BUYER BEWARE!! It’s truly sad that I had to give DILLARDS even one star. They don’t deserve any!!! Google please change that. Do not buy from this retailer. They don’t deserve to be in business based on their atrocious customer service and return policy. My backstory is I received two MacKensie Childs tea kettles as gifts. One teapot was the 2 QT size purchased through Dillards online in December ‘24. I also received the same item in a 3 QT size that I opted to keep. The tea kettle from Dillards wasn’t gifted to me until my birthday in January. I wrote a letter to Dillards explaining my dilemma and simply asked for a credit or exchange towards a different MacKensie Childs item. As this was a gift, I was not aware of the 30-day return policy and I missed the return window by about a week and that includes shipping to/from.
NOTE… I was NOT looking for a refund. To most people who read this…an exchange or credit sounds logical and simple enough. Dillards is not losing any money by doing this. I mailed the tea kettle back insured mail with the receipt in the original packaging to their online processing center. Approximately 1 week later the tea kettle was returned to the purchaser stating that the return passed their 30 day return policy. Calls were made up the Dillards chain of command including Dillards chairman who would not take the call but a big shout out to his admin who was the only normal person I spoke to. She referred us to Andrea Valentine who is their contact for customer complaints and well… I will just end my story there. I have never seen a retailer operate in the manner they do. I would be very curious to know what their interview process is like because I need to understand why anyone would choose to work for a company that is so bad to its customers. The same customers that ultimately keep them in business. From my experience in contacting several members of the Dillards management, their team is NOT customer centric and their interaction is almost robotic and scripted. I have read so many customer complaints with similar experiences and this entire experience has been eye opening. DO NOT BUY FROM DILLARDS! There are so many better retailers available that carry the same merchandise.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE! They claim to be “luxury hotel quality” , but they are far from it !!!!! I washed my daughter’s comforter once, followed all the instructions, washed it cold separately and tumble dried on low and it is all beaded !!! Customer service told me they stand on their 30 day return policy from the date of purchase. It took almost 2 weeks to get it, she used it when we redid her room, I put it in the wash after a few uses, and now it is destroyed. They refuse to replace the item. Buyer beware !
Shipping fees both ways...
Ehhh... I've stopped using Dillard's because they charge a shipping fee to get items and then, if you have to return anything, they ding you again. Macy's & Nordy's have free shipping both ways (and in the case of Macy's, enough brick & mortar stores to allow purchases to be conveniently returned in person). Hard pass on Dillard's.
Great all round, happy I took a chance on Dillard's!
I often check companies that I'm not familiar with on Trustpilot but rarely follow through if the reviews are not good. I'm not quite sure why but I decided to take a risk despite Dillard's 1.5 star rating and I'm so happy I did. The shoes I ordered were perfect, the price was considerably better than anywhere else (usually a red flag for me), delivery was quick and packaging was excellent. I'm glad I took a chance and wanted to point out to others that satisfaction can be had with Dillard's!
Beware of sales items that are non-returnable
Ordered a sports coat in my size that was on sale but did not fit and was non-returnable. Since I badly needed this , or an item like this, I said I would gladly pay more for something I could use. Was told that was not possible. Now, why would a business have a policy to cut themselves out of a bigger sale? My first time to have this experience at Dillards, and makes me wonder if I should shop elsewhere in the future as this kind of thinking makes no sense and likely translates into other policies I might want to avoid.

Horrible Service
I ordered Christmas mugs and only received half of order and they are dragging out an investigation and basically calling me a liar for $7.50. The first person I spoke with was condescending and so was the manager. This is why I don't shop at Dillards! I am going to tell the person that gave me the gift card to NEVER GIVE ME A DILLARD'S GIFT CARD AGAIN, its not worth the hassle!!! Everything looks like its for an old lady... Even if I was an old lady I wouldn't shop there!! No service and not competitively priced merchandise. I can go to Macy's or Nordstrom and find service and better merchandise and lower prices.
Sneaky return policy
I inadvertently ordered some items that I did not realize were non-returnable. Rather than be up-front and mark the web pages with the words, "Final Sale", Dillard's buries the info in their return policy which states that items reduced more than 65% from original price are not returnable. That requires the customer to be paying attention to original vs sales price and calculate the discount. Dillards does note in the shopping cart that the item is non-returnable, but if you are ordering from a phone, you may not see that. Unfortunately, I did not see that note. As soon as I realized what happened, I called Dillards, but they refused to help - stating over and over again that the info was there. Admittedly, I missed it, but the items had not even shipped yet (although labels had been created). I asked them to accept the items as a return because I was still calling fairly early in the process, but they did not agree to that either. They insisted that I had plenty of notice about the non-returnable items. I disagree. Had Dillards used the words "FINAL SALE" right on the shopping page (as do all other retailers), I would not have made the mistake. Burying it in the small print in the shopping cart is a sneaky practice.
I don't live in a region where there is a Dillards store, so I have very little recourse, except to write this review.
A couple years ago, I had ordered some dresses, tried them on and returned them. The process was simple. So, I thought I would give Dillards another try. Things did not work out at all this time. I'm very disappointed in the Customer Service. I will no longer consider Dillards as an option and will share my experience with others.
It's no wonder Dillards has a 1.5 Star review from the Better Business Bureau, Trust Pilot, Consumer Affairs, Reviews.io and others.

Extremely dissapointed , i placed an order of $300 + i never received it , i contacted them to send me my refund back they are refusing, no proof of delivery nothing i had to contact BBB, my bank to open a dispute, im reporting them everywhere possible im not losing that $300+ thats it
mean employees
this was absolutely ridiculous. My and my friend were trying on outfits and needed a dressing room. We checked the ones that were right by us and walked inside. A worker screamed that there were no rooms available when me and my friend clearly saw a room. The worker continued to let other customers in. Me and my friend finally got in a dressing room in a different section. As we were changing the worker knocked on our door practically yelling at us for not listening. We don’t know what we did and all we wanted was to try on our clothes. This is absolutely ridiculous.throughout the rest of our shopping she kept giving us dirty looks.
Hassle free
Ordered online. Capri pants and a tee shirt. When I looked at the reviews for Dillards,I saw that so many people were complaining about their order not being delivered. They were mostly disappointed with the company that did the shipping. My order shipped by USPS and arrived within a week. Loved the clothes and will be ordering from them again.
Avoid This Store at All Costs
I purchased New Year gifts from this store ( 900$ order amount ), but my experience has been a nightmare. After receiving a "Delivered" notification, I found that nothing was delivered to me. When I contacted customer support, they insisted the package had been delivered to my home. However, a few days later, I discovered that the items had been delivered to my neighbor instead.
By the time I finally got the package, I no longer needed the items and initiated a return. It's been over a month since I sent the items back, but I still haven’t received my refund. Despite the return label confirming they received my package, the store claims otherwise and refuses to investigate further.
This is unacceptable and feels like a scam. I strongly recommend avoiding this store and taking your business elsewhere.
I have recently been to the Dillard's…
I have recently been to the Dillard's Spanish Fort location multiple times and shopped in most depts due to the holidays and sales. In addition, I have lived in the area approx. 23 years and shopped there regularly. On recent multiple visits, I've had to speak with the managers due to pricing issues and inquiries. My experiences with the store manager, Sandra and another manager, Valerie, were less than pleasant and very unprofessional. I will not detail every contact with them, but for example on one visit I suggest a refresher course in the basics of good customer service and priority the customers inquiries should take above completing tasks such as mark downs. The store manager may need to rethink the example she is setting for the employees she is supervising. If she treated me with little regard and common courtesy, she is no doubt doing it to other customers and employees under her supervision. She did confirm this was her first management position, but unfortunately this doesn't excuse the lack of simple customer basics the one would expect. If it weren't for the great sales associates at this location. I may shop in Mobile.
I do not often write reviews, hardly ever, but I felt the need due to the continued treatment over multiple visits, multiple chances and offenses collectively by these two managers. Thank you for addressing this issue that will improve quality service and the customer experience, which, I have no doubt, will affect the overall rating (not just mine) of a "1/2" for this Dillard's Spanish Fort, Al. location.
No Refund from Dillard’s
Order number 0735217092 . $180 bottle of Sauvage . An empty box arrived via Fedex . Wife called Dillard’s and they’re blaming fedex . Dillard’s will not replace the stolen item therefore we’re out of $180 and my Christmas gift . Thanks Dillard’s and Merry Christmas !
Never Received Gift Card
I ordered a gift card on December 14th for my sister-in-law, she never got it. I called after Christmas (Thursday) and they said they would send a new gift card Overnight FedEx and I would receive a tracking number. It’s Saturday, I have not received a tracking number and the gift card has not been sent yet. I called and it’s apparently on his way.
Dillards hours
Went to Dillards today waited because the door said opens at 11:00 got there a quarter till, parking lot full everyone on the inside. They act like they don’t want you to know when they open, just turned around and left…so aggravating.

i got a threatening letter they would…
i got a threatening letter they would close my account if i did not update my physical address....why do you need to threaten a card holder for over 20 years...then the lady on the phone, answer after updating,, was rude when i mentioned i was not happy with the letter. you dont really have any benefits from being a cardholder anyway, Nordstroms gives notes, Macy gives extra discounts with using their card...so i should probally just cancel it anyway...your big thing is 10% off for a day...give us a break...that aint a deal...
