Worst airline and customer service

Worst airline and customer service. Cancelled flight, fully paid flight, with no remorse a few days to departure. No help or compassion with refund expected in 21 working days leaving passengers to look for alternative flights without refund during peak season. Worse still is the tone of customer service, no remorse, no sympathy

Fatal safety issues. Please do not use this airline

The door to the airplane started leaking during the flight (yes, in the air). Took several minutes before any staff addressed the issue. Just today found out F-540, Eastafrican and Fly-SAX is owned and operated by the same company (10 killed in Fly-SAX Aberdares plane crash in 2018). Never flying with my kid with this company again.

On our return flight, the flight was cancelled at the airport with no explanation and no options to refund. No staff was available to assist us and we had to book other tickets, incurring extra accommodation costs (which the airline didn't cover).

I tried giving the company the benefit of the doubt and recently booked another set of flights with them. These were cancelled and the company has gone into a payment freeze. Customer service is useless and unable to process my refund request.

Cancelled our flights after taking 130k…

Cancelled our flights after taking 130k in shillings knowing they would pull this stunt later. No refund to date and nobody to chase except the agent i speak to who use hopeless at best.
Fly with them if you wish to loose money and enjoy awful customer service.
The former employees at Ukunda air strip jumped ship to another airline due to delays in salaries

Terrible.

Terrible.. Rescheduled my flight. Please avoid at all costs. I used for the first time and I will never use again. I was not wise enough to read other reviews but they seem to always reschedule. Just avoid the disappointments.

Worst Airline Ever!!

This is the worst airline of all times. AVOID FLYING WITH THEM.
From lack of communication to last minute rescheduling to make sure no one follows up in their offices.
I had a flight from Nairobi-Lamu(return) on the 24th of June at 3pm. They write a message to all passengers 23rd at around noon that the flight has been moved from 3pm to 7am same day. And even then, there was a serious delay till 10am and we had to be moved to JKIA, Fly 540.
My return was Sunday 26th, flight at 5pm and same thing happened, i received a message on the 25th, 2pm that flight has been moved from 5 to 8.30am. Giving you an option of refund.
WHICH NEVER HAPPENS.
There's a reason people book how they book and delays are understandable, but moving a flight 8hours before actual departure, is absurd. I didn't get to finish my work and i wasted a whole day, sunday, of paid accomodation and activities.
I was literally forced to go to and come back.

Fraudster -East African airways

We booked Malindi flight to depart on 17th Jun on East African but it's the eve,that we received email that we had been rebooked on another Carrier. The new airline 748 had no information and after back and forth with East African, we were forced to purchase new tickets. They shamelessly told us there was nothing they could do. No response to emails and calls.
I have emailed to regulatory bodies.

First rescheduled - then cancelled - then no refund

Our flight was first rescheduled to a departure time 6 hours earlier than planned. Then the flight got cancelled the night before departure. We have called and emailed several times. They keep on promising that they will refund the money, but they don't do it.

Bad All Round

Communication was appalling! Flight delayed... recieved a text 👍🏻 after that no member of staff or digital communication at all 👎. We were moved to various areas of the terminal & even onto the plane but at each stage we sat for 45min to an hour with no progress... on the plane there was no AC or WC access while we sat on the tarmac. We waited from 9.45am until 2.45pm before we finally got in the air. The plane itself was old & the ventilation was poor... a very sweaty flight was had by all. I won't ever choose this airline again, in fact we are purchasing an alternative flight from Diani back to Nairobi!!! Bad all round.

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful! There was a State Funeral the day we flew. Air Space closed- no one told us! They left us in the lounge delayed for over 2 hours with no communication. Eventually took us to the gate, then after another wait I asked what was happening. They cancelled the flight until the next day! With ANOTHER hour and a half delay and a flat tyre in Lamu! Just dreadful..

SHADY AIRLINE TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS

SHADY AIRLINE TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My travel agent booked for me and my family a return flight, Nairobi (Wilson Airport) - Ukunda on 24 April 2022, return on 29 April 2022.

EastAfrican.com, Fly540, and Sax are are now operating together as one company but they are all hopeless. Was scheduled to depart for Ukunda at 9.45 am but finally only departed around 2pm. Worst of all at around 12.30, a departure was attempted by Fly540 old Dash plane that rattled on the runway and took off shaking like it was going to break into pieces. It didn’t gain height so it kept flying low near the ground for some time and after about 10 min or so the pilot decided to head back to Wilson by which time many passengers were saying their last prayers expecting the worst to happen. We landed back and were instructed to leave all our hand luggage on the plane since it was going to take a few minutes to ‘reset the instruments’ before we take off again.
A team of engineers descended on the plane doing all manner of repairs. I was very uncomfortable having to use the same plane as were other passengers but we had not other option. We only managed to depart the second time around 2pm with the same plane but it was not stable. So any air bump scared passengers stiff. It took 1hr 20 min to arrive at the destination. I have never been that terrified imagining that I will perish with my family even though I’ve flown countless times. On touch down some passengers prayed loudly as it was a terrifying flight for everyone.

Return flight on 29th April 2022, original departure time was 13:30 hrs but a day before, I was informed that departure had been brought forward to 11:55 hrs. On checking in at Ukunda we were told the landing would now be at Jomo Kenyatta Airport (JKIA) and not Wilson. After around an hour past scheduled departure time we were informed that the landing had been rescheduled back to Wilson. We departed around 13:30 for Wilson airport but just before landing the pilot informed us that he had been instructed to land at JKIA.

The plane from Ukunda was an EastAfrican.com branded Dash aircraft so I was a bit relieved that it was not Fly540 that had given me butterflies in the stomach. Unfortunately, the cabin was stinking, and there were houseflies hovering all over the cabin. The air conditioning was not working properly. We were sweating in the sweltering coastal heat and could only cool ourselves by fanning with the flight safety instruction cards. The flight attendants and pilot were not bothered. We had to travel in such a foul environment for 1hr 10min. Indeed it’s a ROTTEN AIRLINE.

I had arranged for airport taxi pickup from Wilson so I instructed my taxi to go to JKIA then back to Wilson but landed in JKIA instead so the taxi had to come back to JKIA. I had to pay so much money for all the taxi trips between JKIA and Wilson Airport because of the disorganization by the airline.

One of the Most Unprofessional Airlines in My Travel Experience

Unprofessional, unethical, unresponsive, irresponsible, non-transparent...these are the words that comes to mind when thinking about our experience with East African airlines. This is a Safari express airlines based out of Nairobi, Kenya who flies to safari spots, resort locations. We booked out tickets and due to the global pandemic, everything was cancelled. This airlines has given the most grief with close to no information, no transparency about what they are doing during this global emergency, nothing. Disgusting. NEVER EVER>>>>DID I SAY NEVER trust this airlines. The cost of my lesson learned $761.31
