Unceremoniously ditched

Janet was initially a great help to our company, helping us prepare annual returns and corporation tax. However our company fell on hard times, and the directors and I made the mutual decision to wind it down - Janet initially agreed to help us through this uncertain process. We were happy to agree a fee in advance with her.
Then months followed with no contact from Janet, until one week before our final accounts were due - when she sent us a "DISENGAGEMENT OF SERVICES" email. I suppose we weren't worth the time, but given this is how clients are treated, she isn't worth yours either.
