My experience working at Dryad Networks

I worked at Dryad Networks. I normally wouldn’t write something like this, but after my experience there I think people should know what I saw from inside the company.

What bothered me most was the difference between how the product was presented externally and what we actually knew internally. Partners and customers could be given the impression that the technology was fully operational and ready, while internally we were aware that there were still important gaps. Some parts of the product didn’t work consistently and, in my experience, there were cases where the detection performance wasn’t where it was being presented to be.

I also became very uncomfortable with how some partner opportunities were handled. There were situations where the focus seemed to be on getting POs signed even though there were serious questions internally about budget, delivery capacity and whether the company could actually fulfil what was being discussed with the partner. From my side, there was often a big difference between the commercial message and the reality inside the company.

The culture made everything worse. It was honestly one of the most toxic working environments I’ve experienced. People were under a lot of pressure, questioning decisions wasn’t always well received, and many of the problems came from the way the company was being managed.

There are some genuinely good and talented people working at Dryad, and this isn’t directed at them. My issue is with the leadership, the way the product was represented and the way expectations were set with partners compared with what I experienced internally.
