DVDExploder really works

I discovered DVDExploder a few years ago when I successfully unlocked an LG player to watch my UK DVDs abroad. So when I bought a Samsung home theatre system I was in no doubt whose website to visit. The particular South American model was not listed in DVDExploder's extensive lists but it was part of a range of similar models so I tried the relevant input code. Unfortunately it did not work. However I realised I might be pressing a wrong button as the controller for my unlisted machine seemed to have a different layout to the one in the instructions. I pressed the right button and the player unlocked first try.

Dear Reader,

Take a note from Philip's book -

RE: Samsung HT-J5530K Blu-ray Player

Here we find a man with the guts and determination to beat Big Name Manufacturers at their own game. Sometimes all it takes is that little extra push to make a player region free.

The hack we provide was listed for a number of Samsung HT-J players - a DVDExploder original. However, experimentation took this player from small time zone prevention, to big league region free status - 'first try'.

The team can only thank Philip in his work, using a DVD handset code to unlock his device - and proves a case in point -

Sometimes all it takes is a nudge, even for an unlisted player to free itself from the shackles of zoning misery. One simple button press away from our current code and the job was successful.

As for the LG player, they go with the territory and are easily busted with one of our handset missiles.

Please remember, creativity goes a long way. We try our best to provide the most accurate information on the Internet, although communication and some foresight can be key.

A big roar of applause to you my friend. The naysayers that have rebuffed our hard work and research need look no further than this project to see how a tiny jolt in handset configuration can cause a dramatic DVD transformation.

We take our hats off to you - and invite all DVD player owners worldwide to join our DVD unlock code project.

All the best - and as I say to our hard working crew - TEST TEST TEST!

Happy days - Paul & Team

Radio Silence; Enter at your own risk

After registering, I determined after multiple attempts that none of the listed unlock sequences would work for my Toshiba dvd player. After notifying DVDExploder of this, I received an email on 7/9 acknowledging my message, a promise to find a solution, and a request to try the listed codes again. (Just in case, I guess, the first 15 times they didn't work were a fluke?) Despite multiple emails sent to them since that date (containing the same email chain, as they request), I have received no response. Given the positive testimonials I have seen, I would like to think that this is not a bait and switch scam I have fallen for. But, maybe they assume most people who do not receive a working unlock code will simply write off the $11 registration fee and forget about it. Given that they do not respond when contacted, posting a review outlining my experience is my only recourse.

Dear Johnny,

Explanatory response, reply to 'Jamila' - updated addendum.

Many thanks for your review. It has flagged further issues with reference to 'rapid emails response' using our hosting account. The trouble being, if we change providers, our website could be down for months. As soon as we found your email during the week, we sent an email in hope that you may re-evaluate your relationship with us.

A few recent emails did indeed go awry, and we were horrified after reading yours. In no way do we wish to sound distant from our members and hope that all will be resolved. We were so pleased to hear back from you relating to the firmware information requested. We have 'eight' individual codes for the Toshiba SD3990 DVD player and were amazed you could not get any of them to work..

If you look at our reviews as a whole, you'll note that they are either 1 Star or 5 - boom or bust. It's either a case of 'Yes - you guys are great', or a response pertaining to a reply time. We aim to offer a first class customer experience, yourself included. We could call this the Johnny or Jamila effect!

In your case, we're offering you continued access to the database, even after refunding your registration. Is that really the case for a 1 Star review?. Our testimonials page is 100% and true - all emails stored for future referral.

All the best - and here's to a more constructive relationship.

Here's a great quote from 2001: A Space Odyssey -

"HAL 9000: I'm completely operational, and all my circuits are functioning perfectly."

As someone who is virtually …

As someone who is virtually antediluvian when it come to technology, I felt incredibly smug on being able to unlock my Daewoo player successfully.
The DVD exploder website was easy to access and understand and the instructions worked perfectly. My husband was first stunned and then impressed! The DVD exploder team were helpful, patient and professional.
I would recommend them to anyone. Joan Rundle

Revised Review - No Communication At All

Further to my poor review of Dvdexploder I have had a number of e-mails from the company apologising for their delayed response and the trouble I was experiencing in unlocking my DVD player. They are working on solving the problem and have been very responsive. Hopefully they will be able to find a solution for my specific player. I will keep you posted!

I had some difficulty accessing the database and had much help from the service team and found it to be something as simple as allowing pop-ups in browser. Finding the data for my old Sony DVR player, was easy and worked right away. I had previously purchased a "magic" remote control that only made things worse.

Great did what it said it would first go.

I have a Samsung BD-E5500 Blu Ray player and was given a few Region 2 DVDs which it wouldn't play. Found DVDEXPLODER on line, signed up, logged in and found my player in a few seconds. Read the instructions and decided to use the RETURN button rather than the REPEAT button as it was better marked on my controler. Followed the instructions easily and did exactly what the instructions said to do and it worked first time. Tried a Region 2 DVD and settled down to watch the movie.

Well Worth The Price.

I have a Toshiba model SD-4100 in the backroom. Using the info on the DVD Exploder site I was able to make it region free. There were a set of different numbered ways to try. On the 5th try it worked. I tried a region 2 DVD movie and it worked perfect. My DVD player is region 0. I am now at work getting my Sony DVD player in the front room region free. One down. One to go. Thank you very much DVDexploder. YOU GUYS RULE!

Worth twice the price.

Dear Sir,
Having received a number of DVD’s as a gift by post from New Zealand I found that I was unable to play them as their region code was incompatible with that of the UK.

I looked online for a method by which I could convert the dvd player of my Sony RDR-HX725 dvd Recorder to an international coding and found DVDExploder.

The site advises the need for a basic Universal Remote Control to programme the player and offers a number of free coding options for a number of makes and types of player but I decided to purchase the licence which gave me access the full range of coding options. I purchased a URC from Amazon for £5.49 and with the cost of the licence I now have a Sony DVD recorder in which the player will now play dvd’s from anywhere for a total of £15.00.

The programming instructions are very easy to follow and in the event of problems the support team at DVDExploder offer an exemplary service.

I was very fortunate to find this website.

no support

I have just subscribed to Dvdexploder because none of the free region code unlocking suggestions worked. I mistakenly assumed that because this site required me to pay a fee, they might have more information. Unfortunately, their unlocking code was the same as the free sites. I realised that I willingly parted with £4.99, even though they offered no Ts & Cs and that's my fault, but when I tried to send an email to the support site, I was informed that there was no such address so I tried their other suggestion to an 'unlocked' address and found that also doesn't exist...what's going on here?

This review strikes me as rather humourous actually, although it damages our reputation. Oh Susan, where do I start?

It seems that the fact 'every' webpage sports a natty support address printed at the bottom has alluded you. Using a correct email address would have been answered with prompt suggestions to help you in your struggle. I hazard a guess that your particular struggle goes beyond that of entering a DVD code and magnifies to that of actually spelling email addresses correctly.

We have had no contact from you whatsoever and are at a loss to help in such circumstances. What DVD player do you need unlocking for a start? Please, we're here to help. Throw us a bone. All you've seemed to do here is write us up as a naughty company and charged us with lame excuses as to why we deserve one star.

Non working email addresses? Totally unfounded. No T&Cs? Totally unfounded - they're obvious on our sales page, close to the big 'register' box. The fact that our codes are hijacked then copied to 'free' sites by illiterate posters is not our fault.
You have to be very precise with these region solutions, or they won't work by default. Indeed, if not 'pirated' correctly to message boards, desperate to bump their rampant advertising hit page habit.

My guess here. You registered for our services, mucked up the one handset code you needed and didn't have the common decency to try to contact us in a more mannered fashion. The irony here is that you still have full access to the database, have made no further contact with us - and are probably just rubbishing us to fulfil an inane psychological desire to recoup the small fee we are forced to charge to keep our heads above water. Our accountant alone costs £120 a month!

Susan, this may have come across as a little cautic, but smaller companies like us have to defend ourselves against such nonsense, especially when potential registrants may doubt us, in part, down to the awesome decision making prowess of Trustpilot's team of five, yes five review administrators. Must be a lively crew considering the company's size and power. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this one. Even we have a bigger team base than that.

Finally, (I must stop rambling for fear of being thrown into the very same Susan 'wonk' bin I've created) - thank you Truspilot for defending us against this type of review. Further sarcasm, sorry. The reviewer has blatantly broken your rules around false allegations and kindly left us looking like a shifty crew of email dodging phonies.

I sign off with the relief of getting this one star fiasco off my chest. All the best dear reader - and to Susans the world over, pure of heart. Remember, just because it's written with Trustpilot, doesn't make it true. Please Google for clarification.

All the best - Paul

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for your review. It's much appreciated when a member takes time out to offer positive feedback with reference to a tricky region unlock. I hope you don't mind me sharing that you refer to the unlocking of your Panasonic DMR-EX86EB DVD Recorder, using one of our other DMR-EX codes as a template.

It was a pleasure to help and a further pleasure to deal with an open and communicative registrant. Here at DVDExploder, we find it really useful when a lady like yourself responds kindly to our emails or phone calls, allowing a constructive procedure to take place and an ultimately successful unlock sequence to activate.

Thanks again and all the best in 2016.

Sincerely - Paul :)

Highly Recommended.

I recommend dvdexploder highly - helpful and reliable.

The suggested sequence unlocked my Panasonic DMR-BWT740 PVR/Blu-ray Recorder on the second attempt.

For the sequence to work, one needs an up to date URC. And full concentration on the task in hand, when entering the sequence, to ensure that the URC led flashes exactly as outlined on dvdexploder. If the sequence seems not to work, keep trying carefully. Failure is more than likely due to simple user errors in entering the codes than to any unlikely errors in the codes outlined on dvdexploder.

Dvdexploder is very reliable and membership is cheap at the price.

A Fantastic Experience

Thank you to Dvdexploder for solving my issue. I couldn't locate my dvd player in the list of codes and emailed them for advice. They promptly emailed me back with a solution. The code worked! I couldn't believe it as I am not very good with this sort of thing and felt that I had achieved something incredible. Paul and the team were just wonderful. Hi Kim,

Your positive feedback means a great deal to us - and we're happy to have unlocked your Samsung HT-F5550W Blu-ray Home Theatre System. As you'll have noticed, if a code does not match your specific player description, we can always make a tweak or suggestion to make your device region free.

We are always pleased to investigate loopholes in player software to make the tapping of DVD handset controller codes as simple as possible. In your case success was simply a matter of communication between parties and your emails were very polite. Thank you.

And you did do something incredible! Giving Samsung a little boot in the bottom so you can watch all discs on your player is very satisfying all round. Well done to you. Myself and the team have a smile on our faces too. Congratulations on the use of the unlock sequence provided - and drop us a line any time, for further help or guidance with reference to any DVD or Blu-ray product you have in mind.

Rip off

I did online searching before I came up with nothing. So I found dvdexploder and decided to give it a try since I seen they had a solution for my DVD model. NOPE, they had the same solutions i had already found by myself online. So I got in contact with them for either a solution or refund and was offered a parcial refund with the benefit of being able to still access their website. IT DOESN'T WORK! Why would I still want access to it? Well thanks for making me feel ripped off.

Hi David,

The team and I are very sorry at your frustration here and are extremely disappointed that your review has appeared in such a manner. Here at DVDExploder it is our aim to provide every registrant with a working unlock sequence, off the bat.

In many many instances this happens and I have just sent you an email, outlining a suggestion that may improve our relationship and make your player region free in the future. It seems the codes described are not working for your particular model. This can happen from time to time when manufactures alter internal software design - and it's our job to solve these issues on your behalf. It's what we're here for!

I agree that you may not require access to our site when a single code we have provided has not activated. However, as you'll see from other reviews, you can unlock as many players as you like, along with the other services provided.

As you will have found, sometimes it can take a little time and effort to get these sequences to 'click'. You have been very courteous in your emails and the transaction would have been sorted naturally through your payment provider. I have offered you continued free access to the website and hope we can work amicably from here.

It seems that the nature of TrustPilot, for us, is either 5 stars or 1 and I hope we can meet somewhere in the middle - so we can both benefit from ongoing communication until your unlock has been cracked. In the meantime, the database is open to for you to unlock any other player and use the other services we provide.

Panasonic DMR-PWT500 - True to their word

I contacted DVDExploder with reference to my Panasonic DMR-PWT500 player and registered after they assured me of the codes they had available. I took faith in their courteous reply, logged in and tested the three codes available. To my surprise, my Panasonic player was unlocked within ten minutes.

I'm very impressed with their service and the manner in which they dealt with my 'stupid' questions. I'm not very tech savvy, but they helped me out all the way. What more can I say? A great service that nobody else seems to offer and a region free player. I can now play the cheap DVDs my son imports from the US and China. I have also unlocked my cousin's player using the database's unlocks. She was very surprised that this could be even be done!

Hi Philip,

I'm very pleased we were of service to you - and your cousin. I wonder what player she managed to unlock? If you have the time, maybe you could furnish us with this information. Panasonic DVD players are notoriously difficult to unlock and the team are happy that your player version was compatible with the PWT range of codes.

We are always here to help if you have any further questions or need unlocks for other players. People often forget that after registration, a member can use as many sequences as they like for an entire year, personally or for friends and family. We have to draw a line at retailers using our sequences, as they should be stocking devices region free in the first place. If you need any advice with reference to other devices you may have at home, or the other six services you have been provided with, please give us a shout.

I did not get what I paid for

I strongly advise AGAINST registering to dvdexploder.com
Following the registration, I could not find the model of my LG player, I tried a software unlock which should work for the whole series, however it did not work for my player.
I sent an email to inquire about the unlock, and it has been 3 days now after the email I sent through which I received no response at all, I even sent another email yesterday and still no response from their Customer Service.
This invalidates the promises listed on their website, for example, Promise 1: All enquiry emails will be answered promptly, preferably within 24 hours.
I had high expectations from dvdexploder.com, but now it seems to me that I got ripped off.
Accordingly, I will be seeking a reimbursement from PayPal.

Update:
Following my above review, I received a reply from DVDExploder, they said that they are working on finiding an unlock for my player and offered me a refund if I was willing to take it. This is why I modified my previous rating from 1 star to 2 stars. I told them that if they could not find an unlock for my player within a reasonable time frame, then I would definietly need a refund. I will keep you posted with further updates.

99% of our unlock codes use the DVD player's own handset controller, but in a few instances, a simple software download will suffice. We try to make life as easy as possible for our members at DVDExploder and apologise that you did not receive your username and password immediately. I'm happy that we have sorted this out between us. Password issues can arise when you are not immediately redirected to the password generator. However, this is never a problem, as we can easily create login details for you manually.
