Dangerous electrician - caused a fire and poor customer service
I bought a new home from Bellway just over 2 yeas ago. After ~1year I had problems with the electrics. This was subcontracted to R B Emerson ltd. There is a two to two-and-a-half year warrantee with this company and the suppliers (see below) respectively. have email proof that that these problems were occurring before the one year mark.
The first issue was faulty wiring shorted and caused a fire which I put out as I fortunately had an extinguisher. I paid thousands for the repairs. We also discovered that the wiring behind the walls was atrocious. This matter was resolved at my own expense.
Secondly, the wall in the bedroom gives off a buzzing sound for a total of about 2h a day. We understand this is from wiring and I am terrified that it will cause a fire.
Thirdly over a year ago the extractor fan in the kitchen stopped working due to wiring. The manufacturer is offering to fix it for free under their warrantee, and all they need is details from this company who installed it. Well Bellway (also useless) have been contacting them for over a year without fruition. All I need is some sort of serial code/number proving the date of install for the manufacturer.
This proof is very easy to provide however this company messed me around for a year. Around a week ago I was told by Bellway that they were told by this company that "we do not have the information". The company was basically fobbing Bellway off. All I needed the company to do was to provide information and I could have got the repair direct from the manufacturer. Bellway gave me the email address to contact this company about the matter, and I sent a polite email - my first direct communication - which was immediately replied with a hostile "This query has to be put through Bellway.". I replied "Bellway have told me that you have told them that you do not have the information and I should contact you directly. " to which they replied "I have forwarded your email onto Bellway as the 2 year warranty is no longer valid for this property and I have also advised them that no further communication will be accepted by this email address from yourselves. We have supplied Bellway with all the information we have.".
I have had to pay thousands of pounds to correct fire damage caused by faulty wiring and they don't even have the decency to aid me in fixing the extractor fan which would cost them nothing or treat me with respect and decency. Avoid this company at all costs.
