Outstanding surgeon — couldn't have asked for better!

I had a vitrectomy performed by Dr. Veysel Aykut at Dünya Göz Ataşehir on October 4th, 2025, and I can honestly say he's one of the best doctors I've ever encountered.
From the very first consultation, Dr. Aykut was warm, approachable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. He never made me feel rushed or anxious — and going into a vitrectomy, that kind of reassurance really matters. You could immediately sense his deep experience and expertise; he carried himself with a calm confidence that put me completely at ease before the operation.
The procedure itself went smoothly, and his precision and skill were evident throughout the entire process. Recovery started well, and I credit that largely to how expertly the operation was handled.
If you're dealing with any retinal or vitreous issues and are looking for a surgeon you can truly trust, Dr. Veysel Aykut is absolutely the person to go to. Highly, highly recommended.

Exceptional Care from Start to Finish – A Life-Changing Experience

I recently traveled to Istanbul for laser eye surgery at Dunyagoz Hospital, and the entire experience exceeded all my expectations.

From the first contact, communication was seamless. I reached out to the hospital directly and was connected via WhatsApp, which made planning easy and stress-free. The service was outstanding, including complimentary pickup from my hotel and a free overnight stay at the hospital for observation—a thoughtful touch that demonstrated their commitment to patient care.

A huge thank you to Aziz, my translator and assistant, who answered every question with patience and professionalism. He made me feel comfortable, informed, and well-looked after throughout my visit.

The team was transparent and upfront about all costs, which were surprisingly reasonable and more affordable than quotes I received from local agents. There were no hidden fees, just clear, honest pricing.

My surgery was performed by Dr. Haluk Talu, an expert with over 30,000 procedures to his name. It was clear from the consultation that Dr. Talu is a master of his craft. He thoroughly assessed my eyes, recommended the best treatment for my specific needs, and performed the procedure with incredible skill and confidence. I felt I was in the safest hands possible.

The results have been life-changing. The professionalism, expertise, and genuine care I received at Dunyagoz were exceptional. I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone considering eye surgery. Thank you to the entire team for your excellent service and for looking after me so well.

Disapointing experience

I was traveling to Turkiye and I had 10 days stay in Istanbul, and because recently my vision had declined and needed glasses , I thought to check about options for lasik. I had lasik 10 years ago in USA, that served me good up untill now. So we called to get consultation (I had my daughter to get second opinion for her condition also). We went to Etiler location. imediately we weere sent to the internationl counter, where after registering they charged $180.00 each ( much more expensive than expected), anyway i thought ill get a good service. After initial basic eye exam the doctor said he needs to run a lot more test for me and my daughter, with paper on my hand we went to the counter to find out that the additional cost for the test were $2000.00 for me and $1800.00 for my daughter. This were just the test not including the surgery. We had spent about 2 hours and we still didnt even get the full initial exam completed, (the exam on the back of the cornea). with a big disapointment we left the hospital. It was waste of my time and money.

Shameful Experience

I had a no touch surgery. They said my eyes would get better in 2.5-3 months. However, despite 3.5 months, one of my eyes did not fully heal. When I called the hospital and requested a check-up regarding this situation, they said they could not take me in for a check-up without paying a fee. If there is still a problem after the recovery period they specified to the patient, they should take the patient in for a free check-up. This shameful situation is unacceptable. The doctor who performed the operation, Bayram Yapıcı.

Terrifying experience

I had PRK operation by Dr. Basak Bostanci in this hospital. At the beginning of operation they discussed that the technician who set the machine was not experience enough but agreed to move on. During the operation on my left eye they realized settings of the laser machine was not correct. They stop the operation however already damaged my eye. They couldn't measure how deep is the damage therefore couldn't continue to the operation. I took all the pain during recovery but my eye still +3. They told me they can do another operation one month later but when i got a second opinion from a doctor they said i need to wait at least 6 months. In addition the hospital didn't provide me my medical file which is a basic patient right in everywhere in the world. There was a total chaos in surgery where people yell each other. Right after i stand up under the machine, they told me they can refund half of the price! I was so worried about my eye if i would be able to see or not but they were already discussing about money! After a week I told them i came all the way from the Netherlands, won't be able to work at least 10 days and because of their fault I need to do this again which is more costly than surgery itself. But they only said they are sorry about it and cannot do more. They accepted their fault but did not care anything to make it right. I feel like they are so experience to handle these situations and your health and comfort meaningless. They did not take any responsibility. I wouldn't recommend here anybody.

Great experience with excellent…

Dünya Göz in Istanbul Etiler

At the Dünya Göz Etiler facilty, a smart lens surgery was performed on me by Dr. Fevzi Akkan. During the consultation I was told that with these lenses I will not be needing to wear any glasses for my near or far vision. However, my vision is worse than it was before. Prior to the procedure, I was nearsighted. Now my near and far vision is blurry. Four months after the procedure, Dr. Fevzi Akkan performed some kind of laser treatment to solve the problem. However, it has not helped a bit. In fact, the laser treatment made it even worse. It has been very frustrating to have paid almost $5000 to improve my vision, but then to end up needing to wear glasses. My ophthalmologist suspects that instead of the promised lenses, which are more expensive, different lenses may have been used.

I have contacted Dünya Göz again to give them another opportunity to finally resolve the problem. I will update my review if and when the problem has been resolved.

Baby strabismus surgery

My daughter had strabismus surgery performed by Op. Dr. Tülay Arıcı. The surgery went very well and we are happy with the results. Me, my husband and the baby stayed at the hospital for two days after the surgery. We had a convenient stay. My daughter was being checked regularly by the doctors who also helped with placing her eye drops. The hospital also has translators from Turkish to Bulgarian, English and other languages.

My headline would be “DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL, Not even pass by” I went to Acıbadem branch to have a specific eye test that I had paid 460TL two years ago, this time they initially asked for 710TL which was ok given the cost of rise in Türkiye, as soon as I handed the money in. The receptionist there told me that she made a mistake, the charge for the test should have been 6700TL. It is absolutely disgrace that they charge such an astronomical price for a test that technician will spend 5 mins to press a button to print out the cornea map to give us the count of the cells, no doctors involvement whatsoever. The same test in the uk is £65.. rip off hospital…

I was very fortunate to be directed to…

I was very fortunate to be directed to Dunyagoz Eye Hospital in Izmir Turkey. I had an eye emergency while on a tour in Turkey on 9 November 2023, and our tour guide was told that I should see an eye specialist as soon as possible. I learned that I needed emergency surgery for a detached retina. Dr Cüneyt Erdurman provided excellent care and follow-up. Dr Erdurman explained in English the treatment plan and aftercare and was always professional and kind. His care and the assistance from his staff really helped me deal with being in an emergency medical situation in a foreign country. Sinem and Deniz were very helpful with translation so that I could understand the entire process. They also took care of getting my paperwork together to submit to my insurance. They were always friendly, courteous, and respectful of my situation. I've told many people in the US about how fortunate I was to be in this state-of-the-art hospital.

worst eye hospital in turkey

I was examined by Dr LALE in January 2020, treatment suitableP617260-LASEK Wavefront right & left & eye,laser & booster.To get an expert opinion they sent me to Dr Ercument,they took my number to give me an appointment,they didn't call me,no one knew when I came to the appointment,they didn't know which dr I came to see Dr Ercument Bozkurt looked at my test results,said i was suitable for laser, my cornea shape was thin & steep;the healing process would take a week,only stinging & burning would occur & I could return to my normal life.i was directed to Pınar to get price information,I asked for a price for the package treatment & I could not get it.she told me that if I made the payment today the price would be discounted & she gave me an Iban number.she gave me her own business card for communication,I returned to London & sent an e-mail for surgery date;she didn't respond.I persistently asked for number or e-mail address of dr or assistant;they ignored me.I came for surgery in March 2020;same examinations were done again.By looking at my cornea shape,Pınar told me healing process would take 1week & there would only be burning & stinging.I went to the accounting department & made payment.I was given laser surgery & strengthening treatment.It was said that it would be done but the booster that they said was paid for was not in the EPICRIZ REPORT.when I asked if a booster was necessary or if it could be done at a different date,I was told that it definitely needed to be done.i paid 8750 TL.I wanted to take off my make-up before the surgery,they tried to take me into surgery with make-up on.I met with Pınar & asked if I should remove my make-up & tests again as I am coming after 3 months;consultation was not held & I saw my dr at the time of the surgery;before the surgery,the acceptance documents were signed by Pinar without being giving me the chance to read them.I went to the prep room for the surgery,the employee who prepared me was quite young & inexperienced.He helped me put on the apron & bonnet.When I told him that my make-up needed to be removed,he said there was no need,I asked him if he was sure & whether I would see the dr for the last time.He told me that he was waiting in his room ready & they applied numbing drops to my eyes even though I was wearing make-up.When I entered the operating room,the dr was waiting & did not speak.When I laid down on the operating bed,I didnt feel comfortable because I was going into the eye surgery with eye make-up & I told the dr that I wanted to clean it,the dr said it wasn't necessary.I wanted to get up & remove my make-up & since there was no cleansing products I cleaned my numb eyes with a wet wipes as much as I could.I entered the operating room again & the surgery started without any word.The dr performed the laser treatment & left the operating room after saying that he was done & gave the rest of the strengthening treatment to his assistant.no information was given to me after the treatment.When I left the surgery I met with Pınar;She told me I would be fine within 1week after the surgery & there would only be burning & stinging.they inserted Lenses into my eyes to protect them & they would be removed after 4days & would be checked by another dr because the dr who performed the surgery was on leave that day.They gave me a prescription for eye drops but they didnt give me any help on how to get to my hotel even though I came unaccompanied.I took taxi to my hotel,my eyes were numb;I had to find a pharmacy before it was too late.I experienced burning,stinging &tearing for 4days & went to the hospital on the 4th day due to extreme discomfort in left eye;they told me that there was a dr on duty.dr on duty examined my eyes,he said that the left eye was infected & prescribed drops.it was Sunday & the pharmacies were closed & only pharmacy that was open didnt have drops in stock so i couldnt use the eye drops.I went for a checkup on Monday dr Serdar said the lenses should be removed but the lens in the left eye was missing & that could be the reason for yesterday's discomfort.On Thursday the 7th day of the surgery I had check-up with Dr Ercument;After examination,I told him that I had blurred vision & he told me for the 1st time that blurry vision was normal & it would last 2-3 weeks.I couldn't believe what I heard i asked him why he didnt tell me before.the lens in my left eye was lost in my eye for 6weeks despite 17follow up & scans of my eyes;the lens came out my eye after i came to uk.its been more than 3years now & my left eye still feels sore & both uncomfortably,dry feel extremely sensitive to every type of light & sun.i am under the care of nhs & using medicated eye drops daily.they refused to do anything about the complaint i filed,didnt refund & didn't compensate anything;they got a lawyer to call me to threaten me not to step foot into any of their hospitals

Dunyagoz is an example for professionalism and experience

I’ve been visitting Dunyagoz for a little over 10 years now and all I can say is a big thank you!

Most recently prof. Anil Kubaloglu saved me from a very tough situation with my transplanted cornea and I’m immensely grateful to him every time for his professionalism, hard work and always being kind to the patient, explaining in detail and listening to my feedback.

I would also want to thank Suzan Haliloglu from Dunyagoz who helped me with bookings, questions in my native language, and all the staff from international department at Etiler, who are always by my side to help with anything!

Honestly I find this hospital as an example for top-notch eyecare! ❤️

I have had my lens replacement here, the service was fantastic. The results were perfect. However, I needed to get adjusted to the limitations, but I would do it all over again.

Dr Anıl Kubaloğlu quickly and…

Dr Anıl Kubaloğlu quickly and accurately diagnosed our daughter, something that doctors back home had not been able to do for years. He then stopped the progression of the disease with medication and surgery. The staff at the clinic have always been very friendly and helpful, especially Elif Dağlı, who we still contact with various questions and always get the right advice.

I was happily surprised the first time…

I was happily surprised the first time I entered DonyaGoz eye hospital in istanbul. Great location, beautiful natural surroundings, awesome enterance, and most cheerful and helpful host-translator Mr. Huseyin.
At a different floor with comfortable well set reception Ms Elif Dagli made me feel welcome. But most important I felt safe and in the 100% right place.
The friendly, qualified, clear worded, and cheerful Dr Toygar topped it with a comprehensive examination. My condition was clearly and exactly described to me. The glasses prescription was certainly first class. My cataracts status well defined.
That very good experience came once again in my second visit. My due time is drawing near and I feel good to come to my eyes care-home soon.

Fantastic hospital with great customer service

I flew from the UK to have my eye surgery done and I have no regrets about doing so. Elif was great in communicating with me and arranged my transfers from the airport to the hospital and provided me with a translator so the experience really put me at ease. Dr Anil was well informed and answered all my questions and concerns about the surgery and the aftercare. The hospital itself was clean, easily navigable and provided food and WiFi during my stay. Overall, my experience at dunyagoz was positive and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for laser eye surgery.
