new dewalt drill and driver combo and its garbage. The batteries last for a couple minutes in the Sawzall jigsaw grinder seconds in the skill saw...and I've been trying to talk to anyone there for 4 days but i guess I don't matter, millwaukee replied to me within 24 hours so dewalt doesn't care about my 25 years of loyalty and support they don't care enough to even respond to my emails. They can have there garbage tools back and im going to buy all new Milwaukee because they answered when I had a question....dewalt is to good for their customers....to lazy to show me the most basic courtesy and their battery life does not compare to millwaukee so dewalt is officially fired. Not that they care.....it really bugs me because I genuinely love dewalt tools but I'm not spending a few hundred dollars to charge 2 batteries 3 times a day, that's ridiculous and they don't even care to acknowledge that there is a problem and all get is a generic computer generated response....fired!

I committed to dewalt and bought lots…

I committed to dewalt and bought lots of power tools, a chainsaw, a trimmer, a blower and a brushless lawnmower. The batteries that came with the lawnmower were the old technology instead of what they were promoting. They last almost 2 summers before I couldn’t even cut my entire lawn which is not big by any means. I used the warranty and they sent me two new old batteries instead of new tech batteries they were promoting. They were also not enough. Maybe they sat on the shelf for years or were refurbished. Now I have 4 20v batteries that I can barely finish cutting my grass with let alone trim and blow. DO NOT GO TO BATTERY OPERATED LAWNMOWERS! It costs more to by new batteries than a new lawnmower. STICK TO GAS PEOPLE!!!

Customer service is awful

Customer service is awful! Replacement tools should be sorted asap with minimal down time. It’s been two weeks since my first phone call….tool was finally meant to be collected today…but wasn’t! I’m fairly sure they give you the run around so you give up on the warranty claim.

Hopeless Warranty Support

I am now one full month into the process of attempting to get a valid warranty repair completed. It is difficult to express the level of frustration and anger over the run-around I've been getting. They agreed from the start that I am eligible for warranty repair on my DCD791 drill, but the tools online that must be used to enter this request have left me fuming.
Dewalt support staff also seem poorly trained, don't know their own procedures and send such brief email replies that they don't explain anything or provide sufficient guidance, requiring multiple emails for them to finally 'get it'.
The ServiceNow portal they use (in Canada, anyhow) for repair/warranty requests is so buggy as to be useless.
At this point, I will never buy another Dewalt product, strictly because of the warranty support.

Dewalt DWS 780 Mitre Saw, not so great warranty service

I'm a DIY and bought a DeWalt dws780 mitre saw 9 months ago. I use it sporadically, and love the performance and the cut line feature. However, the cut line feature stopped working last week. My issue is with the DeWalt warranty service. Beyond atrocious. I live in Calgary, Canada, so called the 1-800 number which I think routes calls to the US. They had no clue where any city in Canada is located. Calgary has over a million people, Home Depots and Lowe's and other power tool stores all over the place. DeWalt is a very popular brand but DeWalt has no factory service here. They suggested I call their nearest factory service, in Edmonton, which is 200 miles away. They did not know if there were any authorized DeWalt service centres in Calgary. I called Edmonton. They offered to give me a shipping label to ship the saw to Edmonton. Once it arrived they thought 4-6 weeks to repair, and then they would ship it back to me. You have to question DeWalt's sanity in offering to ship a 68 pound mitre saw 200 miles and back to fix a light. I didn't want to be without the saw for the 6+ weeks it would take on it's round trip journey, so I quickly sleuthed the there were two authorized service shops is Calgary. The news was slightly better. I could drop the saw off, which I am happy to do, and it would be 4-6 weeks at one shop, or 3-4 weeks at the other. I dropped it off at the latter shop, and suppose I should be happy that I'll be without the saw for only 3-4 weeks. If I was a contractor dependent on my expensive mitre saw for a month, I'd be livid. As a DIY, I'm only p*ssed.

Wish I could give 0 star

Wish I could give 0 star. Wouldn't own another Dewalt product. Customer service is non-existant.
Bought new 20 volt Impact driver. Wasn't working properly. Only impacted 3 times per trigger pull which anyone who works with this tool knows is not proper operation. Sent in for warranty repair and it was returned still working incorrectly, in other words without being repaired. Still trying to get warranty repair but can't get any help. Recommend finding a different company for your tool needs.
