The Westin Hamburg Elbphilharmonie

We stayed for one night at The Westin Hamburg Elbphilharmonie after visiting friends in the city. We wanted to treat ourselves and chose this hotel specifically for the “luxury” experience and the iconic building. We booked a room with a view on the 16th floor, and the view really was spectacular. Waking up to the city skyline, especially with the view from the bed and the bathtub, was absolutely beautiful and without doubt the highlight of our stay.

That said, I expected much more from a hotel of this reputation and price point. The check-in experience was surprisingly bland and felt no different from a budget hotel. The reception staff were not particularly warm or welcoming, and the whole interaction felt rushed and impersonal. Unfortunately, it gave the impression that we were being judged based on how we looked. We were travelling and dressed comfortably, but that should never matter, especially in a hotel that presents itself as luxury.

The room itself was fine, but aside from the view, it didn’t feel luxurious. The design felt quite ordinary and the layout was a bit odd, particularly the lamp placed awkwardly in the middle of the room. Nothing was wrong as such, but nothing stood out either.

The building itself is incredible and the views are genuinely unforgettable. I would recommend staying here for the experience of the Elbphilharmonie and the scenery alone. However, if you’re looking for true luxury service and atmosphere, this hotel doesn’t quite deliver.

ElbDISharmonie

Purchased 2 tickets at the Elbphilharmonies webpage clearly assuming the event would take place in Elbphilharmonie! When trying to find "Grosser Concertsaal" in the Elbphilharmonie we experience it was "Grosser Concertsaal" at a distant location somewhere else in Hamburg.
ElbDISharmonie I call it.

The purchase website is pathetic

The purchase website is pathetic. Despite pressing 'Tickets' in the same second the sales opened, I was no. 500+ in line. After waiting for 40 minutes, I could select the two tickets I wanted. When selecting the shopping basket to pay for the tickets, the system kicked me off and wouldn't let me retry.
Thank you, Elbphilharmonie, for having such a crappy IT system. I won't bother you by trying to buy tickets again.

Very bad client service, site led me to a mistake....

Very bad and cold client service. I bought 6 tickets in the site elbphilamonie and only when the tickets arrived my husband noticed that this show was not in the elbphilamonie. (but in the internet big letters elbphilamonie written). So next day my husband called and we wanted to give the tickets back, because we thought oh edson Cordeiro in the elbphilamonie. Was a Saturday the attendent said yes no problem but call monday and then ice cold monday the other attendent said sorry, you bought wrong and we don't give money back...... ( but we didn't buy wrong...... The site was confusing and i bought in the elbphilamonie site???!!!!! And also because was written in small letters leizthalle hamburg. The problem is i feel very angry about them. Not client friendly (kulant) as they say here in their site and not understanding at all, ice cold client treatment. And the golden key was..... They wrote in the ticket that you pay 6 euros parking in certain place they indicate gaenzenmarket , and then you ask in the Leizhalle there for the validation of the ticket , they say no no , this was before, now you have to pay the full price !!! So we payed yesterday 12,50 !!! Umbelieveble ! Never more Elbephilarmonie ... thank you very much.
