I like the idea of planting trees, and ecosia worked as a search engine, but every time I did a search, besides pulling up results, it opened another tab which was the ecosia search page. By the end... See more

I could not even find news articles

I could not even find news articles I was searching for, which I could find via other search engines, results were limited in number but one thing was very clear though they use bing as infrastructure whom already do quite some policing ecosia adds some more policing no matter what you do.
If news is censored, I cannot trust them. Especially in these times.

Ecosia Review

Ecosia is a good search engine because it helps the environment however it doesn't compare to google or Microsoft Bing because of its lack of AI and poor answers as it does give it to you it just lists websites, and you have to find the information yourself. Its good if you want to be ecofriendly but bad if you are researching stuff in general.

Incredible concept

Brilliant idea, and fun to use!

Only downside is that search results seem to be based on Bing, so not the very best. Often you end up needing Google anyway.

Its rubbish

Its rubbish. My employer has adopted it for our corporate search engine, but the only thing I use it for now is to search for and open Google which is a bit of a ball-ache but at least I can find what I'm looking for before I need another haircut. Jeez Ecosia is slow!

Do not rely on the short AI-GENERATED summary

I searched to check if cornflour is gluten free, thinking it was, but just to be sure. Their automated summary of Holland and Barrett's page gets it 100% wrong (as you can tell by visiting the actual link). so... DO NOT RELY ON THE AI-GENERATED SUMMARY.

Everything You Need To Know About Cornflour | Holland & Barrett
Cornflour is a finely powdered starch from corn kernels that is used for thickening and binding in cooking. It is not gluten free and may affect blood sugar levels and heart health, so some alternatives are arrowroot, tapioca and potato starch."

Really good

It's very good now! They've improved the search engine and I recommend it to my family. They've completely removed the tree counter though.

sceptical at first but still good

at first i felt suspicious but then i looked into it and it wasn't that bad i still feel sceptical about it because planting that many trees that's pretty hard and i don't know how you could plant a tree about every second i can see because there's a live counter at the bottom left i tried it out googles faster though. But if they really are doing all this then well done ecosia

Getting help on ecosia

the ai is not on everyones account and some questions you ask it the ai takes a long time to give an answer and then the answer is terrible. I also think the help page does not give you what you asked it for and is not a step by step instruction on what to do. It could also make it more obvious where to see the ecosia news and financial reports.

Google Translate? You have to be kidding...

I used to put up with Ecosia being rather slow and vague [as if they are guessing the whole time] but now Ecosia has started using Google translate as their main option for translation. Whereas anyone that speaks non-american as their first language knows that google cannot translate anything correctly ever. If I am going to get Google rammed down my throat I might as well use the Google search engine which works a lot better than the slow and vague Ecosia

Inspiring cause...

Inspiring cause...
Despite what some of the bad reviews say Ecosia is a great company that is striving to be carbon neutral and allowing society to be a part of it.

It may not be as user friendly as Google but they have been around for years and years. Give them a chance.

There always is room for improvement and I'd recommend that they adopt a similar layout for when you search for businesses on Google, it clear and easy to get information quickly.

Overall a great company with a great cause striving to better our world.

Fantastic quick search engine

Fantastic quick search engine. Has been my default search engine for a few years now. Doing your bit for the planet is a pull factor to use this search engine also, would highly recommend it!
