Beware of Enel X Way in Italy

Beware of Enel X Way in Italy – Unfair Charges and No Refunds

Be very careful when using Enel X Way charging stations in Italy. They place a €30 pre-authorisation hold on your card, but if your actual charge is less (e.g., €14.38), they don’t refund the difference. This happened to me twice, and both times the extra money was simply never returned.

When I contacted customer service, they were completely unhelpful and showed no interest in resolving the issue. It feels like a deliberate tactic to overcharge customers, and it’s unacceptable.

Terrible service, no accountability, and frankly, it feels like they’re getting away with robbing people. Avoid using Enel X Way in Italy if you can.

their app communication
with the chargers only works when you upgrade from charge and pay per use, to a subscription that costs €4 every month.. When you charge and expect them to withdraw the money, well then they simply block your access and say they can't withdraw the money because there is no coverage, what nonsense there was enough money to cover

now I can't get them to talk about withdrawing the money so I can get out of that subscription with them

NEVER use Enel-X to charge an electric car

use Electra or Ionity in Italy

very untrustworthy business. Don't ever leave them you card number. They will deduct amounts several months after and they don't respond to your contact.

The absolute worst user experience

The absolute worst user experience. Your app has multiple bugs, you don’t have all the countries (where’s Turkey???) on your list, and even when selecting Italy it gets stuck. You guys absolutely suck! Please don’t make products that are these critical if you don’t know how to do your jobs

Stay away

Stay away. No customer service. There are plenty of other companies in this industry. This place is a scam. They don’t offer customer service. 24/7 support is not real.

Worst company ever

Worst company ever. My charger hasn’t worked reliably since I got it over a year ago. Their customer service based out of South Africa doesn’t know how to do anything except read a script and say they have IT work on it. I have never been able to successfully escalate my issues so I’m stuck!

Poor Design

Continual issues with trying to charge my car in my apartment building parking garage:
1) Have to log in to my APP account before I drive into my garage, otherwise does not connect.

2) Stops for no reason and I have to go and restart charging again

3) Often says charger is busy charging even though nobody is using the charger I want to use.

One star is till too much

One star is till too much. Customer service Europe is practically non-existent. Unjustified withdrawal from my creditcard. Sent them several E-mails, tried to call the customer service in Germany, Italy, US. US couldn't help (of course), Italy called back once and promised to solve the issue. Never hear anything after that. Simply terrible.

I don’t see any hope for this company. Every day, and with every “upgrade”, this company finds new ways to get worse. Hard to say which is worse, the app, customer service or products. Avoid this company!

The product was defective

Honestly 1 star is also waste. The product was defective and when i contacted customer support, they told me to options advance payment and the new one will be sent immediately after the payment, i payed 4 days ago and their system says its paid but not captured. They kept telling me the same thing from past 4 days so far no resolution, now they are telling to send defective peace we will send the new one after we receive this defect item. Full scrap going on with Enel X.

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE BAD PURCHASE

We have purchased and installed 6 of these chargers at our Distribution Center. I have been unable to get any support via phone or their support email. We have these installed now for 3 months and I have been trying to get a hold of this company ever since.

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible! Bought a juice box and I couldn’t return without an RMA number. Took a month to get it. I paid $100 to return it, only for the company to refuse it. It was sent back a second time. They finally agreed to pay for a shipping label. It was 6 weeks ago and still have not received my money back yet!!!!

Juicebox and the horror story of Enel X

For a couple of years the JuiceBox 32 Amp worked great! Let me transition, I went to Sierra Nevada Brewing Co and they had an Enel X DC fast charger, the app wasn't compatible with the home app and forced me to download, create a new profile (but alas, I already had one with the old app but nooo that wouldn't work) so I had to use a level 2 Chargepoint Charger which worked flawlessly. Then they consolated the apps and didn't notify anyone. Well, since I wasn't able to log into the new app until it was fixed I was screwed on needing to charge my car unbeknownst to me, in this dreaded gap. Customer service was horrible and they should retrain the staff as they are demeaning and terrible to work with. I used the charger for 2 happy years and now.... I cannot wait for my replacement. An at home EVSE should never fail you when you need it the most!

is anybody out there... terrible customer response.

I bought a now legacy juicebox back in 2018 or so for our Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Great app, great customer service... hell Tom Moloughney with eMotorWerks even reached out to me about contributing to owner blog about juicebox 40. My plug crapped out recently and sent email a few weeks ago to Enel, auto response (we received your e-mail) then nothing... went on chat 3 in que then 2 then 1 then hour later no one chatting... Just trying to figure out how to replace 40amp J1774 plug, what they recommend... crickets and website doesn't sell replacement parts. Mine works fine except for the failed plug the most used and abused part... dont want to replace the whole unit but cant get anything but robo responses... customer service is terrible in my current experience.

Do not buy

Have had mine since 2019. Until recently - no significant problems. Then, a couple of weeks ago, was forced to download the new app - there was no choice given to keep the old one. The new app boasts 'green charging' that allegedly diminishes CO2 production by charging the battery at the time of the lowest demand. Great, just doesn't work. With the old app, I had the charging time start set at 11 PM. Come home, plug the car whenever, OK by morning. With the new app, the charger refuses to wake up at the set time. Wrote to tech support, and they acknowledged the issue, said they are working on it, and suggested disabling the charger schedule and using the scheduling function of the car itself. Sure, except the charger still doesn't wake up at the set time. So, the choices are: wake up to see the depleted battery or forget about charging during the off-peak hours.
Which corporate idiot decided to sign off this debacle - we'll never know. For now, buy something else if you want to have a scheduling function.

New App Breaks Hardware You Already Own

My Juicebox worked well for four years, until Enel decided to get greedy and force all existing customers onto a new app that has added features such as a map of public charging stations. Unfortunately, the new app seems to cause most people's existing home chargers to malfunction, as you can see from the other reviews.

My experience has been that the app initially didn't load at all and just generated login errors. An update was released that fixed that issue, but now my Juicebox starts charging sessions and then abruptly stops without charging the car fully. Now in order to charge my car, I have to constantly monitor an app for 6-8 hours, so I can no longer charge my car while I sleep.

Forcibly updating software in a way that causes hardware customers have owned for years to stop functioning properly likely meets a legal definition of negligence, and I hope someone out there who owns a Juicebox is a lawyer looking into a class action suit. I'd certainly join.

DO NOT BUY

Absolutely horrific experience with the JuiceBox 40 since I purchased it in May 2023. I'm on the phone with tech support every week with a new issue. I'm now completely fed up and demanding a refund.

Biggest issues - They have two apps. In the first two months, they forced me back and forth between the apps four total times until they finally got my charger to be stable. In that time, I couldn't get onto my utility's discounted rate because their app wouldn't connect. I probably lost $100 because of this.

Now the past two weeks the app will not charge during the scheduled discount Time of Use rate (overnight). It charges immediately upon plug in instead of waiting for the TOU rate to start. Losing a lot of money because of this. Three weeks and multiple calls - They have absolutely no idea how to fix it. I'm insisting on a full refund.
