We have had pools for 30 years and this is the 1st time we have a pool pump that lasts only 4 years. I tried to get some technical advice and check if Doheny has problems reported with this particular pump. The person I talked to had zero knowledge, was zero help and of course zero commercial effort. I would not recommend buying from them.
Doheny's solar pool covers
This is the email I sent Doheny's:
So, this cover was bought last August and put into service immediately. It was pulled off, rolled up and put into my storage shed for the Winter about mid-September. It was pulled out and put on the pool at the beginning of May 2024. It started bleeding plastic pieces from the bubbles in July. Later in August, when I was pulling the cover off to swim, it ripped. It didn't catch on anything. It just ripped from my pulling. It always goes back on the pool after the swim.
These problems shouldn't be manifesting on a cover that has only about 4 months of total usage. My last two covers,
which I purchased from Doheny's, both lasted 3 seasons. I didn't save my receipts from them so I couldn't make claims. This last time I did. I am very disappointed this time around. The cover did a fine job heating up the water. It just fell apart.
You state the warranty doesn't cover the bubble damage due to an unbalanced pool. Really? And how long would it need to be unbalanced for it to eat away the plastic? One day, a week, a month, the whole season? An unbalanced pool would be an uncomfortable pool to swim in. My pH is always where it should be. I assure you my grandkids and my wife would surely complain about the water quality. I run a simple ionizer, which I've used for about 9 seasons. This allows me to use LESS chlorine. So, that can't be it. I also use Easy Care Pooltec algaecide. There is nothing in it's information sheets that says it will harm plastic. That's all the chemicals I use. No need to use pH adjusters because it's never out of whack.
I really don't think ANY cover will make it to it's warranted life expectancy. But, it surely should last more than 4 months.
I expect a fairly decent credit towards another cover. It's been a month and no answer. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM DOHENY'S!

Following the instructions on the box it came out easy and was easy to install and aligned correctly with our previous anchor points. Failed & cost me time + money.
Failed. Ordered a variable speed pool pump with a 1 1/2" inlet & outlet. Sent a different pump. No callback from customer service. Just a Fedex return label. Had to call them for an explanation. Their fail & now expects me to wait until they received the wrong product back before they will credit back my CC or adapt plumbing at my expense & time.
Recommend for new liner
Their pricing is good. I never installed a liner before so I was hesitant. Their procedure for measurement is good. Their customer service (Matt) was very helpful. They have a good video for installing the liner. They delivered it on time and it fit perfectly. I save about $3000!

I ordered an above ground pool cover and closing supplies which were delivered as scheduled
Upon opening the cover, I realized it was not the quality I preferred and asked to exchange it for a sturdier one.
I was told I would have to pay the shipping costs which would be deducted from my refund.
I have never had to pay shipping for returning any items I have purchased online
All I did was take it out of the box, it is not unfolded or removed from the plastic covering.
I will not be purchasing from Doheny again
Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware! Dohenys products have become extremely inferior. I have purchased many products from Dohenys for decades but I will no longer be a customer. Their inground pool covers are extremely cheaply made. I purchased a 25x49 pool cover and it is so thin that I could wrap a sandwich in it. Customer service on phone is horrible. I feel like I am talking to people overseas. Done with Dohenys!!
Pump went out 1 week after warranty
Bought one of their brand pumps. It went out 1 week after the warranty expired. Looked at reviews about the pump. Same thing happened to multiple people. They are knowingly selling a product that fails right after the warranty expires. Criminals!
Absolutely unacceptable customer…
Absolutely unacceptable customer service response to a lost shipment!
Order was shipped to wrong address and when I called they told me to “go find the package”! Contacted the carrier and they attempted a retrieval but could not locate package and directed me back to Doheny's.
Customer service said that because I misspelled my street name there was nothing they were willing to do!
OK…. but it was their system that changed the address and even the zip code to something completely random! Additionally, even though the address did not match my billing address, they still put the charge through?! I escalated this to a manager representative who was not interested in solving this problem and was rude, curt and she continually spoke over me! After an hour on the phone, exhausted, I ended my attempt for a resolution.
I called my bank and explained the situation and was refunded the entire amount in about a month…
This order was over $110. You would figure a huge company could find a way to resolve this and avoid bad reviews?!
Pro-Vac pool cleaner
Recently purchased a Pro-Vac pool vacuum/cleaner. The directions were extremely vague, and troubleshooting guide was basically worthless. There were parts included in the package that weren't listed in the booklet and there presence just added to the confusion. The worst part is after following the directions, the vac hose becomes lodged in the corners or the pool and won't move until you readjust the hose, it will then work until the hose hits the next corner, then it becomes stuck again. Doesn't matter if you add a section to the hose length or remove a section of hose. $225.00 pool vacuum that has to be manually guided by hand ???
Another unsatisfied customer
This company claims to ship so fast that they cannot cancel an order right after placing the order. Their return policy is NOT easily found. They also aren’t available to take calls 24hrs yet they can process a shipment as soon as you click complete order. I can see why this company has so many issues. They aren’t customer friendly for returns or refusal of package. Spend $100 and they charge you $38 to return. I would advise them to not use online ordering and keep their store front. They don’t know how to treat customers online.
Recently purchase a new pool filter
Recently purchase a new pool filter . I thought I was ordering the color that was advertised online . What I received was A black filter, which is not very appealing to look at and does not go with the decor of my yard. I would have never ordered it if I had known it was dark black. Nowhere in the description does it say the color , unfortunately I did not realize until it after I had received it. This is false advertisement . Tried reaching out to customer service and still no response.

Return Policy & General Handling Is Abhorrent
Ordered an above-ground pool and for various reasons could not install. The pool had never been opened - was still in the box, on the pallet, and strapping intact. Contacted them because they say they have a Guarantee and money back within 30 days. I knew I'd have to pay the freight shipping back, they then told me I'd also have to pay the freight cost to ship it to me originally because "it was free shipping". After a Manager reviewed this, they decided to waive the "initial" shipping cost. I sent it back, stayed in contact with them, gave tracking information, and spoke with them on the phone/email at least 7 times. Almost 1 month later no refund was showing up. I contacted them again, to be told that they have it noted that the pool was "used/damaged" and I'd get no refund. I have photos of this before sending it back and it was never even opened. They also said they received it (9) days later than it was actually signed for by their Receiving Department. I would never buy a single thing from this company again. I'm still awaiting follow-up from yet more people at Doheny on this. I'd get your pool supplies and pool literally anywhere but here.

I ordered two pumps for my pool so I could have a spare. I followed tracking daily as my pump had failed. Tracking said they arrived but they didn’t come to my house.
I called customer service with my complaint. Once again my order was for two pumps, I got one.
I’m not real happy with the way they do business.

Company sells KNOWN terrible products (solar covers)!!
Balanced pool with low amount of chemicals. Average California weather. No reason this solar cover should disintegrate by the second year! VERY POOR QUALITY. I bought 3200 clear cover that lasted one year, filed warranty claim and got 2400 blue cover as alternative. That also only lasted one year. Filed third claim for same cover and that also lasted only one year! I'm seeing a pattern. And despite 8 year warranty, Doheny's prorates to 0% coverage after 6 years and makes you pay shipping on every claim. Total scam!! Be warned you will repurchase a solar cover every one or two years with this company!!
Will NEVER use this company again
I've never had such a bad experience purchasing a product online. The product came with a broken lateral. They then wanted me to send the WHOLE unit back. Luckily my pool guys were able to find a new one and saved the day. But wait, they take the plastic off the base of the unit and there's a HUGE crack in the filter. So, I call on Monday and they say they are going to send a replacement back. By Wednesday, it still says label created in Fedex. So, I call again and the foreigner that I speak too says they will send another replacement out. Never got an email with tracking. I'm thinking there is no way they could not send it twice so I wait till Friday and nothing comes. I then call again and finally get a customer service agent in the US. She was somewhat sympathetic and nice. She then sends out another replacement, calls me back with the tracking number, and I receive a new tracking number in my email. This is Friday. All weekend the tracking still says label created. Now I'm really starting to get pissed. My pool is turning green and we can't use it in the middle of summer. So, I called her again yesterday and she apologized and gave some excuse. They then say they are sending out another replacement and send me the tracking number. ONCE AGAIN, it still says label created almost 24 hours later. I will NEVER shop with this company again. I now have to order from Leslies and then when I get that box (because the other one was thrown out) and return this defective product. If you go and read their BBB reviews (which I should have done first), you would never shop with this company again either.

I called and spoke with a customer care representative who was unable to assist me directly but quickly transferred me to someone who could help.
That amazing person was Veronica Foster. Ms. Foster swiftly reviewed everything, developed a game plan, and executed a new order for me—all while we were still on the phone. Customer service like this is hard to come by, and I'm grateful for the competent staff over at Doheny's!
