Recently I tried to get an upgrade to their Cook'n software. They charged my credit card but never gave me a link or any other means of getting the upgrade for the software. When I contacted them about this they said I was not allowed to buy an upgrade to their software since I was not a member of one of their membership plans. The place on their web site that I ordered the upgrade from did not mention anything about needing to purchase any membership plan. But even though they are now saying I needed to buy a membership plan they did not refund the money they had already charged my credit card.

On a personal note I think these membership plans are just a way to rip off of customers. You have to pay big bucks for the software and then force the customer to pay even more each month just to use it.

I bought Cook'n recipe software from dvo.com and saw how comprehensive and great the product was. I realized though, that the software was not perfect for my purposes and did not handle my attempts to change measuring units to my local settings very well. This was a specific demand for me and I am sure that if you live in a country using the same measurements as the U.S. this software is absolutely perfect. In the end I asked for a refund and dvo.com handled this fast, effecient and polite. And they really do stand by their very generous refundpolicy.
